A Collection of Upcoming Fic Concepts

Summary:

Ranging from the uplifting feeling of finally being understood by someone to Kickin struggling to act like he belongs in a place that the universe has officially determined he doesn't, this is a compilation of various fic ideas that I will write into fruition in the future. They have been simmering in the back of mind for the duration of writing the second chapter of my main fic, and have been begging me to write about them. They will be turned into actual fics when I complete my second chapter.

Notes:

The chapters will display an outline and general description for what the fics would revolve around. I will attempt to be detailed enough to keep it intriguing, but some factors of the stories may be omitted for the sake of spoilers or preserving originality.

Certain parts of the chapters will be written like an actual fic, so they won't be just bullet point outlines.

Chapter 1: I'll Fall in Love with You Again and Again

Chapter Text

This would be a Hearts & Crafts focused oneshot and Smiling Critters AU of NAKISO's song, Retry Now. However, the premise will not be limited to what is depicted in the song and music video.

Bobby is a magical girl who functions as Cupid, utilizing her magic to assist others with falling in love. The limitation of her power is that it can only impact those destined to be together --- its purpose to solely aid true love into flourishing. This is never an issue for Bobby until she confesses to her dear Craftycorn and is, to her shock and misfortune, rejected. 

The outcome had never been considered by her before and she still found herself unable to fathom it. How? How could it be that, after devoting her entire life to ensuring the joy of other critters' relationships, she is refused her own? Her love for Crafty is deep and true, so surely they are meant to be! Her darling simply requires some extra encouragement, that is all. As a result, she succumbs to using her magic on Crafy to allow the unicorn to realize her own attraction.

Nothing happens to her except the appearance of confusion and anxiety as she stares at Bobby, unsure of what occurred. She stumbles back to escape, but in a final act of desperation and deteriorating sanity, the bear she had once called her friend murders her. Bobby then causes her own death, hoping that the deed would let them be together forever.

They are both reincarnated, but with the twist of Bobby remembering everything from her previous life and being forced once again in the position of a magical girl playing Cupid. Everything repeats in an endless cycle of unreciprocated love and bloody rejections. This continues infinitely with seemingly no end, no break to either of their torture. They have both trapped themselves in a hell of their own making and don't even realize that they are at fault for it.

(To clarify, Crafty shouldn't be required to accept Bobby's feelings --- it's just that, by not doing so, she unintentionally causes the following events.)

Chapter 2: The Good Place

A Smiling Critters x The Good Place AU.

This would be a series of multiple of oneshots which correspond with episodes and plots from the TV show I'm utilizing for the AU: The Good Place.

The premise of The Good Place: The series follows the protagonist, Eleanor Shellstrop, upon her awakening into the afterlife. In this particular afterlife system, there are two locations where a person may arrive at proceeding their death --- the Good Place and the Bad Place (essentially Heaven and H*ll). Eleanor is one of the rare few to have lived a life benevolent enough to land herself in the Good Place. Except, there's one slight issue. Michael, the Good Place's architect, has mistaken her to be a better person than she actually is; meaning that she isn't meant to be there. And it only becomes worse with how every bad deed she makes wreaks havoc onto the world --- forcing her onto a journey of self-improvement, lest she be discovered by causing too much destruction. With the assistance of her 'soulmate' Chidi, a professor of ethics and moral philosophy, she learns how to be a kinder human being, experiences character growth, and learns the answer to a question that we may not even realize we ask ourselves: What does it mean to be a good person?

It's a thought-provoking sitcom with humor so frequent and well-written that you'll laugh until you are gasping for air, and brutally depressing moments that will leave you crying until you're absent of tears. I also personally regard it as the show with the best plot twists ever created, and I don't mean this compliment lightly at all. The series is a clever masterpiece of television. Unfortunately, not too many people know about this underrated gem, which is why I intend to create this fanfic in the future. By utilizing it as an AU for a popular fandom, more people may be exposed to it and hopefully check the source material out. (I would attempt to avoid every massive spoiler, since I would hate myself if I was the reason why someone experiences the reveals without the proper experience.)

With this prior context out of the way, I will commence my discussion on how I would combine TGP with the Smiling Critters.

As much as I adore DayNap, I wish that more fics existed where a SC ship other than the aforementioned was the focus. As a result, this series would be StarStudent-centric, since Kickin and Bubba highly reflect Eleanor and Chidi's relationship. Here are my selections for the rest of the characters and some descriptions to go with two of them:

 

• Eleanor Shellstrop (Beginning of the Show) — A self-centered woman whose only concern is herself and gaining what she desires when she wants it. She radiates mean girl energy, but not quite in the way you might initially imagine. She's brutally honest about everything in life; including herself. 'Arizona Dirtbag' is a nickname that she frequently associates herself with. Eleanor does not have an issue with succumbing to petty or demeaning means to accomplish something, whether it be revenge or a scheme. However, one of her strengths is her high intellect, which can be hidden by how lowly she acts. One of the main ways she got by in life was through manipulation, so she's talented at reading people and comprehending situations deeper than others might. Her parents were extremely neglectful, which led to her essentially raising herself and learning not to trust or care for anyone else in life. She masks her emotions and wears an arrogant, apathetic facade to distance herself from others out of fear of becoming attached to someone who will just abandon her. (SC Character: Kickin)

     ○ "I was a medium person. I should get to spend eternity in a medium place! Like Cincinnati. Everyone who wasn't perfect but wasn't terrible should get to spend eternity in Cincinnati."

      ○ "Listen man! I'm dead, you're dead, we all died! And now we're killing her! Pay it forward." 

      ○ "Can you imagine getting drunk before giving a big speech, then getting kicked out of your niece's christening. Then once you've sobered up, remembering you don't even have a niece. It's like, who was that kid?"

 

• Chidi Anagonye (Beginning of the Show) — Professor of ethics and moral philosophy, Chidi devoted his entire life to being the best person he could possibly be. While he relied on his moral code out of genuine altruism, he also intensely struggled to make decisions on his own and failed to understand how to behave with other people. Kind to a fault, he will always stay by someone's side and attempt to be the nicest he can to them, regardless of how he is treated. Unfortunately for him, his strict moral code tends to also be a source of extreme stress due to his desire to be the best he can with everything. He has an obsession with books and philosophy, more than willing to speak for hours on the topic. Chidi's very intelligent and is the first person the characters usually seek out for advice. It's not explicitly stated to be canon, but he most certainly is autistic and has an anxiety disorder. (SC Character: Bubba)

       ○ "Principles aren't principles when you pick and choose when to follow them."

       ○ "This broke me."

       ○  "I argue that we choose to be good because of our bonds with other people and our innate desire to treat them with dignity. Simply put, we are not in this alone."

I had intended to write all of the groupings here, but I feel drained of the energy to do so at the moment and wanted to publish what I have. I'll create a follow-up chapter for this idea sometime (hopefully) soon.
