Work Text:
It was almost 2:00 a.m. The comforting silence after the usual rush crept in, taking over the apartment as the night showed a quiet, rainy Seoul through the window.
There was a light that was still on, though.
Celine was scribbling in her notepad, crossing words out and adding new ones instead. She was exhausted, but promised herself to get that first draft neatly done that day so she could show it to the girls before their weekly production meeting. She was working on a new song for the next Sunlight Sisters album, which was probably their last one after almost 8 years. After Eun-su’s engagement and Miyeong’s baby being born, everything started to change within the group, and they all knew it was time to let a new generation of hunters bloom. Celine wanted to stay, though. Probably not in the public eye, but she wanted to work in the industry, writing or even producing, meaning she had to work harder.
Just one more paragraph and I’ll leave it here, she told herself as she tried to come up with more ideas. The song was about standing out and being there for each other, since it was a trend now to sing about friendship. It was hard to write, though, knowing the obvious fate of the Sunlight Sisters as a group.
She kept on scribbling in her notepad without acknowledging the time passing by. Suddenly, she heard footsteps approaching, interrupting her focus and making her head turn.
A sleepy Miyeong was standing at the door in her pajamas, with her arms crossed. She had gone to bed hours earlier, but woke up to check on the baby. As soon as she noticed Celine wasn’t there, she immediately knew what she was up to.
“Celine, it’s late. You should get some sleep” she said quietly, almost whispering as she leaned towards the doorframe, trying to keep her balance as she forced her eyes open. Celine smiled at her in response, even though her mind was still ruminating on which lyrics would fit best.
“Just one more paragraph. I had this idea...”
“But you’re tired. And it’s nearly 3 AM” Miyeong added, starting to approach Celine’s desk. She knew Celine hated to be pressured, so maybe she could use that to get her to sleep. She missed her company, too.
“I just need to get this done” Celine then argued, trying not to lose her focus as she noticed Miyeong was now standing next to her.
“Come on, you can do that tomorrow. Plus, it’s cold tonight” Miyeong then added, placing her hand on top of Celine’s. Celine looked up at her with a faint smile and tired eyes.
“Just this sentence and I'll leave it, I promise”
Miyeong sighed as she started tracing circles on Celine’s hand with her fingers.
“But when will you rest, if you spend your whole days and nights working? You need time for yourself too” Miyeong added. She knew Celine sometimes tended to overwork, even on weekends.
“I know. It’s just-”
Miyeong took a strand of Celine’s long, dark hair and tugged it behind her ear as she stared into her eyes.
“You need to sleep. The song can wait. You can continue this tomorrow” she added before placing a soft kiss on Celine’s forehead.
“ But what about the baby? Who’s going to check in on her?” Celine then asked as she fixed her glasses with her free hand.
“Oh, don’t use her as an excuse” Miyeong responded playfully, cupping Celine’s chin with her hand, trying to get her to look up at her. “Rumi’s fine, I just checked. She’ll wake us up if she needs anything” she added.
“Now come on, leave this here and turn the lights out. Let’s get back to bed” she then ordered as she took the mechanical pencil from Celine’s other hand and slowly placed it on the desk, next to the notepad she was working on.
Celine finally gave in. Her ideas could wait until the next morning. If she were on her own, she’d surely keep on working for a few more hours, but Miyeong was right. She needed some rest. They both did.
She took Miyeong’s hand right after she stood up and put the chair back into place, leaving her notepad perfectly aligned with the desk corner.
Miyeong led the two of them out the door and towards their room, which was dimly lit by a tiny lamp.
As soon as they stepped inside, Miyeong let go of Celine’s hand, just to wrap her arms around her waist. Celine grinned at the gesture and just let Miyeong pull her close. Miyeong was the shorter one, but she enjoyed cuddling Celine in her embrace. There, Celine wrapped her arms around Miyeong and gave her a peck on the cheek.
“Thank you” she said afterwards, relaxing her posture.
“For what?” Miyeong asked, staring back at her with her signature gaze.
“Just thank you, Miyeong” Celine slowly replied.
“You get so emotional when you’re sleepy,” Miyeong started. “That’s cute,” she added before taking Celine’s glasses off and planting a soft kiss on her lips. Celine followed, slowly placing her hands on the back of Miyeong’s head as she tried to deepen the kiss a bit, but after a few seconds, she acknowledged they were both too tired to do so.
“We should actually sleep, you know?” Miyeong said between kisses before they pulled apart. Celine stared at Miyeong with puppy eyes -something she only did when she was alone with her.
“We can also continue this tomorrow” Miyeong then teased, giving her one last kiss before finally letting go and heading to bed.
