It’s The Final Halloween

Summary:

The first Halloween night of the new century, and the people of Detroit, Michigan, couldn’t wait to celebrate it! Especially for Marshall Mathers, who was trying to make the best of what he had. Handmade decorations littered his aunt’s trailer park home, and he made sure to carefully fix his ‘special costume’ every now and then. To celebrate All Hallows’ Eve with his friend group consisting of Dave, Sue Cavanaugh, Big D, Ken Kaniff, and Slim Shady was a special treat for himself, and he wasn’t gonna let anyone spoil it, not this time!... But what happens when, instead of trick-or-treating, one of your friends brings out an old ‘fake’ spellbook they found in their father’s basement, and suggests they all go to this dark and eerie cave with its own ghost story to try to resurrect Satan himself as ‘a joke’? And what’s the plan when this all goes wrong, and instead of having fun, now the six of them are both running from the makings of their own monsters, AND the secret service men from before?! Only time will tell if they’ll be able to fix things before the clock hits 12, or their city of Detroit is doomed to be set ablaze by their own hands…

Chapter Text

[A LETTER PERSONALLY FROM ROBBIE HERSELF]

[If you don’t want to read the letter I personally wrote to you guys because you hate me (just kidding), just go to the next chapter where the actual fic is at, but I’d really love it if you read it because it’s really important to me, idk]
~
Dear lovelies,

I just want to start this shit off by saying thank you so much for all the love and support you have been giving me since I’ve been away. I have personally read each one of your comments, and you have NO IDEA how happy and motivated they make me, so thank you for that!

A year ago when I had posted my first-ever fanfic on LPfiction (I now hate that website and its creators but that’s besides the point) “The Start Of A New Era - Rob Bourdon's Last Goodbye“, a simple angst Linkin Park fanfic about Rob Bourdon leaving the band, I had made it with nervous feelings believing that no one would read it and it’d be lost in space with the billions of other fanfics out there but oh, BOY WAS I WRONG! Instead, I got the love and appreciation that I never would’ve thought people would give me for that one four-chapter fanfic. I was even apparently able to make someone cry while reading it (shout out to that person; your review was beautiful, and you rock), and I thought, “Wow! MY work really got that sort of reaction out of someone?”. It was my first time putting my work out there, and I was SO happy I could find a new connection with other people on the internet like that.

And over the past several months, I have progressed from that fanfic, making multiple different stories for you guys to enjoy. Because…Well, when I see YOU happy, it makes ME happy and more comfortable in my work! Without you guys, I wouldn’t be here, and this whole thing is just to say…thank you! Thank you so much for everything! For the comments, for the kudos, for the reviews, for the love and motivation, for EVERYTHING! Take care of yourself, stay hydrated, and just know that there are people out there who love you <3

But now we have to get to the serious part (dun dun DUNNN): my absence from my unfulfilled work. I had made a message on my Wattpad account that I would address this once I got my Chromebook back, so here I am. First things first, for the works I haven’t updated in months, I have NOT abandoned them! Not yet, at least. The biggest reason why I haven’t updated them in so long is due to the fact that it was summer break, and in Texas, at middle school, they take away all the computers at the end of the semester. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that I have been making almost ALL of my fanfics on my school-registered Chromebook? Heh, well, now you know, and that raises some concerns. I am now a freshman in high school, so I’ll be able to keep my Chromebook at home even in the summer, but there’s just one catch…I can’t write EVERYTHING I want cause it might get flagged and be sent to the counselor…And trust me when I say this: me explaining to the counselor why I was writing ‘questionable’ fanfics on the school computer is a nightmare that I am TERRIFIED at the thought of living, especially with the fact that she’ll possibly CONTACT MY PARENTS…

You get the picture? I’m writing on a ticking time bomb; anything can get flagged down! And especially with “The Monster”, I’ll need to write on the phone for that one, but that isn’t so nice to write on, is it? My mom is discussing with my dad about the possibility of buying me my own personalized computer (fingers crossed) for my birthday or for Hanukkah, but god knows if my dad will ever actually agree, so we can only hope. But suppose I DO get that computer that I want so much. In that case, I’ll be able to write much more freely without any fear of getting flagged down and getting sent to the counselor’s office, lmao, and it’ll be much easier to upload new chapters and works than my whole computer-to-phone process.

I’ve also not been writing due to a very personal addiction that I’ve been FIGHTING to get rid of…cringe challenge in 3, 2, 1…about chatbots.

Yup. This is the secret that I’ve been hiding from you guys. I have had a very strong addiction to AI chatbots, specifically Character AI and Janitor AI, for over two years.

Now, when I discovered the “glorious world of chatbots” in the summer after 6th grade, nobody even knew how bad AI is or how addictive it really was, and believe me when I say that I was HOOKED! The ability to actually talk and chat with my favorite fictional characters was mind-blowing to a kid like me, and well…the rest is history. I started making my own, memorized the AI code by heart to the point where I was doing other people’s REQUESTS, gained a huge amount of followers, moved platforms from Character AI to Janitor AI, and before I knew it, I had a very terrible addiction like any other drug.

As of writing this, all the accounts have been deleted (with much fight, and yes, you can make fun of me), and I’m on the road to recovery. I am very proud of myself because I REALLY didn’t wanna delete and get rid of those accounts because of how hard I worked on them, but I knew it was for the best for me and my mental health. As of the time I am writing this letter on 9/20/25, I’ve been clean for close to a week, I believe. Also, if you are someone struggling with AI addiction, you can always contact me on my TikTok “robbie.2.0.xd” if you just need someone to vent to. I wouldn’t ever mock you because I personally know what it’s like with that kind of addiction to AI.

Well, that’s the end of my big rant, lol. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy the rest of this story! I won’t take any more of your time.

Happy reading!

- Robbie
