show me what we're working with

Summary:

Min Yoongi is very, very much in love with Park Jimin.

Notes:

The response to this series has been so insane!!! Thanks to everyone who read and enjoyed the first part!! Sorry this part is a bit on the short side, it's mostly a filler part so I can spend more time working on the next big part. I also wrote it so quickly because I got so much positive feedback that I didn't want to keep you guys waiting for too long. There's also no smut in this part, but there will be in the next part! Same with Hoseok, haha.

Again, I proofread it myself so sorry for any mistakes!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Baby?” Yoongi calls out, loosening his tie and stepping out of his shoes carefully. “Jimin?”

He waits a moment, but there's no reply. Normally Jimin is waiting for him somewhere near by, but he's home early today, so it makes sense that he's not.

It takes him a moment to realize that music is blaring from the kitchen, filling the house with noise. It's a song he doesn't recognize, some sort of pop song that he's only ever heard in passing because of Jimin. He can also smell something cooking, which makes him grin. He's only home two hours earlier than normal, which means Jimin starts preparing for him to come home long before he's supposed to be there.

His boss had decided that since he was so ahead of everyone on their individual projects, he should take the rest of the day off as a reward. Before he had Jimin, he probably would've declined the offer politely and continued to bury himself in work until he could barely keep his eyes open. Now though, he jumped at the chance, thanking his boss profusely and rushing home. He wonders how he's gone this long without having this feeling.

He smiles to himself, sneaking past the kitchen and up to their bedroom so that he can change into something comfortable before he surprises his boyfriend. He's anticipating some non suit appropriate situations to arise from him being home early, and although he can afford a lot of new ones, he likes the work clothes he owns now.

He changes into sweatpants that he's not sure are his and a black t-shirt, making his way back downstairs after he's done, making sure not to make the hardwood stairs creak. It's kind of pointless to be so careful, since it's impossible to even hear himself think over Jimin's music, but better safe than sorry.

Once he reaches the kitchen, he takes a moment, leaning against the door frame and crossing his arms. He can't stop the grin that stretches across his face at the sight in front of him. Jimin is in front of their stove, putting something into a pot while singing at the top of his lungs and swaying his hips to the beat of the music. He's wearing a long sleeved t-shirt that just barely covers his ass, and Yoongi can see that he's wearing some sort of black, tight fitting woman's underwear.

Before they were dating, he never came home in time to witness Jimin cooking, or doing anything really other than just sitting around and waiting for him. On his off days, Jimin didn't cook for him, both of them preferring for those to be more relaxed days when they would just laze around the house, or go on shopping trips. Now, since he has a reason not to stay overtime at work, he gets to see Jimin in moments like this, when he's truly being himself and not caring about what Yoongi thinks about him because he doesn't even know Yoongi is there.

He smirks at the scene after his grin has died down, reaching out to where their speaker system control is built into the the wall and hitting the pause button. Jimin continues signing for a moment after it's turned off, turning around in confusion to see why it stopped.

Yoongi can't help but laugh when Jimin jumps at least a foot into the air upon seeing him, covering his heart with his hand and flushing deeply.

“God,” Jimin says, letting out a frustrated breath and frowning at him. “You scared the shit out of me.”

“This is some kind of sex dream, right?” Yoongi teases, walking forward to gather his boyfriend into his arms, ignoring his previous statement.

“You wish,” Jimin allows himself to be lifted up a little, squeaking at the motion. “Everything is a sex dream for you.”

“I think that's more your fault than mine, beautiful.” Yoongi says, putting him down and kissing him before he can reply. He presses his fingers into the exposed skin of Jimin's ass, making him moan into the kiss and effectively separating their lips.

“I'm trying to make dinner, you fiend.” Jimin pushes him away with a laugh, trying to pretend that he isn't absolutely thrilled that Yoongi is home early and would drop all of his cooking and fuck him right now if Yoongi wanted. “Leave me alone.”

Yoongi just pulls him closer, blowing a raspberry into his neck and making Jimin shriek at the ticklish sensation. “Stop!” He yells between giggles and gasps of air, trying to push Yoongi away but failing miserably. “I hate you!” Yoongi doesn't relent, blowing more raspberries into his skin and moving his fingers against his sides. “I'm breaking up with you, you're the worst.” All of his words end up breathless and completely non-threatening but Yoongi finally relents after a few more threats and halfhearted smacks to the chest and back.

