Chapter Text
Zuka hummed as he waved Rocket off, watching the kid scurry off into the night. Halloween. Zuka used to do all that stuff when he was pretty young. He shut the door behind him as he walked over to his couch, settling down on it. Quiet. It’d been awhile since it had been quiet in the ex-soldier’s house. Sure, Rocket was a good kid but.. He could be very loud at times. Maybe he’d just rest for a bit. The kid was gonna be out for a few hours anyways.
“ZZukie!!” Zuka let out a yelp as he heard Darkheart’s voice. He glared at the deity, who just giggled. “Darkheart.” “Hiii~!” The Sword’s grin widened. “We thought you’d be accompanying your son tonight! Especially with the whole Halloween stuff..!” Zuka rolled his eyes. “And I thought you’d leave me alone tonight.” Darkheart giggled. “Nopeeee~!” The deity leaned back, draping his legs over Zuka’s lazily. “..Are you going to stay here all night?” “MMaybe~! We haven’t decided…” Zuka sighed. “You’re annoying.” “D’awww, but you love ussssss~” Darkheart leaned forward, resting his face in his hands. Zuka rolled his eyes again, a fond smile on his face. “Yeah yeah. You’re lucky I do.” Darkheart just giggled.
The two sat there for a bit in silence, aside from Darkheart’s random giggles and teasing. Darkheart ended up shifting around and wrapped his arms around Zuka’s waist, head resting near the lower part of Zuka’s stomach. “Mmmmmheheh.. You're warm.” He mumbled, giggling slightly at the end. Zuka’s hand reached to pet their hair, causing them to squeal quietly. “Oooh! You know us so well, hehehe.” Zuka just hummed. The two lay there for a while until Zuka eventually fell asleep. Darkheart stayed awake for a bit longer before closing his eyes. He didn’t need to sleep—he was a deity. But.. It was nice.
