The damage was done. The doctor that wasn’t a real doctor had read all the words. You’d heard the last one, knowing Hydra’s techniques to brainwash people. The doctor was gone, but Bucky, he was still there. No emotions flickering in his eyes. He caught you looking at him, knowing it was his mission to kill any witnesses.
He came towards you in a fast pace, you responding with a non-threatening stance.
“дорогая?” You looked up at him, confusion glazing over his eyes for a moment before he grabbed you by your throat.
“Dragă. Bucky. Honey. Please, come back,” you whimpered, eyes starting to tear up from the pain you felt physically and mentally.
“Through this life and the next,” you whispered, feeling conciousness slipping away.
With a sudden jerk you were let go, then caught in his arms.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” he repeated over and over again.
“Bucky.” You panted and looked up from his chest, took his face into your hands.
“I’m so sorry.” He had tears in his eyes.
“It’s okay. It’s not your fault that they did this to you,” you whispered.
“Bucky!” Steve came down the stairs and stopped right there, eyeing all the dead guards and both of you.
“Steve, we need to go. Now!” Bucky urged.
“Why?”
“There are more people like me, he asked about them when I was gone. We need to get to Siberia. Somehow!” Steve’s eyes widened for a second before he nudged his head.
“Be safe.” You looked at Bucky and kissed his cheek before they went off.
You’d signed the accords as a semi-active Avenger. Explaining yourself to Steve. He understood, he wanted you safe, just how he wanted Natasha to be safe. You weren’t part of any response team, you weren’t part of the big fight. All you did was watch and wait for someone to make contact.
Your phone rang, unknown number, “Yeah?”
“Wanna go to the safest place on earth?” Steve asked on the other end.
“Sure.” You grinned.
“Rooftop, 11pm.”
And you were on your rooftop at 11pm, a jet making itseld visible to you. Only Steve in it.
You frowned, “Steve…”
“He got hurt. Is already all stitched up again. He’s cryo-ed while the princess of Wakanda works on getting the brainwashing out. I only trust you with protecting him and helping him through it.”
“He’s…” you were dizzy from all the new information, “Alright, Cap.”
The chamber opened. It had been a little over 6 weeks. You couldn’t wait for him to recover from now on.
His eyes blinked open and caught you immediately and a sleepy smile played on his lips.
“Hey дорогая,” he mumbled, getting out of the chamber and snaking his arm around you.
“Hey baby.” A small whisper before sinking deeper into the hug.
“I missed you,” he mumbled.
“I missed you too.”
“We have a lot to catch up on, dear.” He smiled down at you.
“Then let’s start.” You smiled back up.
