Work Text:
Yoo Joonghyuk was the ruler of this neighborhood- every cat knew it and followed his rule. He's gotten into many fights for power and he's always won, every single one of them.
Everyone knew not to mess with him and that it was best to just stay clear of yoo Joonghyuk. Only dumb ones actually sought-after him for fights.
Yoo Joonghyuk did not take kindly to those who broke the rules and caused trouble in his neighborhood.
(the rules were unspoken.)
He didn't take kindly to those who stole, who bullied others and tried to assert dominance.
Especially the cats who thought that they were better than everyone else and acted like they were.
In all honesty though, yoo Joonghyuk didn't really care for most of these rules. He could care a little bit, but what really set him off was those who knew these were Yoo Joonghyuk's rules, knew Yoo Joonghyuk didn't like these rules, and yet still did it.
That's what really set him off. It was like they were begging for a fight.
So when one of his students came to him, telling him about a new cat that had moved into the neighborhood and had started wreaking havoc by stealing, acting better, not to mention bullying some kids from elementary up to high school, this set Yoo Joonghyuk off.
How dare a newcomer move into HIS neighborhood, yoo Joonghyuk's territory and start causing destruction, acting the fool. The sheer audacity that cat had.
Yoo Joonghyuk made it a mission to catch this cat and teach them a lesson.
Maybe a quick beating or chase will make this cat back down.
But the only thing stopping him was that he had no clue who this cat was and how this cat looked liked. Now he just had to wait for his servants to bring up this cat again and mention how they look and possibly where their owner resides.
Much to Yoo Joonghyuk's disdain, he didn't enjoy waiting.
It was Monday and Yoo Joonghyuk decided to be gracious. He was going to pick up his servants from school today and walk them home to make sure they got home safe. He didn't need anything happening to them, especially with that new cat.
“Master, you remember that cat we told you about?” Yoo Joonghyuk's ears perked up at this question. Meowing gruffly in response. His meow must have sounded desperate since his servant continued, his other servant chimed in as well.
“I think that cats a she, she's way too pretty to be a boy, she's got a fancy collar and everything, her owners probably on the rich side of town” His second servant said, one with a black ponytail, her hands busy carrying Yoo Joonghyuk.
A female cat? That made things a bit awkward, he doesn't want to look like a brute.
(He already is one)
He'll just give her a stern talking to as a warning, and if she does it again, then he'll resort to a beating.
Yoo Joonghyuk hated the new cat already, how could a rich little cat waltz in his neighborhood and start wreaking havoc, acting like she was better.
“Master! Look, it's her!” His other servant said loudly, one with white hair.
Yoo Joonghyuk hopped out of his servant's arm faster than how a snake could strike. His paws thumped on the ground as he ran.
His servants could only look at him in shock, “Master must really be desperate…” The white haired servant said sullenly.
Yoo Joonghyuk doesn't go back or acknowledge the offensive statement. Too busy running into an alleyway where he had seen a flash of white speed into. He lost track of where the cat goes, but he doesn't give up.
He looked up and down, side to side, and in small crevices. But ultimately, it seemed like he lost her. Therefore, the only reasonable solution is to go to the cat's house.
He makes it to the end of the alleyway and into the street. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the richer side of town, but Yoo Joonghyuk doesn't care and runs for it. Getting closer and closer. Rich cats were certainly the worst.
After a while, Yoo Joonghyuk finally arrived, it wasn't hard to just slip through the gate and enter. There were rows of houses, each identical to the other. All lined up with cars in their driveway.
The gates separate the community into two, the rich and not rich.
Yoo Joonghyuk remembers every occupied house. They were all occupied except for the house all the way in the back, a larger house which definitely cost much more than a regular house in this community.
The house had been unoccupied for years, so it only made sense. Yoo Joonghyuk was certain that the cat lived there with their owner.
Yoo Joonghyuk takes his shot and goes to that very house, another 10 minutes of walking. But Yoo Joonghyuk didn't care.
His hunch was right, there was a cat door installed by the side of the door, one that has never been there before. By the windows, he can see boxes in the rooms. Opened and unopened.
Now Yoo Joonghyuk wasn't the one to just waltz into someone's house. He had morals and ethical standing.
And plus, it looked like the cat door was locked.
He took the initiative to just lay down on the porch, deciding to wait out until the cat came back outside to talk to her.
He laid in the shade, his dark fur not getting hot as the sun was blocked with the shelter above his head.
