Rui, Emu, and Nene were all asleep at Tsukasa's house. The four of them had just had a sleepover, and were quite tired from chatting and laughing and eating snacks through the night. They probably fell asleep around 2:00 am, despite the fact that they promised to all stay awake the entire night. Around 4:00, though, Nene woke up. She was used to staying up at night - usually from gaming so much. She rubbed her eyes and looked around at the other showtime performers, who were all sound asleep. Emu was on the floor next to her bundled up in a sleeping bag, Rui was asleep against a few pillows next to the couch, and Tsukasa was sleeping on the couch. Tsukasa was snoring and laying down in a particularly silly manner, making Nene have to surpress her laugh in order to not wake anyone else up. *Well*, she thought to herself, *It'll be a while until everyone else is awake. I should probably do something quiet to entertain myself...*
Nene pulled out her portable video game console. She lowered the volume all the way down and began to play her favorite game. A little while later, though, she heard a bit of noise from next to her. She turned her head to see Emu, who seemed to be stirring a bit in her sleep. She was twitching a bit and shaking her head. "Hm? Emu, are you alright?" Nene whispered softly. Emu kept twitching and shaking her head. "No... no..." She sleepily mumbled, her voice with a twinge of fear.
*She must be having a nightmare,* Nene thought to herself. She stretched out her hand and nudged Emu's shoulder a few times. After a bit of encouragement to wake her up, Emu suddenly sat up and gasped. She looked around, paranoid. It took a second for her to register her surroundings, but her eyes finally laid on Nene. "Emu, are you okay?" Nene asked quietly again.
Emu frowned and, without warning, she threw her arms around Nene in a big hug. She burried her face into Nene's shoulder. Nene returned the hug, but still wasn't sure what was wrong. Then, she heard a sniffle from Emu. Nene was about to say something else, but Emu's sniffles turned into silent crying. She rubbed her eyes, trying to get the tears out. "Emu?" Nene asked.
"I..." Emu whimpered. "I had a b-bad dream..." Nene furrowed her brows. "Ah. It's okay, I'm here"
Nene let Emu get all her tears out, continuing to hold her in a hug. After a while, Emu's crying finally slowed down. "I dreamt something bad happened to you!" Emu whisper-yelled. "I thought I lost you..."
Nene's expression softened, she gave her a caring smile. "Emu, I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. I'll always be here with you." Emu tightened her arms around Nene, giving her one last squeeze before finally letting go. She yawned, considering she was still sleepy and woke up earlier than she wanted to. "Go back to sleep," Nene told her gently. "I'll be right here with you."
Emu returned the smile. It wasn't exactly her usual bubbly smile, but it was a big improvement from how she was feeling earlier. That sparkle in her eyes returned, although they were still visibly droopy from sleepiness. "Okay! ☆" She grinned, trying her best to stay quiet and not wake up the other two who were still sleeping. "Sweet dreams," Nene wished her.
and then tsukasa jumped up from the couch and yelled "OOOOOOH THE LESBIANS 🫵🫵 THE WUH LUH WUH COUPLE" and nene threw a brick at his head.