Yoongi laughs, kissing him on the lips again before finally letting him go and stepping back a little. “You're cute.”

Jimin sticks his tongue out at him, heart fluttering a little at the compliment as he tries to regain his composure. He turns back to the stove, thankful that the food looks like it's still relatively in tact.

“And you're going to ruin dinner.”

Yoongi just grins, wrapping his arms around Jimin's waist from behind and pressing his chest into Jimin's back with a content sigh.

It's moments like this that Yoongi keeps close to his heart.

Jimin manages to finish making dinner with minimal mishaps and they eat together, Yoongi telling Jimin about his day at the office, even though it was pretty uneventful. Jimin listens though, like he does almost every day when Yoongi comes home from work in time for them to eat together. He even asks him questions about random people or events. In return Jimin tells him about going to the store and trying out a new recipe and the conversation he had with Taehyung about why old men always hit on him.

And now, Jimin is pressed against him, his back leaning against Yoongi's arm and his head on his shoulder, doing something on his phone while Yoongi does the small bit of work he was meaning to do at the office. He loves Jimin sitting with him, even if they're not talking. Just being in Jimin's company is enough to keep him happy. He often thinks about the fact that he gets to come home to Jimin when he's having a hard time at the office.

“Do you think this is weird?” Jimin asks, breaking the relative silence of the room around them.

Yoongi looks up from his laptop, peering over Jimin's shoulder to see that he's playing some sort of game on his phone. This allows him to rule out the possibility that Jimin was trying to show him a picture of something.

“You're gonna have to be more specific, baby,” He replies, turning back to his computer and trying to focus on the report he's supposed to be making while listening to his boyfriend talking. He figures Jimin is going to talk about something random that he learned today while he was at work like he normally does. Since Jimin doesn't have much to do around the house other than laundry that he insists on doing even though Yoongi has someone to do it for them, and cooking, he's taken to researching things on the internet for hours and then reporting his findings to Yoongi. Yoongi absolutely loves it, even if he's never said as much.

He feels Jimin shrug his shoulders against him, his voice flat and airy. “That we're dating.”

Yoongi's fingers freeze on the keyboard and he turns once again to look at Jimin, who's locked his phone and is just staring at the blank screen now. So much for Yoongi being able to multitask this talk.

Yoongi is quick to close his laptop, setting it down on the small table in front of them. His movement causes Jimin to sit up, turning slowly so that they're facing each other.

“No...” Yoongi says slowly, unsure of what Jimin wants the answer to be. He doesn't think it's weird. He's been in a lot of relationships before, and Jimin probably feels the least weird out of all of them. It's easy to be with Jimin. Natural, even. They've only been dating for close to five months, but Yoongi has never been happier with his life. Weird is one of the last words he would use to describe their relationship. “What makes you say that?”

Jimin shrugs, rubbing his arm and looking at the TV that's been playing idly in the background for the hour that they've been on the couch. It's weird for him, just sitting. He feels like he's not doing something right, or he should be doing something else instead of just sitting next to Yoongi while he works. He'd made dinner for them, yeah, but that doesn't feel like enough. He's been doing that since he first moved in.

“It's just,” He huffs, finally looking back at his boyfriend, who's now sitting up on the couch with his legs crossed, facing him in order to give him his full attention. He feels a pang of guilt as he looks at the laptop that Yoongi has set down in favor of talking to him. “Don't you have work to do?”

Yoongi gives him a confused look, reaching out to take one of the hands that he's using to scratch at his leg unthinkingly. Jimin turns to mirror his sitting position, touching their knees together.

“I can do my work while you're here baby.” Yoongi rubs his thumb across his knuckles soothingly. “You being my boyfriend doesn't effect the amount of work I get done negatively. I go to work everyday for a reason.”

Jimin sighs, shaking his head. “No I just meant like right now.”

“It's nothing I can't do later, darling. I'm weeks ahead of my schedule right now anyways, that's why I came home early. Talk to me.” Yoongi lets go of his hand, opening his arms for Jimin to crawl into.

Jimin does so, wrapping his legs around Yoongi's waist and his arms around his neck, leaning forward so their foreheads are pressed together. He thanks god that the couch is much larger than an average couch and can accommodate for them sitting pretty much however they want.

