Eridan Ampora and his Matesprit, Sollux Captor, had been... dragged out to Halloween by Karkat. This was their first year ever participating in such a tradition. For learning sakes, John, Karkat (who's got all his knowledge from Corpse Bride and Practical Magic), and Terezi were their teachers. A rag-tag bunch, suited up in their costumes. Eridan was a wizard, ("not like magic is real, so i wwont offend anyone.") Sollux as Scott Pilgrim, John as Nicolas Cage in Left Behind, Karkat as Megan Bloomfeild, and Terezi as Judge Judy. John was excited to have some friends to go with, especially ones so... excited.
Terezi laughed loudly, slapping Karkat on the back as they approached the first house. "YOU 1D1OT! YOU S3R1OUSLY FORGOT YOUR B4G? YOUR NOT US1NG M1N3!!!" "I WOULDNT WANT TO USE YOUR BAG, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" John laughed lightly, but composed himself, shaking his head and speaking up. "you guys need to get it together! your gonna scare the people giving out candy!" Eridan laughed behind his hand, glancing behind him through the wide brim of his hat. Sollux just sighed, grabbing Eridans hand and leaning over to talk to him.
"wanna ju2t run ahead of them? tho2e iidiiot2 are draggiing u2 behiind and ii want butterfiinger2."
"i mean, i'm not completely opposed, but wwouldn't that be a bit rude?"
"who giive2 a 2hiit? they're annoyiing."
"true... wwhere do you wwant to go, anywways?"
"ii heard down the 2treet and to the left ha2 the riich hou2e2, and there2 a park to the left of iit."
Eridan grinned, meeting Sollux's smirk, before nodding and letting him lead the way. John sighed, watching them run away, leaving him to deal with Karkat and Terezi's bullshit. "SERIOUSLY? THEY JUST FUCKING LEFT? THOSE DAMNED LOVEBIRDS, I HOPE THEY GET HIT A CAR." Karkat huffed, crossing his arms and shaking his head. Terezi just laughed loudly before pointing at a house with a troll sitting at the porch. The troll looked just their age, with a bowl of candy next to him, with another troll sitting next to him. Looking closer, the bowl of candy wasn't candy at all- instead, a bowl full of those shitty clown noses you get at Walgreens and horns. That motherfucker, was that Gamzee? The trio walked up, with Karkat leading them.
it *was* Gamzee. and Tavros. Sharing a porch. Who's house was this? Oh sweet Jegus. Tavros was dressed as Peter Pan, and Gamzee was in a mimes costume.
"oH MY, lOOK, gAMZEE! iTS THOSE GUYS! gET THE BOWL! }:)" Tavros grinned and waved his hand, feet tapping the wood porch.
"oOoOh ShIt, FiRsT tRiCk Or TrEaTeRs. We DoN't BiTe, C'mErE mOtHaFuCkErS." Gamzee chuckled and gestured for the trio to come over, grabbing one of the horns out of the bowl.
"IS THAT FUCKING HORNS AND CLOWN NOSES? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? ARE YOU BOTH STUPID? TRICK QUESTION, YOU FUCKING ARE." Karkat scoffed and crossed his arms, shaking his head in disbelief.
"1 WOND3R HOW MUCH J41L T1M3 YOU GUYS WOULD G3T FOR B31NG SO OP3NLY G4Y W1TH 34CHOTH3R." Terezi laughed, earning a small chuckle from John.
Eridan and Sollux were walking together, holding each others hands, chatting mindlessly back and forth with smiles. Approaching the last house, the richest-looking one, with gold lining, marble floors and pearls decorating the banisters. Knocking on the door, someone approached and opened the door, a smile on her face, with some of her friends with her. Feferi, who seemed to be hosting a Halloween party with Rose and Aradia, had a big smile on her face. Aradia was in a sheet with the eyes cut out, Feferi was a cute version of a killer orca, and Rose was Christine Daaé.
"O)( my glub!!! )(i )(i )(i )(i!! Nice to sea you two!!"
"0h, hi s0llux and eridan. nice t0 see y0u guys n0t at each0thers thr0ats."
"You two? Not killing or kissing? That's surprising."
Eridan smiled when he saw his friends, walking up and catching up with them. Sollux occasionally butted in to chat with Aradia, usually about a video game or movie. Sollux and Eridan got their bags filled fully with candy and made their way to the park Sollux had mentioned. It was quiet and secluded, with wooden benches and trees all around.