His hunch is correct as he hears commotion inside.
“You! Get back here this instant!” the female yells to without a doubt her cat who sprinted away and back out the kitty door. Surprising Yoo Joonghyuk as once again, he spots a white blur, sprinting out the cat door, running across the street and out the gate.
Yoo Joonghyuk didn't bother to wait a single second and immediately sprinted after the white cat. Both paws pattering against the street floor. Running across streets, grassy areas, wet floors, yet the two kept running until Yoon Joonghyuk lost track of the cat yet again, or so he thought.
Yoo Joonghyuk stood guard, he knew that the cat was around here somewhere, he just had to figure out where. He couldn't track him from his scent because the air was penetrated with the smell of nearby dogs. Something Yoo Joonghyuk hated.
Yoo Joonghyuk spent minutes searching for the cat, the sun was already setting and stores started lighting up their signs to signify they were still open. Eventually he stopped at the playground near the elementary. He walked around the park like a nighttime security officer.
Then a twig fell on him, shuffling, and then that's when he decided to look up, the white cat was up on the tree, laying down on the sturdy branch. The cat looks down at him in annoyance and in amusement.
“You have been following me for quite some time. If I do say so myself, I'm not even properly settled into this place and I already have a stalker,” the white cat said as she hopped down from the branch, landing with a soft thud.
“I am not a stalker.” Yoo Joonghyuk told the pretty white cat, the cat was indeed pretty, white untainted fur and doll-like eyes.
“Not one? But you chased me to my house, camped there and also chased me until now” the white cat told Yoo Joonghyuk, moving to sit down with her tail curled around her body.
“Thats different”
“How?”
“It just is, but that's not in here to talk about’’ you joonghyuk said as he looked at the white cat, upon more observations, she was slightly bigger than other female cats, but nevertheless was slender like one. Maybe not everyone, yoo joonghyuk did recall seeing a bigger female cat once. But the cat's voice was a bit off, it sounded a bit more deeper than a normal female cat. (not that yoo joonghyuk talked to many)
“Whatever, I won't be talking to some weirdo who likes stalking other cats,” the white cat said as she began walking away without looking back.
“Wait! I'm not done talking to you yet” yoo joonghyuk said as he quickly matched the pace of the cat, walking side by side.
“I'm here to talk about how you have the goal to come into my neighborhood and start acting like a criminal!” yoo joonghyuk said firmly, but no matter what, the white cat didn't seem to get the hint or maybe she did, but was just ignoring it.
“Dont ignore me! Just because you're a girl doesn't mean that i wont teach you a lesson!” yoo joonghyuk said, and that finally seemed to go through the cat as she stopped walking and stood still as a statue.
“... what did you just say?” the cat said in a low tone, not turning back to look at yoo joonghyuk which made the atmosphere tense a tiny bit.
“I said what I said, i won’t be repeating myself” Yoo joonghyuk said firmly. Not backing down just because the cat had a temper.
He could see the way her white fur bristled up, how her face scrunched up like she was thinking of something intently. It made him think if he actually said something offensive towards her, but he can't quite recall what he said, all he did was say she was causing trouble and the thing that set her off was the fact that he called her a girl, but wasn't she? Why would she get offended by him stating her gender? Unless…no, that couldn't be… “you’re…you can't be…”
“Excuse me?! I'm a boy! A male! How could you possibly mistake me for a girl?!” the white cat said as he stood closer to Yoo Joonghyuk, almost butting heads.
“Well, well i for a fact did not know your gender, and quite frankly, you look like a female and everyone's been calling you one” Yoo Jooonghyuk defended himself, for some reason, he felt like he just committed a crime by making the white cat mad. Which he didn't know why.
“Huh?! So I'm a girl! No way!” the white cat said as it looked like its world was just struck by a meteorite. How on earth did this ruggy cat think he was a girl! He looks nothing close to one!
Yoo Joonghyuk felt a bit awkward after this, not knowing what to say like someone just snatched the words right out of his mouth, something unpleasant and certainly something he wasn't used to.
“You should apologize to me!”
“What!? Why!”
“Because you mistook my gender and I'm offended, do you not have basic mannerisms?” The white cat scoffed at Yoo Joonghyuk. Scoffed! No one ever had the gall to scoff at him!
“You! Why are you scoffing at me! It was an honest mistake!” Yoo Joonghyuk said as he looked at the white cat in front of him.
“One you aren't apologizing for!” the white cat said with frustration in his voice.
