The moon casts silver light over the beat-up leather seats of the truck you and Lee stole from one of your victims weeks earlier. The radio is inaudible, and the crunch of the dirt road drifts in through the window. Your feet are dangling out the window, warm air licking your face.
“Lee?” Your voice is soft; you’ve been drifting in and out of sleep for hours. His warm hand is on your head, playing with a strand of your hair.
“Hm?” His eyes are focused on the road, his thumb drumming gentle beats on the steering wheel. “I’m pulling over soon. Is that okay? I was looking at the map at the rest stop earlier, and there’s a lake nearby; do you want to go for a swim?”
“Yeah…” Before you can stop it, your eyelids close again, the sounds of the countryside lulling you back to sleep.

You’re awoken to the car slowing and Lee slowly running his hand through your hair.
“You up?” He asks softly.
“Yeah..” You yawn and stretch, sitting upright in the seat.
“I’m gonna go for a swim, do you want to join?”
He tosses his shirt in the middle of you two and starts untying his shoes. You let your eyes wander over his body before you remove your sweater and skirt, pushing your boots off and leaving them to rest on the floor of the truck.
“Yeah, it’s nice out.” Your feet hit the wet grass near the lake as you slam the door shut behind you. Lee joins your side and kisses the top of your head, pulling you closer by the waist. A small laugh leaves your lips, and he spins you, kissing your forehead.
The cold water wraps around your ankles as you enter the lake, Lee's arm still wrapped around your waist. You can feel him staring at you, so you both wade deeper into the body of water.
“You look beautiful.” He holds your face in his hands, kissing you. As he pulls away, you join your lips with his again, giggling as he spins you. You pull back and lie down in the water, the cold liquid making your scalp tingle. Tiny water droplets hit your face as Lee splashes his feet next to you.
“Stop! Asshole!” You giggle, pushing his shoulder.
“Hey!” He laughs back, pushing you back down into the water. You retaliate, jumping on his back and forcing him to topple back down into the water. He flips you under him, and you push at his face as he kisses you.
Escaping his grasp, you scramble onto the grass and run to the truck, crawling into the bed. A few moments later, Lee's shadow casts over you before the creak of metal as he climbs into the truck next to you follows. He settles in next to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders as you look through the trees and up at the stars.
A soft sigh leaves your lips, and you let your eyes close, snuggling into his torso as the frogs around you croak. You slowly let your heavy eyes shut and let out one last long sigh before falling into a peaceful sleep.