They found a cute bench with trees and flowers around it. Eridan sat down, and Sollux sat across from him.
"2o... what do you thiink of thii2 2o far? you know, halloween?"
"i like it! its probably better wwith you being here, and its probably the only reason im havving fun, honestly, but its wworth it... to, um, to be here wwith you, sol."
"oh. um. thank you, erii. ii... ii feel the 2ame way, hone2tly... nobody under2tood who ii wa2, but, iit2 a biit better wiith you holdiing my hand."
Eridan blushed brightly, squeezing Sollux's hand and smiled. Sollux moved to sit next to Eridan, so they shared a bench. Cue hugging! Eridan buried his face into Sollux's shoulder, smiling against it. Eridan's fin brushed against Sollux's neck, making them both blush.
Karkat and Terezi had filled almost 3 pillowcases full by the time they were going home. They had also met up with Equius and Nepeta, who joined them. John had went home early, cause Dave wanted to watch Monster House. Equius spoke up with a thoughtful grin, though, he looked pretty stupid, considering he was in a Rainbow Dash onesie.
"D --> What candy did you guys get?"
":33 < we got a bunch together! i kept all the airheads though, sorry karkitty!"
"ITS FINE, I DON'T CARE. I HAVE ENOUGH CANDY TO FEED A WHOLE TOWN FOR YEARS."
"W3 4R3N'T G1V1NG SH1T TO YOU HORS3FUCK3R. LM4O."
Equius sighed and crossed his arms, shaking his head. Nepeta giggled lightly, before glancing back at Equius, which ended in Terezi getting a deadly glance. Nepeta was a bit hard to take seriously, too, cause of her big fake lion ears and puffy tail, which was buckled around her waist.
"AS LONG AS WE HAD FUN, IT'S FINE. I DIDN'T HATE IT." Karkat mumbled, shaking his head, earning a loud laugh from Terezi, who found the whole situation quite hilarious. "YOU GUYS 4R3 SO DUMB! W3 SHOULD JUST GO HOM3, 1TS BOR1NG 4ND W3'V3 GON3 TO 3V3RY HOUS3!!!" Equius nodded alongside Nepeta, who smiled. ":33 < actually, wheres sollux?" She asked, tilting her head to the side, looking up to Equius, who's eyebrows raised. "D --> I agree. Where is he? I thought he was with Eridan." Karkat sighed and spoke up. "HE RAN OFF WITH ERIDAN TO THE RICH NEIGHOURHOODS. THEY HAVEN'T COME BACK YET, THEY MIGHT BE AT THE PARK? IT WAS DOWN THE WAY THEY WERE GOING."
A loud collection of "ooooohhhh"s and one particularly loud "F4GGOTS!" were heard.
Karkat lead the way to the park, with Equius, Nepeta and Terezi trailing behind, all chatting brainlessly between themselves. Eridan and Sollux eventually came into view, holding hands and cheesily sorting their candy between one another. Sollux got all the chocolates and hard candies, and Eridan got the gummy sweets. Karkat scoffed at the sight of them, crossing his arms and speaking up from across the park.
"ARE YOU GUYS DONE MAKING OUT YET?"
"fuck you karkat, you biitch."
Eridan chuckled lightly at Sollux's sudden defensiveness, watching as Sollux flipped the group off.
"D --> A mutant lowb100d and such a highb100d? Unbelievable, correct, Nepeta?"
":33 < i dunno!! they s33m happy though!!"
"D --> True."
"4R3 YOU ON YOUR BLOOD SH1T 4G41N? SHUT TH3 FUCK UP 3QU1US"
Terezi cackled loudly and ran up to where Sollux and Eridan sat, finding a spot across from them, hauling a large pillowcase full of candy behind her. Karkat sighed and followed, sitting next to Terezi. Nepeta and Equius stayed back, finding another table, which coincidentally was inhabited by Gamzee and Tavros, who seemed to be trading. The autumn leaves that swirled in the air seemed to make everything just right, and, just for now, the moment was perfect. Friends, gathered around each other, spending time with one another, without fighting. Hell, after a while, Feferi, Aradia and Rose came out from Fef's house to hang out with everyone too, bringing hot tea, sandwiches, pumpkin pie and a huge blanket everyone could sit on.
The night was perfect, orange and warm, made even warmer with company.