“Fine! I apologize, you shouldn't have been inconsiderate of your… gender” Yoo Joonghyuk said with embarrassment..
The white cat looked mildly amused but frustrated, “whatever, not like i care”
Yoo Joonghyuk's fur bristled, how audacious!, “why are you making me apologize if you don't care!” Yoo Joonghyuk said, irritation creeping into his skin.
“Well it’s basic manners” the white cat said, Yoo Joonghyuk, if he had hands, would be ripping his fur right this second.
Yoo Joonghyuk hated this cat, or so he thought, after some days of thinking (two days in total) he made up his mind that he actually liked the cat. Sure he gets on his nerves sometimes (when he doesn't acknowledge joonghyuk) but who wouldn't like that cat? He was pretty, and joonghyuk liked him. So yoo joonghyuk made up his mind to try and court him into being his mate, and possibly make him carry his kits.
“Go away!” The short, black-haired human said when yoo joonghyuk camped outside the house, waiting for the white cat to leave, hissing at her before running off (into the backyard).
Han Sooyoung was getting tired of this street cat camping outside her house, seemingly waiting for Kim Dokja to leave and join him. It hasn’t even been a full month and Kim Dokja already garnered trouble, Seemingly since Kim Dokja didn’t leave when the black cat was camping outside.
“Dokja, why is the black cat outside” Han Sooyoung said as she looked at Dokja who was busy cleaning himself, knowing he would just ignore her, which he did just that.
Ignoring her like she was just some pesky mosquito.
Han Sooyoung grabbed Dokja, carrying him outside to the porch, ignoring his hissing and struggling, hes been in the house every day, its time he goes outside.
As soon as she opened the door, it was like someone actively went and told the black cat as it rushed towards the front, looking up at han soonyoung before hissing.
“What? Do you want dokja or not? You ask for him, then when you get him, you hiss!?” Han Sooyoung said, still carrying dokja who was now looking at the black cat.
When she put dokja down, the black cat stopped hissing. Going next to dokja before dokja sprinted away. The black cat looked at han Sooyoung once again, hissing and running towards dokja
What. The. Fuck.
This cat just didn't like Han Sooyoung. Han Sooyoung tried her best not to yell at the cat like a crazy person. Fuck, did dokja just get a boyfriend in not even a month of moving!? This bastard!
“So your name is Dokja? I really like it” joonghyuk said as he walked beside Dokja, who was ignoring him in favor of looking forward.
“Do you like birds? They're pretty tasty” Joonghyuk said as he continued looking at Dokja.
“Eew! You eat birds!?” Dokja stopped, looking at joonghyuk (joonghyuk told him his name yesterday).
“Yes, do you want to try? I'll get you one, wait for me” joonghyuk said as he sprinted away without Dokja's input. Something he shouldn't have done as Dokja took it as an opportunity to run away.
When dokja wasn't at the spot joonghyuk told him to wait at, he got worried. Dropping the bird from his mouth to sniff out dokjas scent. When he got it, he went back to carrying the bird and running towards the scent that went to the Cafe down the street. Finding Dokja sitting under a table to get shade from the sun.
“Dokja, why didn't you wait for me?” Joonghyuk said as he dropped the bird in front of Dokja who shrieked back.
“Oh gosh! Is that real!?” Dokja said as he stepped back, unwilling to be next to the dead bird that was rudely dropped in front of him.
“Yes, it tastes really good, you should try” joonghyuk said as he looked proud at his hunt, call it a courting gift if you wish.
“No! I won't eat that, what if it has a disease?” Dokja said as he looked at the bird once again before looking away. Gosh was it disgusting.
“It doesn't, it's unlikely” Joonghyuk said as he looked at the bird, was that why Dokja didn't want to eat it?
“You should eat real cat food, it tastes way better”
“But you haven't even tried it-”
“That’s not the point!”
In the end, Dokja didn't end up eating the bird, but didn't try running away from joonghyuk after that.
The two spent the rest of the day walking around the neighborhood. Joonghyuk turned a blind eye to Dokja’s antic's while Dokja just thought he was sneaky.

“is that… is that master?” The pony tail girl said as she saw a very familiar black and white cat walking together.
The white haired guy stood frozen in his place as he saw the very same scene the girl saw.
“Instead of master teaching the new cat a lesson, he…he got a girlfriend?” the white haired boy said, his mouth hung low.
“Even master couldn't help himself…”
