Chapter Text
"And maybe you're scared to say, 'I'm falling for you'."
Oikawa Toruu. The pretty boy. The perfect setter. The supreme king, as Hinata Shoyo called him. But Shitty-kawa, Assikawa and Trashykawa to him, Iwazumi Haijime. Oikawa was never the type to fall for guy. Not who flashes a smile even. He never found himself attracted to guys. Why would he? Haijime was his best friend from childhood. His anchor. He couldn't.
But then, he found his heart skipping beats, his face flushing, teasing Iwazumi, oh god. He was falling for him. He cursed himself for wondering how Iwazumi decorated his notes, what clothes he wore when they weren't meeting up, and how he touched himself, and he would crumble and curse and curse! God! Why did he have to be his type? Why? He tried to distract himself with girls. Playing with them to throw them away, to distract himself from the person he wanted. He yearned for attention for.
On the other side, was Ushijima. Perfect in volleyball, beating Oikawa every time. To prove he was stronger. He was capable. Why? He wanted to impress the guy. He wanted to show him how he could care for him, adore him, hold him tight. Ushijima dealt with his mother telling him he needed to "Man up and provide" and "You're just like your father!". His sister telling him to give up on volleyball because "That isn't a real job" and "That will never get you anywhere in life". Ushijima found himself taking cold showers when those words were said. If he needed to cry, he would turn on the temperature of the water, knowing it made more noise and it would muffle his cries. That's why he went to the dorms. To escape. Tendou was there for him, despite Wakatoshi never saying the words he needed to spit out "Am I man enough?", "Should I quit?", "Do I look like him?". That made the poor guy question himself. That's why he found comfort in the brunette. Seeing past his cracks. Seeing how he though he wasn't good. He loved him for that. Gosh! How he wanted to grab him and tell him "You're so amazing. Please keep up." He wanted him to come to his school so he could tell him those words. The time between matches wasn't enough to say all those words. To tell him "Take care.".
