Work Text:

It was like winning the lottery. “His majesty Krad Hikari, ordered a makeover!” Veronika yelled. Both her and her sister Linda were rather poor and never met a royal before. “What´s the date?!” Veronika violently listed trough the calendar. Linda was still on the phone with the butler, trying to stay calm and mouthed to her sister “February 14.” Linda nodded and wrote it down with excitement. “We are free but if we weren´t it would be ok to cancel whoever had the term first, after all they wouldn´t pay that well. We literally stroked a goldmine!”

The day finally came. The Anderson sisters were rather excited thinking they made it big, considering the king ordered them to work for him. Not knowing he simply didn´t want to pay much for his wife´s makeover. After all, Katarin already costed him enough money. After all darks are easy to hire and wouldn´t ask for too much money. Since they don´t have enough of bread, it´ll be enough to give them money for grocery shopping.

Veronika and Linda were already prepared. They´ve spend all the pay they´ve gotten into transforming their small salon into best looking on in town. After all, they are about to make it big. They were rubbing their hands and celebrating becoming rich and affording the best spot in town. Nothing could have stopped them.

“Good afternoon. I see that everything is prepared.” Krad walked into the salon, leaving the owners in awe. “Come on in. We are ready for you, your majesty.” Linda tried to stay professional while Veronica stayed in a corner, fangirling from far. Krad blinked, after all he just came to tell them to get their things ready and prepare his wife in the castle. He sighed softly, watching all the other customers watching him. Fortunately, there were like 2 other people apart from him.

Krad sat down into the chair, staying calm as he already took off his ponytail. “Alright. Give me your best work and I will pay you accordingly.” After all, they´ll be probably unable to bring themselves to do more than a trim, considering his position. And trim can be anywhere from 10 eur to possibly free of charge. “Yes, one moment.” Veronika walked fastly towards Linda and whispered. “Linda, what should I do, I´ve never given a haircut or a makeover to a king before.” “Relax, you´ve used to style the leader of darks, that´s like the same thing.” Linda dusted off an old book with hairstyles, listing to find a picture of the first leader.

“See… considering the first and the last leaders had purple hair we can totally give him a dye and then style him. He might have white wings but that´s the only difference angels have from darks.” Veronika silently nodded, but kept shaking.

“Are we really allowed to do anything that will suit you?” Veronika asked her customer, the king, while washing his long blonde hair. “Of course.” He was growing more and more impatient, after all, they were supposed to be styling his wife not him. They wouldn´t do anything drastic, firstly it would waste time and secondary he was the king.

Veronika prepared the dye and started working. Bleaching would be unnecessary. The deep purple was catching well. Linda was giving her thumbs up while working on a different customer, silently being jealous of her older sister. After the colouring Veronika swiftly cut and styled the customers hair. After all Dark wasn´t too much different looking from the current king.

“All set.” She smiled and handed Krad a mirror. “Take a look, I think you will like it, your majesty.” Krad was in shock. Not in a good way. His eyes went narrow and he looked at the stylist. “What have you done? I was expecting you to make me look presentable.” “Well, considering you are a king and the only politician I have had styled was the first leader, I didn´t expect that it´s too much of a different position.” Veronika was trembling, speaking in a German accent.

“Tell me, miss Anderson. Do you work for free or would you rather pay with your life?” He didn´t give her time to answer. Veronika thought will go with a bang, unfortunately she ended up with a different one. People screamed. “Silence!” The king fired at his people. Floor got decorated with blood. He then looked down at miss Anderson, laying in pile of blood. Holding the gun in hand, he stepped down on her back and banged her head. “I do not do refunds.” Everyone else, left the salon immediately in panic. Although nobody else died, one customer got shot in their arm. Linda hid in a bathroom, covering her mouth making sure she won´t make a sound. She was still hoping her sister was alive. Krad looked at his reflection in the window, his wife will sure have a good laugh about it.

He left the crime scene and went straight back to the castle. He made enough mess to try to make the second sister pay. His butler stared at him, not saying anything. Krad silently handed him his coat. “Wash this for me, please.” Acting as though nothing was out of the ordinary. He walked away and sat down in his study aften washing the blood of his hands. Trying to read the newspaper like nothing had happened. He had no reason to bring the hairdresser into the castle. His impulsiveness got the best of him at the moment. What will his loyal citizens think, if the story gets published in newspaper. Time to bribe all the newspapers to not share the “misinformation”. Krad was deeply in though when he heard knocking on the doors. He sighed. “Come in.” His daughter Anette Charlotte walked in.

“What happened?!” Krad sighed expecting his daughter to be either scared or laughing. “I went to a salon to surprise you, my dear. I wanted something truly special for you.” “You look quite handsome like this.” Anette played with her father´s now purple hair. “I want to have a haircut like this. Can I go there?” She asked happily. “Sweetie, I do not think the business is open anymore.” He picked up his daughter and kissed her on the head. “If they were I would have given them all the money in the world.”
