Kringgggggg
It was recess.The year 5 students finally exited their classrooms to rush over to the school cafeteria.Joni,Mia and Emilia sat on their picnic blanket under a big tree for shade.
"Ughhhhhhh"Joni plopped to the blanket.
"That was so tiring"Her forehead beaded in sweat.
"Well,it is hot today"Emilia stated while she fanned herself with her hand fan.
"I'm sure we can go to Chef Antone's bakery later.He said there would be parfaits since the weather's pretty hot"Mia started to take out her hand fan when Charles emerged from the bushes.
"C-cero?!"
"Fear not Mia!I shall protect you from this heat!"He gave her a white parasol.
"Hey!Who said you could join us?!"Joni shrieked.
Thunk
Something small had hit her head.A candy corn?
"HEY!WHO THREW THIS?!"
A figure that hid behind the bushes sprinted to a run.
"HEY!"Joni shouted as she chased after the unknown person.She ignored the muffled voices from her friends and continued to go after it.The figure was quick,faster. It disappeared from her view.But there,left a trail of candy corns.Joni still frustrated with anger decided to follow this trail.Whoever this person was,he's not going to get away with it.
The trail ended to a cottage.The door was hanging off it's hinges,the glass windows broken,cobwebs beneath the roof.The house looked abandoned.Fear dawned on her.What was she doing at a place like this?She should leave.She turned her back to leave.
A hand grabbed her ankle.She screamed.She tried to escape it's grasp.She tumbled over and hit the ground.She tried to kick at her ankle,hoping it would let go.It didnt.
"HELPPPPPPPPPP"
"JONI WAKE UP!"
She woke with a startle.Mia tackled her in a hug.Emilia followed when she came through the door.
"Finally you woke up!"Mia started crying.
"You idiot!Don't scare us like that!"Emilia hit Joni's head.
"Ow!"Joni winced in pain.
"But,where are we?"
"School infirmary.You suddenly passed out.The school nurse said it might have been because of the heat."Emilia said while shaking her head.She did not want the others to find out that she was crying.
"I-I had a dream and I couldn't move just now"Joni shuddered at the thought.Atleast she hopped it was a dream and that this was reality.
"It must have been sleep paralysis."