Jimin moves back a little so that they're looking at each other, but he doesn't say anything for a moment, just looking at Yoongi. He feels a bit overwhelmed, even just looking at him and forgetting about everything else. It's summer, so his freckles are starting to show, even though he hasn't been outside much in the few weeks its started to get hot.

The look in his eyes gets to Jimin too. He can see just by the way Yoongi is looking at him that Yoongi thinks the world of him. The problem is, Jimin definitely doesn't think the world of himself, and he's never been so scared of letting someone down. He doesn't even know how he would deal with the heartbreak of Yoongi kicking him out, and on top of that it's not like he has a back up job that he can just go back to if things don't work. He's sure that word has gotten out among other escorts about him dating. He's made himself pretty unmarketable by dating someone that used to be his client.

“I don't have a job,” Jimin says finally, after the silence between them feels like it's been stretching for too long. “I just live here and you pay for all of my stuff and I don't do anything for you in return. Isn't that weird? I kind of feel like I'm still your escort sometimes, but now there's feelings involved.”

Yoongi sighs, putting his hands onto Jimin's hips and giving Jimin a disbelieving look. Maybe that wasn't exactly what he meant to say, but he hopes Yoongi doesn't take offense to his words. It's not like he feels like he's being used. The opposite, really. He's so used to being used that it's weird to have someone who isn't using him and just enjoys his company.

“Jimin,” Yoongi trails off, shaking his head while trying to put his words together correctly. Of course Jimin does things for him. He makes sure he eats, and goes to sleep at a reasonable time, and he stops Yoongi from being horribly lonely all of the time because he puts up with Yoongi's work schedule and manages to make time for them to be together even if it's just sitting next to him while he works.

“I'm serious,” Jimin emphasizes, his eyes getting a little wide to make his point. “What do I even bring to the table here other than my ability to make you cum?”

Yoongi raises an eyebrows at him, squinting his eyes a little and looking so incredulous that Jimin almost regrets even bringing it up. “You know that I love you, right?”

Jimin's eyes widen considerably, and his body tenses a little bit. Yoongi gives him a moment to process the information before he continues to talk. He's never actually said it aloud, but he thinks it's pretty easy to tell by the way that he acts that he's in love with Jimin.

“If you didn't already know,” He continues, squeezing his hips. “I love you, Jimin. Don't even tell me that you don't do anything for me. Without you I would be so lonely.”

He reaches out, lifting Jimin's chin gently so that they're looking at each other again since he's started looking down at their laps. “Hey,” He murmurs, moving his hand to his cheek for a brief moment. “You asked a question and I'm gonna answer it. I want you to really listen to me right now OK? This is important.”

Jimin nods, taking the hand from his cheek and holding it in his, fingers folded over Yoongi's knuckles. Yoongi's heart skips a beat when their hands rest together over Jimin's thigh. He's always thought it was stupid for people to say that their hands fit perfectly with someone elses. Yoongi's hands have fit with a lot of other people's hands and he's never found it awkward or weird with anyone that he's dated. He understands what people mean though, when he holds Jimin's hand. It's like he can't remember what it feels like to hold someone elses' hand.

“You're so important to me,” Yoongi explains, hoping that he can get his point across clearly. He's never been that great at talking to people, but he has a lot of feelings about Jimin and he might explode if he holds them in any longer. Especially when Jimin is talking about how unimportant he feels. “Even times like a few minutes ago when you just were sitting with me, I cherish that stuff. It's important to me because I do work so often and I'm sorry if you don't feel important because of that. I'm so grateful for you putting up with my work and just spending random time with me. I don't know what I would do- Hell, what I was doing, without you. Please don't say that you don't do anything for me or don't 'bring anything to the table', because honestly, you're the reason I even wake up in the morning.”

Jimin shakes his head, reaching up to wipe at his eyes. Yoongi just presses on with his speech. Regardless of whether or not Jimin even believes him at this point in their relationship, he needs to tell him. The last thing that he wants is for Jimin to feel like he's not important, or that he doesn't do anything.

“You make sure I don't go to bed alone, and that I go at a reasonable time. You give me a reason to wake up in the morning and something to look forward to when I come home. I don't even care that I pay for your stuff because you deserve it, darling. It's a small price to pay to be able to have someone like you in my life. We could never have sex again and I would still think you're the most incredible and important person in the world. OK? You bring love to the table, and that's all I need from you.”

