Work Text:

A late-November evening, snow gently falling to the ground–only dusting the pavement just enough to obscure the rather depressing gray–Amahiko took soft steps along the empty street. He bundled himself up as best as he could in comfortable layers: a turtleneck, cardigan, and finally a wine-colored long coat paired with a plaid scarf overtop. A visit to discuss venues for Amahiko’s next show turned into a late-night walk when he saw the snow. Something about the winter was comforting to Amahiko, though he wasn’t quite sure what. Perhaps it was simply because it was his birthday season, or because snowfall made the sky shine. Regardless, Amahiko couldn’t pass up a walk in the snow. The serenity of the winter’s night came to a halt as Amahiko spotted a figure hunched over the portico of a house he surely didn’t reside in. Upon closer inspection, the bright-pink haired man seemed quite familiar to Amahiko, as he called out…

“Sarukawa? Is that you?” Amahiko cocked his head to the side. Kei looked up at Amahiko, scoffing and immediately denying any doubts Amahiko had prior that this was his housemate.

“Yeah, what about it?” He frowned, wrapping his arms around himself. Amahiko blinked at Kei’s choice of clothing.

“You must be freezing.” Amahiko noted, voice paired with a hint of worry. “You shouldn’t be wearing a jacket that thin, or ripped jeans, in the middle of November. Who’s house is this, anyways?”

“Fuck if I know. I just needed to hide out from the snow.” Kei shook his head. “And the fuck’s wrong with my outfit?!”

“It’s far too cold to be dressed like that, you’ll get sick.” Amahiko crouched down next to Kei. He must’ve been absolutely freezing, considering how light the snowfall was. To hide out from something so light… “Are you trying to get home?”

“Yeah, was just headin’ there before the snow started falling.”

“Here,” Amahiko took off his coat, handing it to the shorter man in front of him. Kei’s eyes widened, looking at Amahiko, then the coat, then Amahiko again. “Take it.”

“Fuck no! I don’t need your help, and I’ll be fine without it.” Kei crossed his arms. “Don’t go around giving me shit like I’m a charity.”

Amahiko frowned. Sometimes he truly got sick of Kei’s “lone wolf” attitude. Of course, the anger and embarrassment oftentimes was quite sexy, but at a time like this… all it did was make Amahiko worry. Nonetheless, now wasn’t the time to push, as worried as he was. He brought the coat back to his own chest, lettingout a long sigh.

“Well, if you say you’ll be alright-”

“I’ll take it.” Kei quickly interrupted Amahiko, grabbing the coat right out of his hands and throwing it on faster than Amahiko could blink. “Thanks, or whatever.”

“Ah… um…” Amahiko was confused, but happy. “Are you going to head home now?”

“Yeah, I guess.” Kei shrugged, standing up. Amahiko did the same, not saying a word. He didn’t want to poke the bear–or, rather, wolf–he somehow shared a home with. The two walked alongside eachother, neither saying a word. Amahiko wrapped his scarf around his own shoulders, trying to replace the warmth that his coat gave him.

“Sarukawa,” he laughed, “my coat looks so big on you.”

“Eh?! Shut up.” Kei looked away awkwardly, scoffing and folding his arms. “You’re just freakishly tall. How tall are ya, anyways?”

“I think you’re just short, haha. It’s quite adorable.” Amahiko noted. Kei furrowed his brow, before lightly punching Amahiko in the arm.

“Don’t fucking call me that! I’m a lot of things, but adorable ain’t one of them.”

“Ahaha, what would you prefer? Cute, endearing, sexy?” Amahiko winked at his housemate. Kei’s cheeks were bright red, though Amahiko assumed it was just from the cold.

“You’re such a weirdo. I almost forgot for a second, you bein’ all nice to me and shit…”

“Hm. You say it like me being kind was a lie…” He frowned. “I was worried, you know.”

“Yeah, I know, I know.” Kei sighed. “Just… how do you not realize how weird you are? Like, all the sexy and ecstasy shit. That ain’t exactly normal.”

“I suppose it’s not normal, but I don’t mind being labeled abnormal.” Amahiko nodded. “I’d much rather live my life as authentically and sexy as possible than be someone I’m not.”

“Eh,” he looked up at Amahiko, blinking. “Guess I never thought about it like that. Guess it’s your own little rebellion against the world, eh?”

“I don’t really see it that way. Instead, I’m inviting the whole world into a brand new world of sexiness!”

“Yeah, you’re still weird.” Kei sighed. “Thought we saw eye-to-eye for a moment…” He tightly gripped onto Amahiko’s coat. Amahiko was right about one thing, it was big on him. It smelled like Amahiko’s cologne, too, a smell Kei could recognize anytime. Not that he paid attention to what Amahiko smelled like, of course. He’d never even think about doing that! Even then, the smell helped warm him up even more.

“Well, I suppose I get what you’re saying. Not everyone views sex as something beautiful, as an art form. It’s easy to see my passion as a form of rebellion, like your own fights.” Amahiko smiled. “Though, I think it’s more than that. It’s my life’s work. Nothing makes me happier.”

“Hah… I dunno if I’ll ever get it, but I guess I can respect ya for it.” Kei playfully elbowed Amahiko’s arm. “You’re a freak, you know?”

“I’ll take that as a compliment, Sarukawa.” Amahiko smiled, blushing a little. The two’s walk came to a halt as they stepped foot in front of the house they both lived in, Amahiko opening the door. He offered Kei to enter first, who simply shook his head and pouted until Amahiko went first. Amahiko dusted himself off from the snow, taking off his scarf. Kei pulled off the coat, handing it back to Amahiko.

“Do you have any clothing for the winter, Sarukawa? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you dressed for this season…”

“Nah, why would I need it?” Amahiko laughed a little at Kei’s response, had he learned nothing from this entire debacle?

“You can keep this. I have plenty.”

“Eh? Fuck no! It’s yours, plus it barely fits me.” Kei grit his teeth at Amahiko’s offer. “Weirdo…”

“I suppose it was worth a shot… but I’d love to take you shopping sometime to get something actually weather-appropriate.”

“...if you’re paying.”

“Ahaha, then it’s a date. On me.” Amahiko gave a soft smile. Kei jumped, wanting to fight back, say fuck no!, and yet…

“Yeah, alright.”

What a fuckin’ weirdo.
