Treat or Treat

Summary:

It's Halloween and Sebastian is home alone, until someone rings the doorbell late in the evening.

Notes:

It's a Halloween fic, but it's very sweet and fluffy because I'm very bad at writing anything remotely scary.

Work Text:

When the doorbell rang, Sebastian reluctantly put his book aside to open the door. He grumbled to himself, but he only had himself to blame.

Today was Halloween and he’d agreed to open his house up for children who were going to walk around the neighbourhood, trick or treating. His doorbell had been ringing non-stop since sunset, but now that it was past 10pm, he thought that those children must’ve gone to bed.

Apparently not.

The doorbell rang again and Sebastian resisted the urge to yell at his visitor. He’d put away his bowl of candies and was ready to retire for the night, but it looked like he had one more visitor to entertain. As he picked up the candies from the table by the door, he made a mental note to turn off the lights after this. That way, hopefully, nobody would bother him for the rest of the night.

Sebastian opened the door to find his fiancé, Ciel, standing at their front porch.

“Treat or treat!” Ciel greeted the older man cheerfully, holding out a pumpkin shaped bucket as his eyes moved to the bowl of candies in Sebastian’s hand.

“What on earth are you doing? Did you lose your key? And aren’t you supposed to be at work? I thought you said you had a meeting until midnight.”

“Treat or treat!” Ciel repeated, shoving the bright orange bucket in his fiancé’s face.

“Aren’t you too old to be trick or treating?” Sebastian asked, raking his eyes across his fiancé’s outfits. The younger man was still wearing the white shirt and black tie that he’d worn when he left the house a few hours ago, but instead of his suit jacket and coat, he was now wearing a brown inverness cape with a matching deerstalker. “And what the hell are you supposed to be? Sherlock Holmes?”

Ciel scowled, “Did you use that kind of language to interrogate the kids? No wonder your bowl is still full.” He looked pointedly at the bowl of candies.

“Of course not! And I'll have you know that this is the second bowl.” Sebastian stepped aside to let Ciel in.

But Ciel didn’t move.

“Are you coming inside or are you going to stand here all night?” Sebastian raised his eyebrows questioningly.

Once again, Ciel held up the orange bucket, “Treat or treat!”

Sebastian blinked, “Where did you get that...? You know what, never mind.”

“Well?” Ciel looked at Sebastian expectantly, “Are you going to give me my treats or do I have to take it myself?”

“What kind of trick or treaters take their own treats?” Sebastian said. “How unbelievably inappropriate.”

“You ask too many questions, mister!” Ciel lunged forward, hand reaching for the bowl of candies in Sebastian’s hand.

“Whoops...” Sebastian grinned as he moved out of Ciel’s reach while his other hand shot out to catch the younger man as he stumbled forward. “Careful there, little Sherlock.” He whispered in Ciel’s ear, “Wouldn’t want to hurt yourself without getting your treats now, would you?”

“Bastard...” Ciel hissed lowly as he righted himself. Once he was back on his feet steadily, he glared at the taller man viciously, which didn’t seem to bother Sebastian.

“My apologies.” Sebastian said, “Shall we start again?”

Ciel let out a huff but he held out his orange bucket once more, “Treat or treat?”

“Isn’t it supposed to be tricks or... Aaargh!” Sebastian yelled when this time, Ciel threw his entire body forward. He dropped the candies in favour of catching the smaller man in his arms as they both stumbled backwards and would’ve fallen onto the floor if he wasn’t used to this kind of stunts.

“You talk too much and ask too many questions!” Ciel said, “I guess I’ve got to take matters into my own hands, eh?” He crashed their lips together in a fierce kiss. “Mmm... That’s one treat... And now, for my other treat...” He wiggled out of Sebastian’s arms to pick up a handful of candies that had scattered on the floor before walking away, “Close the door, will you?”

“Brat...” Sebastian muttered as he closed the door and slid the lock into place.

