Work Text:
It was a long day.
And by a long day Micah means he got woken up by sirens because there was an emergency on an other realo.
What is the emergency you may ask?
Zombies, not the normal kind but water zombies.
The worst kind and he got proven right yet again.
The mission started chaotic, everyone was running, screaming and blasting zombies left and right. He got infected early so his memory’s were pretty much gone. Only a haze of power, water and the faint pain of getting blasted were things he could remember.
After they finally got back, he was tired. Not the ‘I wanna sleep’ tired but the ‘I just got infected by a zombie virus and I still feel like I’m dead’ tired.
Mary advised everyone that got infected not to sleep for a while because of a reason he wasn’t smart enough to understand. So he just aimlessly wandered around HQ until his legs brought him to the cafetaria.
Because they got back so late there was no one there. Even the big lights were off, the only light sores came form the hallway leading up to the cafetaria. Micah sat down on a bench with a deep sigh, it was always a weird feeling after a mission. Even when everything around you is quiet, your head is buzzing and your still on high alert. Like the chair could to turn in a zombie.
Lost in thought Micah just sat there, staring at the sealing. When a certain someone appeared next to him .
“How are you doing” Micah nearly jumped form the bench.
“AAAHH ZOMBIES” he screeched while he grabbed a imaginary blaster.
“Micah it’s me, Michelle not a zombie, calm down!”
Micah froze mid air, realizing Michelle was in fact not trying to eat his brains.
“Sorry, sometimes you still look like the alpha from the day we met.”
A sharp pain suddenly hit his shoulder. He looked over and saw Michelle with a displeased look on herface.
“Sorry, I meant uhh..”
Micah took an other deep breath to gather his thoughts. “What I meant to say was that it was a long day, you just caught me off guard”
Michelle was a bit thrown off by the sincerity in his voice. He must be really tired she thought to herself.
“Don’t worry about it, your tired I get it”
“What are you doing awake anyway?” Micah had a reason to be awake but Michelle didn’t, she did not go on the mission with them. “Couldn’t sleep” A simple answer but the truth. Michelle was known for being a night owl.
A silence fell over them. Not necessarily awkward but juist two people who got lost in thoughts.
That was until Micah smiled and looked over to his side. “Remember when you came to headquarters for the first time? I’m pretty sure your jaw dropped to the floor when you saw the arcses.” A pleased hum escaped him when he recalled the memory. Michelle laughed
“Well, you don’t see a literal portal every day” Micah was right, she was amazed by the headquarters of the M.O.M . “You remember when you gave me that tour around the building? That is probably my favorite memory off this place” Michelle hadn’t meant to say the last part out loud but it was to late take it back now.
Micah looked surprised at the confession but smiled “Yea, it was good to see you light up a bit. You were still shaken up from being the alpha”
He looked back at Michelle. It was just a glance at first. Then neither of them looked away. The tiredness in his chest shifted into something else, something sharp and unfamiliar.
Micah suddenly became embarrassed and looked up towards the sealing again. He wanted to continue the conversation and totally not think about what just happened.
“You know, I remember our first mission together. You were new to the team so we went on a peaceful mission to Aetheria. To tell you the truth it has always been one of my favorite realo’s, there is just something about seeing your reflection in Aetherias lakes and letting the magic water show you where your meant to belong. It also creeps me out a bit because how does the water know where I belong if I don’t even know myself, it’s just weird” Micah smiled to himself until his face changed at a realization that suddenly dawned on him.
“Now that I think about it, ever since I was little the water has always shown me helping people with the M.O.M but the last time I was there with you it changed. First I saw me helping a child with a broken toy but when you came up and stood next to me when you wanted to look at the water yourself, it changed. I didn’t see a vision I saw just us staring at the water. That’s weird right? I mean the magic water must be broken or somethi-“
Micah’s little rant was disturbed by a soft and constant pressure on his shoulder. When he looked towards his side he saw Michelle’s soft curly brown hair resting on his shoulder. Micah stilted and listened to the steady rise and fall of her breath while she slept. It took him a while to admit it but she looked….cute? He didn’t hate the thought, he liked it even but that was a whole other box of emotions he would open later. For now he was to tired to care, he rested his head on top of Michelle’s and of to dreamland they went.
Let’s just say Judah took a whole lot of blackmail photo’s the next morning when he came in for breakfast.
