Work Text:
As the moon faded with the last remnants of the night sky, the sun began to rise above the horizon, greeting everything with its warm, shining glow. Drops of dew glisten on the blades of grass under the warm sun. Birds started to chirp their sweet morning melodies in the morning air. And then there was Felix, in bed, soundly asleep.
The sun grew brighter and began to shine through the partly open blinds of the bedroom, illuminating everything with a golden glow. The morning light shined on Felix, making him stir in the sheets. After turning to his side, his eyes finally fluttered open, and a soft smile instantly was pasted to his face when his eyes met with her. The individual whom he cared for the most in this world, the person who made his life so much brighter, and the one who claimed his heart. His precious Fallen Angel.
A content sigh left his lips as he stared at her beauty. He cherishes how she’s the first thing he sees in the morning and the last at night; This is one of the things he loves. He was glad to see that his sleeping beauty was sleeping peacefully and getting some well-deserved rest after a long week of hard work.
One of the things he loves about her is how hard-working and determined she is. He found it attractive how determined she was. It was truly admirable how hard she’d worked to accomplish her dreams and goals. There’s always something that she's working towards too and she’s constantly trying to improve herself on something as well. And she wouldn’t just work hard for herself, but she would work hard for others as well.
Another thing he loves about her is how she puts others before herself. She always seeks ways to help others. Whether it’s her family, friends, or even helping a stranger. Even when she’s tired or busy, she helps those around her. He respects and appreciates how self-sacrificing she is; A quality he wished he saw in more people, and then just maybe his Angel wouldn’t be so overworked. Her kind and caring heart was at the top of the list of things he loved about her.
He lay there still, where he was completely mesmerized by her breathtaking beauty. He began to examine every little feature of hers and admiring it. Admiring her adorable-shaped nose, her gorgeous, radiant skin, her silky hair that fanned delicately over part of her face. His gaze had landed on her soft, pumped, pink lips; something that was definitely on the top of the list of the things he loved. Unselfconsciously he found him licking his lips, wanting to feel hers on his own. He raised his hand closer to her, gently brushing his finger over her face, moving the strands of her hair out of her face. Now he could completely see her ethereal beauty.
Upon looking at her, he thought about something else he loved about her: her eyes. He adored her eyes. It was endearing to see them light up with happiness and beam with pride when she was proud of herself or him. Also, her eyes revealed the depth of her love towards him, which was truly heartwarming for the young male. The amount of joy she brought him was something he’ll always cherish and appreciate.
His fingertips grazed lower to her exposed shoulder, caressing her slightly textured skin, something she labeled as a “flaw”. However, that was the last thing Felix would have considered it. He loved her skin and loved to brush his fingers along her skin. And he made that known to her, telling her she was perfect the way she was.
Soft snores escaped passed her slightly parted lips. Felix couldn’t help but chuckle at how cute she was. He placed his hand on her cheek, then leaned in closer to leave a gentle peck on her forehead. A soft hum escaped from her lips; almost as if it was a response to his kiss. Felix had a smile on his face and giggled, finding it amusing that she responded even in her slumber.
Felix slowly gets up and places the soles of his feet on the golden-pecan wooden flooring. Gently and cautiously, he gets up from the bed, being careful not to disturb his partner who was sleeping soundly beside him. He was successful. He was relieved and let out a breath he didn’t realize that he was holding in. A fact about his precious Angel, she was a heavy sleeper most of the time. However, Felix swore she had a sixth sense for knowing when he got out of bed. And If she had woken up that would put a rut in his plans.
He quickly headed to the bathroom and rushed to do his morning routine. Then he headed to the kitchen; the place where creativity and passion meet to create delicious dishes…or disasters. After 45 minutes he returned to the bedroom, relieved to see that his angel was still sleeping peacefully. Now he was assured that his plan would go accordingly. The bed dipped as he sat down beside her, and to his surprise she remained in her slumbering position, not moving in the slightest. Felix was torn. He didn’t want to wake her up, but he wanted to make this morning a little special for her, and she needed to be awake for that.
The sensation of something was brushing gently against my forehead then slowly traveling down to the side of my temple. A familiar fragrance that was always so warm and comforting flowed into my nostrils. Warm air tickled my ear, and I felt the presence of someone who I loved dearly.
“Good morning Princess.” his deep husky voice echoed in my ear. Although he possesses one of the deepest voices and that would make him seem like a tough guy to others, he’s absolutely one of the sweetest, gentle people I know.
“Wakey wakey sleeping beauty. Come on, it’s time to wake up.” Sleeping Beauty huh? That gave me an idea. I wanted him to keep talking to me like this in this sweet tone. I wanted him this close to me. I wanted to prolong this moment just for a little longer.
