”My Son…….”
”……It is time to awaken……”
”…….You know what must be done toda-“
”Yeah, yeah Pa I’m gettin’ up.”
To say that Clover was annoyed by his fathers cryptic manner of speech was a massive understatement, still he was thankful that he was woken up, because today he was supposed to babysit his niece, Suzy.
It was odd being an uncle at such a young age, most of the time he just felt like a cousin or older brother to the girl, but today was his first time watching her on his own and he had to be much more responsible with her than he usually was.
After dressing himself in his usual cowboy attire and eating breakfast Clover made his way to his [SIBLING], [REDACTED]’s house on the other side of Waterfall, where he would find his niece.
“Bye Pa” Clover called as he ran through the door.
“See you soon Son” His father responded as he watched him leave.
Some time later he made his way to his [SIBLING]’s house and opened the door.
"UNCLE CLOVER" he heard a high, raspy voice yell.
"Hey squirt!" Clover enthusiastically replied while ruffling the pinks girls hair. She hated being called squirt and having her hair ruffled. Suzy scowled, but quickly regained her composure and dragged her uncle out of the house.
"So" Clover huffed, still regaining his balance after being dragged "What's gotcha so excited?"
“Did ya forget? Ya promised to take me to Snowdin today”
”Oh yeah.” Clover rubbed his head in embarrassment. He was so caught up in making sure he could take care of Suzy properly, he had forgoten he made that promise.
After convincing Suzy it was a good idea to change out of her pajamas and get ready for the day the two began the trek to Snowdin.
“So,” Clover said trying to make conversation as they walked, “how’s you [PARENT].”
“[]’re good, how’s Grandpa?”
Clover was about to instinctively say ‘good’ as he always did when someone asked about his father, however Suzy knew Gaster well enough to know that her grandfather was never really ‘good’
“he’s… the same.” Clover replied at last
“Yeah, that old man will never change”
”Let’s hope not” Clover stopped as he said this, thinking of the stranger than usual experiments his father had been staying up at night conducting.
While Clover was lost in concern Suzy was lost in a much different state of mind, looking ahead she saw that the darkest part of Waterfall, where the only source of light was the strange glowing mushrooms, was ahead of them. Looking behind her she saw that her uncle wasn’t paying attention. She concocted a plan and ran ahead to the dark abyss Waterfall.
“SUZY!” Clover cried as he snapped out of his trance. “Where are you going!?”

silence
That’s all that there was in this void. Clover frantically looked around for a mushroom to emit light from hoping to find the girl, but he couldn’t see anything he began to feel out the walls of the cave in order to find something when he heard.
“boo!”
Clover whipped around to see, very faintly, Suzy standing in front of him barely containing her laughter.
Clover glared at her and dragged her by the arm all the way through the dark labyrinth until they finally made it out.
"What were you thinking?" Clover shouted furiously.
Suzy was scared, she had never seen her uncle this angry before.
"I- I j-just wanted to p-prank ya."
Clover exhaled though his nose and rubbed his forehead.
“Just, don’t do that again ‘k.” He sighed, he felt guilty at getting mad at Suzy, he knew that she enjoyed pranks, but he didn't like the idea of Suzy running off and being getting hurt just for a prank.
Suzy was still shaken up by Clovers unexpected strictness nodded, then made sure to stay by his side as they continued their walk through Waterfall.
after mostly silent journey the pair finally made it to Snowdin.
“So what do you wanna do first?” Clover asked while Turning to Suzy.
“Let’s go to shop I wanna get those cinnamon buns.”
Clover raised an eyebrow well aware of the girl’s fondness for cinnamon buns from the Snowdin shop, “surely that isn’t the only reason you wanted to come here?”
Suzy giggled nervously “Can ya blame me?”
“Nah, I really can’t,” He replied, thinking of the quality taste of the treats.
As they walked towards the entrance to the Snowdin Shop the pair Noticed that they weren’t the only ones there.
“H-Hi Princess!” Clover stuttered out, for before him stood the Princess of the underground Chara Dreemurr.
“Long time no see cowboy” The Princess teased with a smug grin, holding a cinnamon bun in her hand. “How have you been?”
“G-Good”
Suzy was having a great time watching her uncle struggle around the only other human in the underground, wait was Clover human? He was Gaster’s biological son, but she always heard from everyone that he was human, best not think about it.
“Uhh Uncle Clover, cinnamon buns.” Suzy reminded him after an awkward pause.
”Oh right,” Clover went to walk inside the shop but Chara blocked his path
“You want a cinnamon bun, do you.” she teased, she then forced the bun she was eating into Clovers mouth while winking at him. “Take care of your uncle for me, ok Suzy.” She said as she walked away from the pair.
“heh heh heh”
“ha ha ha”
“Bwa Ha Haa”
Suzy could not contain her laughter at the sight of Clover standing dumbfounded at the events that had just transpired.
“Dude,” she yelled after her laughter died down, “ya gotta get yourself together around her.”
“ye-yeah i probably should,” Clover replied in a small voice, as he finally walked into the store.
After buying Suzy her cinnamon bun (Clover was more than happy with the one he had) they spent the rest of the day wandering through Snowdin and then Clover took Suzy home.
“So did ya have a good day?” Clover asked while walking her up to her house.
”It was GREAT” Suzy exclaimed, but then her excitement was replaced with guilt, “I’m sorry about Waterfall.”
“I’m sorry too.” Clover apologized as he bent down to Suzy’s eye level, ”I was just scared ya were gonna get hurt in the dark,” Clover held out his hand, “just promise to not do that again and I’ll promise not to yell again, ok?”
“O.K.” she replied enthusiastically ash she gripped Clovers hand.
Clover smiled and watched Suzy run inside her home, but as he turned to walk away he heard his phone buzz.
”Son…………………..” (yes he really did type all the periods)
”….the CORE is having a major malfunction……”
”……..I require assistance immediately……”
And as the son of the royal scientist Clover gave an intelligent response worthy of his bloodline.
”Ah shit.”
