Work Text:
Step one: find a group of Heartless.
The bigger, the better. Doesn’t really matter what’s all in it, as long as there are some of those little green floaties around.
Step two: prepare before charging in.
Keep potions and cure on hand and in quick access, just in case.
Step three: charge in with aplomb.
Wave Keyblade around for good measure.
Step four: this is the most important one, the one that matters when the others don’t.
have fun!
Saving worlds is a lot of responsibility. It’s good to get some stress relief. They’re not human, so they don’t feel anything. It is in fact the best, most selfless purpose they can be put to; since everything is their fault anyway, any vague distress they may encounter is deserved. So have no compunctions, no remorse, in beating the ever-loving crap out of them. Go wild. Go ham. Go nuts.
Corollary: other than to occasionally wave Keyblade at in a threatening manner, leave the green floaties alone. Their job is to heal the damage that’s been inflicted so the fun can continue. Ideally, their stick legs will be busy floating around doing this, so the other side of management falls on the self. Hence the supplies.
Step five: experiment.
This is the time to indulge in youthful curiosity. How hard and how many times must specific breeds be beaten to nearly put them down? Where do they run to get away? How easily do they stagger? What spell elements hit them the hardest? Any surprising resistances? What about location? The large guys are most obvious in this respect, but do others work the same way? How quickly, with real effort, can they be brought to the brink?
It is in the nature of children to play. At the age of a mere fourteen years, that instinct has not yet left for adult ambivalence. It flourishes fully in such an environment. Here, there are no parents to ring the dinner bell, or to scold for being out into the twilight hours. The park never has to be left. There are no aborted plans to leave for another free weekend.
Step six: exhaust.
Children are like exotic breed pets; at their best when worn to nothing. An unlimited amount of play ensures this happens. Who knows what they might do otherwise?
Step seven: put the toys away.
Finish off the batch, green floaties included. Check self over for any residual remains of play time, then trudge back to room at current inn.
Step eight: comedown.
This is when the fruits of labor are most enjoyed. Ache in the legs and shoulders blooming, weariness in the arms that begs for rest, a pervasive drained out sense of peace and easiness of mind. Close out the day with dinner and a bath. Wash off in bubbles. If the warm water is conducive, ********** to release the last dregs of tension and guarantee a good night’s sleep.
Step nine: rest.
Dress in pajamas, brush teeth, touch over any bruises and scratches still left. Curl up in bed to reach maximum toasty comfort, while replaying memories of the day to most enjoy state of drowsiness. Another day awaits. Growing children need a full night’s sleep to repeat the cycle of play.
Step ten: sweet dreams.