“Babe~ wake up.” I remained still. “Do I need to kiss this Sleeping Beauty awake?” Now I was definitely not going to “wake up”. I wasn’t going to pass up on morning kisses.
I heard a deep chuckle from him, and a warmth filled my chest. “She’s still not waking up? Hmm? I guess I’ll have to kiss her then.” Now he was very close to me, I could feel his breath on my lips and mingling with my breath. My heart started to race, growing with excitement when I felt his pillowy lips barely graze over mine. He was teasing me. He let his lips hover over mine for what seemed like a short eternity. I heard another low chuckle before he finally latched our lips together, and I gladly kissed him back. A content sigh managed to escape, and I couldn’t help but smile into the kiss. He must have sensed it because he did the same too. We broke apart then I finally opened my eyes to see his deep brown eyes hovering over mine and that beautiful galaxy of freckles that graced his face.
“Good morning beautiful,” he said while rubbing our noses together.
“Good morning handsome.” I greeted him back with a smile as he interlocked one of our hands.
“How did you sleep?” he asked while pressing a kiss to my cheek.
“Good, really good.” He continued to tickle my skin with his nose.
“Glad to hear that.” Giggles escaped from my lips as he continued to tickle me. “I have a little surprise for you.”
“Hmm?”
“I have to go get it. Can you be patient?”
“For you, I could wait an eternity.”
“Good. I’ll be back in a sec then.” he kissed me one more time before getting up.
I watched him leave the bedroom with a smile on his face. Oh, how I love his radiant smile. His smile was like an arrow of sunshine piercing my heart and warming it. It always brings one to my face even on the toughest of days. His smile is just one of the many things I adore about him. He’s always there for me on those days and for that, I’m so thankful for.
He always calls me his angel, but he’s honestly mine. If it weren’t for my guardian angel, my sunshine in this dark world, I would have withered away by now. He helps me take care of myself when I forget or can’t.
Amongst this busy, never-slowing-down-for-a-minute life, he’s always there to remind me to slow down every once in a while, and just simply enjoy one of the greatest gifts in the universe. His love for life and enjoying it, is yet another thing I love about him.
Felix soon came back into the room with a wooden breakfast tray. Pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, and fruit –all the things you love for breakfast–were plated onto it. “Breakfast in bed for my Angel.” My heart melted at the sight of the kind deed and his precious smile. How did I get so lucky? He placed the tray on the bed, then I saw the paper origami he had made. He did it all the time for me, making paper flowers, animals, or anything else cute that would bring me joy. I will always appreciate and admire his work. That’s why I have a box dedicated just to the pieces of origami he made. Each folded piece holding a precious memory, and love. Add that to the list of the things I love.
“Oh, my goodness Felix, thank you. Everything looks delicious and this,” I picked up the little angel piece he made and held it up, “Is cute.” He chuckled a melodic sound to my ears, a sound that I would never grow tired of hearing. Add that to the list of things I love too.
“I’m glad you like the surprise, Love. That’s not all though.” My curiosity grew and I raised a curious eyebrow at him. On cue, he opened the drawer of the nightstand on his side of the bed and pulled out a light blue envelope. He then turned to me and placed it in my hands. “Here, just something to further explain the extent of my affection and gratitude.” I smiled feeling a slight warmth that filled my chest that reached my face. I opened the letter and . . .
A sting formed in the corner of my eyes as I read the words. I had never felt so appreciated, seen, or loved before. The declaration of love and the vows made to me—someone who vowed to help me reach my goals and to make me happy for the rest of their life—was something I never dreamt for myself.
Once I finished reading the letter, is when I felt the stream of tears that ran down my cheeks. I didn't bother wiping them before hugging Felix though. There were no words I could use to explain the love I had for him at that moment. Hugging was the closest thing I could ever get to show him how much I adore and cherish him at that moment. His arms wrapped around me tightly making me feel completely safe in his embrace.
“I love you too, Angel. So so so much.” He knew I couldn’t form words at this moment. He’s so attentive, yet another thing I adore about him.
After a few moments, we broke apart. He wiped a thumb across my cheeks, ridding the remnants of my tears of tenderness for him. “Let’s eat my, Lovel.” He reached for a strawberry on the tray and held it up for me to bite. It was sweet, but he was sweeter than anything else.
Felix is the most caring, sincere, affectionate man I know. He’s encouraging when I need it the most. His patience is always a virtue I admire and appreciate, always. His calmness is grounding for me, something I need at times. His joy is the most infectious, and I would do anything to keep bringing him joy.
He’s the cool, refreshing breeze in the summer.
He’s the cozy autumn clothes and the pumpkin spice in the fall.
He’s the fireplace and the hot-coco in the winter; keeping me warm and safe until I can fully bloom in Spring. He’s all the stuff you love in life.
He’s the first, second, third, and the rest of the list of the Things I Love.
