Work Text:
That morning, Mikan had told them that she needs them all to come to the hospital throughout the day to get their vaccines.
When she said it, Fuyuhiko felt his heart stop for a second, then beat faster. He would never admit it to anyone, but he was scared of needles. How could the ultimate yakuza, raised around violence and crime, be scared of getting a shot? The only one who knows is Peko, yet he was sure she thought he was scared of it as a kid, not anymore.
> Hi, could you come over to the hospital right now? You’re the only one left… [6:32pm]
A text from Mikan lit up his phone screen. After breakfast, he locked himself in his room and tried to take his mind off of the thought of a vaccine for the whole day. He knew she would eventually ask him to come but… he hoped she could somehow forget about him.
> Sure, coming now. [6:33pm]
He reluctantly got out of bed and made his way to the hospital. He tried to stall, take the longest route, but eventually he had to end up at the hospital.
He hesitated a bit before knocking on the door of the exam room, but walked in anyway, trying to seem confident.
“Oh! Fuyuhiko, you’re here! You can… u-um… sit over t-there…” Mikan greeted him and started preparing her tools.
Fuyuhiko still pretended to be totally okay and totally not scared despite the smell of antiseptic making his head swim a little.
“Okay, can you please roll your sleeve?” Mikan asked.
He did as he was told and Mikan cleaned his arm. As she did that, she felt how tense he was.
“U-um, could you loosen up your arm a bit?” she asked, worried she might upset him.
“Oh yeah, sure…” Fuyuhiko tried his best to relax his muscles, but it wasn’t very easy when he was so stressed.
Mikan sensed that something was wrong and that Fuyuhiko was scared. She didn’t mention it, she just decided to ease his stress as much as she could.
“I’m just gonna count down from 3 and when I say 1, please exhale, okay?” Fuyuhiko nodded his head in response.
3…
2…
1…
He closed his eyes shut and exhaled. Mikan was quick and gentle. She put a bandaid on and checked his pulse.
“Are you feeling lightheaded?” she asked, feeling his pulse being higher than normal.
“A little, i guess…” he responded, his words barely above a whisper.
“You can lay down, since you need to stay here for about 10 minutes in case of a reaction anyway.”
He lay down as Mikan started cleaning her tools and gathering everything.
“Hey Mikan…”
“Y-yeah?”
“Thank you…”
She smiled, understanding what he meant. “No problem! This is my job after all!”