Jimin just stares at him for a moment, his eyes filled with tears. He's unable to even form words around the way that his chest feels like it's going to burst because he's so full of so many emotions. There's doubt, always, filling him up to the brim and making it hard for him to breath sometimes because what if Yoongi just feels bad for him? What if everything he says is just for Jimin's benefit and just to make him feel better? What if Yoongi claims all of this love and appreciation and still leaves Jimin for someone younger and more beautiful and sexier.

“Yoongi I-” Jimin covers his mouth with his hand, shaking his head again and closing his eyes tightly. It's a lot for him to handle. He's used to being complimented on his eyes, his smile, the way he sounds in bed, his sexual ability. He's been complimented on those things even before he became an escort. “I've never- you're my first boyfriend and I'm scared that I'm going to ruin this for us, for you. I just want to make you happy and I don't know what I'm doing.”

He's not used to people actually caring about him for more than his body and he feels like he's drowning in his conflicting emotions.

“Jimin, baby, look at me, please,” Yoongi pleads, putting both hands on either side of his face. Jimin opens his eyes immediately at the sound of Yoongi's voice. It's demanding and worried, a winning combination to have Jimin doing whatever is asked of him.

“You're doing a good job at being my boyfriend,” Yoongi says, his voice a little slower now. He sounds more like he's trying to sooth than convince now and Jimin just really loves him. “I probably don't do a very good job of letting you know that, but right now, this is me telling you that I'm so happy with you, and I've never been happier than right now. I'm scared of messing this up too, but I don't want us being scared of ruining our relationship to ruin our relationship. That's just bullshit.”

“I love you,” Jimin says around a sob, taking a few moments to try and stop crying. His attempts are futile and only serve to make his crying worse.

“I know baby,” Yoongi replies softly, hugging him close and allowing Jimin to rest his head on his shoulder.

Jimin leans into the touch immediately, closing his eyes and just letting tears fall from them, sobs slowly fading. “God, I'm sorry,” He reaches up to wipe his nose on his sleeve, ignoring how disgusting he's going to feel later about it. “I'm a mess.”

“You're fine, my love.” Yoongi's fingers find their way into Jimin's hair, his fingernails scratching at his scalp lightly. “Are you OK? I'm sorry if I said something upsetting.”

“No, no I'm fine.” Jimin's not even sure if that's true, but even just being slightly closer to Yoongi has him feeling a bit more balanced, so he thinks he'll be fine. “You didn't say anything wrong I'm just... people don't normally tell me how important I am to them, you know? It's good to hear that you're worried too though, about fucking things up.”

Yoongi nods, his hand finding it's way underneath of Jimin's shirt now and rubbing his back. Jimin sighs at the contact, relaxing further into Yoongi's hold.

“Being an escort,” Jimin shrugs a little as he begins to talk again, speaking into Yoongi's neck. “I guess I just got so used to having to please people constantly for them to want to have me around that it's just a habit by now to feel like I'm not doing anything if I'm not having sex constantly. And I've never had a job before that wasn't being an escort. It's never been weird for me but now I'm not doing anything you know? It's weird I guess, to just sit around and live with you without it being my job. Being your boyfriend is just weird, is what I'm saying.”

Yoongi hums thoughtfully, kissing his neck softly and leaving his lips there for a few moments. He mulls over Jimin's words in his head, letting them fill in the little gaps about what he knows about Jimin. The fact that he's Jimin's first boyfriend still has him reeling a little inside, even if he's not outwardly showing it. Jimin's timidness and worry make a lot more sense when he takes that into account. He just really hopes he didn't pressure Jimin into something that he didn't want, or wasn't ready for without knowing. He doesn't think he did, since Jimin mentioned being boyfriends before he ever brought it up, but still.

“Do you regret being my boyfriend?” Yoongi finally manages to asks after a few minutes of silence. He has a feeling that he knows that Jimin's answer is, but he'd rather know as soon as possible if Jimin is regretting their decision. “Would you rather go back to the way things were?”

“No!” Jimin scrambles to sit up straight so that they're looking at each other. “No, not at all. That's kind of the problem, actually, I think. I mean, what's really changed? Other than us knowing that we love each other? You still pay for everything that I do. I still have my black card linked to your bank account.”

“There are other jobs you could have baby. You don't have to be tied to being an escort for the rest of your life.”

