Chapter Text
The trees gently ratted as the soft wind passed through their blotches of moss and deep seaweed colored leaves. Her dark brown hair began to slowly undo the lightly braid that her father had done hours before. Just as the wind seemed to catch her it pressed between the gaps of the braids and danced with the wind. Her hair tie left when the final stand was undone. It fell behind going unnoted, as she continued to run past. The wind continued to follow her passing by and hugging her body.
The mixture of the cold air made her heating body seem as if it was floating with each step she took. It wasn't long till she began to hit her hips on the trees surrounding her. The lefts and rights that she had carefully planned on her way here began to dissipate with each crash on the trees. They only seemed to guide her deep in the forest where she became less protected. The falling leaves began to mimic this worn out dance guiding where the women might find this girl.
Alois is (was) stupid. She always relied on this sharp wit that she believed she had, yet it was nothing short of privilege. The Elders were right. So she promised to prove them wrong. She made that promised to always seek more. She traveled beyond the walls, and she knew others had aswell. The forest was always alluring for the kids even if they were warned of the dangers. The gentle eyes of Ozark Path grew dissipated the more, and more difference of opinions came. Alois eyes moved precisely before she felt what was like a hand on her shoulder.
Her body jumped only to feel her hair being tugged on. It slowly intertwined itself with her frizzy curled hair before yanking it once more. The wind began to pick up around her feet spinning her around then dropping her with the leaves that played along. When the wind seemed to catch her before the women did Alois was dazed, yet she pulled herself up carefully. She curled her fingertips on the rough bark just before clinging on to the tight tree.
The woman approached her far gentler than how she first met the girl. Alois had wanted to take a step back when she saw her. However as she took that step she crunched the leaves under her foot, and the wind brushed around her. It danced around her playing with her gentler and pushed her foreword. Alois huffed as she was being forced to content herself with the women. A moss green leaf gently danced till it planted itself on her face playfully while the women observed her.
The woman didn't expect someone that young to be who she was chasing. Those eyes that were planted on the girl before slowly drifted to the forest behind the girl. The leaves stayed intact with the trees creating this glimmer effect that was caused by the wind. The rest fluttered around them while the women directed her gaze to the girl. The forest was no help in ensuring that there was no trap, yet the women kneeled before Alois. The girl looked no more than 10 years old with leaves mixed in with her frizzy almost knotted hair that the wind had caused.
Marceil gently pulled her hand up near the sides of her own face. Once her fingers traced the smooth fabric lined with lace outline she pulled the hood back. Her left ring finger twitched, as she slowly pushed it off. She felt the moonlight shine on her face before she saw the girl filling in her mind with what she looked like.
It never occurred to her what she may have looked like to the girl now. The girl remained still matching together the times she did catch glimpse of the women. How many times did she see Marceil, and in what way? The forest was still dark even with the dim star light that pierced through the trees. Marceil attempted to break the silence.
“How long?”
“How do you do that?”
Alois ignored her question finding her own more important. Her eyes gently flicked to her own hand before pausing. She's seen the women do things differently than her own clan, and mimicked one of Marceil hand movements poorly. Sparks of a beating fading light came out from her palm, not long before the wind whisked it away. Marceil tiled her letting out a huff. She calmed her eyes before her head gently tilted as she smiled.
“Like this” Marceil held her palm up before covering her other hand. She lifted it up showing a great flame that danced happily with the wind. Alois was amazed, so attempted it again. Marceil sighed once more, but it came out light hearted. So she showed her how to create her own dancing little flame.