“Oi! I heard that!” Ciel yelled as he turned into the kitchen. He grabbed himself a bottle of soda from the fridge before perching himself on the bar stool and dumped his candies on the island. He picked a chocolate and shrugged his coat off, letting it slide to the floor in a messy heap.

“You know...” Sebastian said, leaning on the doorway, holding Ciel’s hat and orange bucket, “After the stunt that you’ve pulled, I think I more than deserve my own treat.”

“Getting greedy, are we?” Ciel sneered as he munched on his chocolate bar.

In response, Sebastian straightened up and plopped Ciel’s hat on his own head and slowly stalked over to where Ciel was sitting. He flashed his fiancé a wolfish grin that was full of promises.

The said fiancé remained calm and poised as he watched Sebastian approach. He continued to munch on his treat unbothered, but a shiver ran down his spine at the predatory look on his beloved's face.

When Sebastian reached Ciel, he wasted no time and pounced on the slighter male, tickling his sides mercilessly.

“Aaaahh!! Stop! STOP!!” Ciel shrieked as he squirmed around in his seat. “Let me go, you big bully!”

“Oh, is someone ticklish?” Sebastian taunted, “How very unfortunate...”

“Noo! Stop!” Ciel continued to giggle as he tried to get away from the wriggling fingers. Unfortunately, he was completely trapped and had nowhere to run. “SEBASTIAN MICHAELIS, STOP! I SWEAR TO GOD... NOOOO!!”

When Ciel started wheezing a few moments later, Sebastian immediately stopped his tickling. He patted Ciel’s back comfortingly as he checked on the young man, “You ok, love?”

Ciel panted lightly as he nodded, trying to calm his racing heart and he took a few deep breaths, “Y-Yeah...”

“Was that too much? I’m sorry...” Sebastian said apologetically.

Ciel shook his head this time, “I think I kinda deserved it...” He flashed his fiancé a grin, letting him know that he was alright.

Sebastian returned his smile and gave Ciel a quick kiss. “How was your day, baby?” He asked when they parted.

“It was awful...” Ciel pouted, “Everything is a mess and we lost that deal because some idiots couldn’t do their job properly.”

“I’m sorry, love...” Sebastian said and wrapped his arms around Ciel’s waist from behind, resting his chin on the younger’s shoulder. “I know you’ve been working hard for that deal.”

Ciel hummed, “It’s fine. There’s nothing to be done now. How about you? How was your day?” He turned his head so that he could look at Sebastian’s face.

“It was fine.” Sebastian replied, “Everyone showed up to class in costumes and someone decided that it was a good idea to pull a prank on me.”

“Yeah?” Ciel smiled, “What did they do?”

“They put a bucket of glitter on top of the door. Fortunately for me, I was late to class due to a phone call. Unfortunately for Finny, he went to class ahead of me. He was still sparkling when he left the campus a few hours later.”

Ciel let out a guffaw, “Poor guy! Those glitters won’t come off for weeks!”

“Speaking from personal experience?” Sebastian teased.

Ciel hummed contentedly as he leaned back into Sebastian’s chest. “You wouldn’t believe the amount of glitter that Lizzie has dumped on me and Edward. I still have nightmares about it sometimes, that I sparkle like a freaking disco ball like that vampire from that movie...”

Sebastian laughed, “I believe you. You’re still shining as brightly as the day I met you. Must be all of those glitter.”

“Flattery won’t get you nowhere, mister.” Ciel chided him lightly, but he leaned up to kiss Sebastian anyway.

“It got me a kiss, didn’t it?” Sebastian smiled against Ciel’s lips before pulling away, “Now then, in the spirit of Halloween, how about we treat ourselves with a nice hot bath? I even got you a special bath bomb, Halloween themed, of course.” He straightened up and held out his hand.

Ciel hopped down from the stool and accepted the proffered hand and followed Sebastian upstairs to their bedroom where the outside world became nothing more than a background noise as they turned their full attention on each other.