Jimin seems to have calmed down a bit now, but Yoongi is still a bit fearful that anything he says may set him off again. It's not he minds Jimin crying, obviously. It makes sense that he's overwhelmed and scared and Yoongi hadn't exactly sugar coated how much affection he has for him. He'd just rather not have Jimin crying if he can help it.

“I'm not exactly qualified for very many jobs,” Jimin replies with a laugh, sitting up straight and stretching out his back after being hunched over for so long. The laugh isn't quite a real laugh, but it's a step towards Jimin not being so upset, so Yoongi counts it as a small win. “I can't really write, 'great at making people cum', on a job resume.”

“I'd hire you.” Yoongi smirks, pressing his fingers into the skin of Jimin's lower back and massaging it gently. “Oh wait-”

Jimin hits him in the chest with both of his hands, laughing and kissing him to get him to be quiet. Yoongi's pretty sure his heart is going to explode.

“But really,” Yoongi continues, taking one of Jimin's hands from his chest and holding it in his. “You could do a lot of things with yourself baby. You know that little coffee shop that we go to? The one with the raspberry things you like?” Jimin nods in recognition. They'd just gone there two days ago on Yoongi's day off. “They're hiring. They had a sign last time we went.”

Jimin hums thoughtfully, letting out a deep breath he didn't even know he was holding in. He's never thought about working at a coffee shop, or any other type of shop, if he's honest with himself. He could probably do it though. He's personable, and responsible, and quick to learn new things. Plus he goes to the little shop so often he knows the menu by heart already and he's half sure that he could make some of the drinks already just by guessing and remembering watching people make them for him.

“That's actually not a bad idea,” Jimin finally says, making a mental note to go to the store tomorrow while Yoongi is at work. “I think I'll go and check it out.”

Yoongi grins, squeezing his hand a little and pulling him into his chest. “And if that doesn't work out, I'm sure there are plenty of other places around here that are hiring. I'll help you find somewhere, OK? We'll link your bank account with mine and then we'll both be spending each other's money. Does that sound alright?”

Jimin's entire face softens and Yoongi feels a little bit like he's melting under Jimin's gaze as he nods at him, eyes turning into little crescents. He hopes that he looks at Jimin like that, because he can practically feel how much Jimin loves him just looking at him.

“I'm so lucky to have you,” Jimin says, playing with the hairs at the nape of Yoongi's neck. Now it's Yoongi's turn to get a bit teary eyed. “I'm so incredibly lucky and thankful to have someone like you in my life. Someone was really looking out for me when they allowed us to meet.” Jimin kisses him for a brief moment and Yoongi just wants to kiss him forever, sighing at the loss when Jimin pulls away from him. “I know you might not feel like you're doing much for me, either, since you work so much,” Yoongi nods a little, pressing his lips together for a moment. It's part of the reason that he likes paying for Jimin's things, because it's part of what he brings to the table of their relationship. “But even just being around you sometimes is enough to keep me happy. As long as you come home at night and let me tell you about my stupid fun facts that I find on the internet, that's all I really need.”

Yoongi blinks a few times, pushing his tears back. He hasn't cried in probably a few years, but he really doesn't feel like now is the correct time to be crying, so he doesn't, despite how much he wants to. He doesn't think he's ever cried happy tears before either, so he wants to save that for a really happy occasion. He's sure he'll know what it is when it happens.

“Is it bad that I want to fuck you right now?” Yoongi asks, pulling Jimin closer by his hips and making his hips stutter. Maybe he's deflecting so he won't cry, but he also just wants Jimin to feel how much he loves him. What better way to show him than to fuck him into the mattress, right?

“How on earth are you finding me sexy right now?” Jimin laughs, running a hand through his hand. “I was crying not even two minutes ago.”

“What can I say? You're sexy no matter what you're doing, although I'd rather you were crying for a different reason.” Yoongi kisses him gently, finding that his lips taste like tears and snot and OK, that's really not sexy at all. “Your lips do taste weird though, so maybe wash your face and then I can fuck you into a another plane of existence.”

Jimin covers his face with his hands, blushing all the way down to his chest. “Oh my god.” He slowly makes his way off of Yoongi's lap so that he can stand up, taking his hands away from his face in order to do so. “You're so charming.”

“My charm is at least ninety percent of what made you fall in love with me.” Yoongi stands up as well, winking at him.

“Yeah,” He replies with a laugh, unable to keep from grinning as he wipes the tears from his face with the sleeve of his shirt. “I think you're right.”
