Work Text:

Logan flipped to the next page of the book he held in his left hand. He took a sip of his black coffee and set it down on the table.

He was in a café, so it was quiet but not completely silent. The conversations of the people there and the machines served as background noise. The shopkeeper's bell rang, and same as the other noise, he didn't pay much attention to it. Not until he heard the voice of the person who had just walked into the shop.

“Hi, I would like to get a…” He would recognize that voice anywhere. “medium latte, please.” Remus said.

He set the book slightly down from his face to look up and see his suspicions turn out to be correct. Remus stood there, waiting for his name to be called, as ‘extra’ as always.

Remus turned his head, looking around the place. He immediately buried his head back into the book, using it to cover his face and hide from Remus. Hide. Why was he hiding?

“Thank you.” Remus grabbed his latte and turned to search for a free table.

Eventually, he arrived at Logan's table, sitting on the chair in front of him. “Hi, Logan.” He said in a flirty tone.

Oh, fuck.” He muttered under his breath. He lowered the book that covered his face and said: “Hello, Remus.”

“It's been a while, hasn't it, huh, Logan?” He eyed him up and down, smirking.

“It has.” He cleared his throat.

“How's life been going for you? We haven't seen each other in years.” He rested his chin on his hand.

“Good,” Logan said, trying to maintain his usual dry tone and mask his nervousness, “yours?”

“Eh, you know,” Remus says, looking away. “I'm in a little bit of a mess right now. Got accused of some stuff but I've got it all under control.” He took a long sip from his latte.

Logan raises an eyebrow. “What?”

“Don't worry. Remember how you treated me back in the day? We were such good friends, Logan." He changed the topic.

“No we weren't.” His mind went back to the time they filmed their episode together. Remus kept teasing him and Logan ended up with a migraine. They were good times, but they weren't exactly close buddies.

“We should do something together again.” He got up from his seat. Thank God. “I have to go, it was nice seeing you, Logan!” He grabbed a napkin and quickly wrote something on it. “See you!” He left the napkin on the table and blew a kiss to Logan before leaving the café.

When he made sure Remus had already left the place, he picked up the napkin to see what he'd written on it. It had his phone number along with ‘Call me, sweetie.Ew, Logan thought.

He crumpled up the paper and put it in his pocket. He didn't want to admit it, but he was really considering calling– No. Focus, he thought to himself and submerged his head back into the book.
