Cold punches thrown both ways. The prickling thorns of the cactuses. Blood dripping from both of their fingers as their bright smiles shined. Crack. Crack. Crack. Bones that were once healthy broke under the pressure of their two fists. Rib cages that filled with blood as it dripped from their grins. Drip. Drip. Drip. Red scattered across the sand that crunched beneath them. “Scar… I’m sorry… I’m so sorry” falling out of Grian’s mouth as punches were thrown. Sorries whispered to Grian as Scar weakly punched, wanting to look like he was putting up a fight. Not wanting Grian to sacrifice himself.
Then the final punch had been thrown. Blood rushing up Scar’s throat as he fell. Choking on his blood. A hand reached out to Grian as tears fell down both of their faces. Concerned eyes watching him, wanting to reach out. Yet too afraid of being pushed away as he watched his loved one die right in front of him. Scar’s bright smile began to fade as the life drained out of him. His skin flushing as his body tried to provide more blood. More oxygen. Cough. Cough. Cough. Red spilt over the ground. Gurgle. Gurgle. Gurgle. The last noises he had made before life had finally faded out of him.
Grian stared at the body of his beloved. Of his Scar. Tears rushing down his eyes as he pushed past the cactuses. Not wanting to stare at the corpse any longer. The prickles poking him. His bones crushed and skin bleeding. His eyes fell onto the area below. Oh how tempting to just fall down it. Voices yelling at him not to do it. The feeling of hands trying to reach on. One push of his legs is all it took. He tumbled down the sandy cliff. Crunch. Crunch. Crunch. His bones crunching as his body fell. Stopping eventually at the bottom.
He thought it would be a quick death. That he would be reunited with Scar within seconds. Yet here he was dragging his damaged body against the sand. Desperate to reach the reputation board. To reach the beautifully dead poppies and lilacs. Blood trailing behind him. A hand reaching out in a similar fashion to his beloved. Bones sticking out of his body, but he still longed for Scar. Quiet tears fell from his eyes as he wanted, no needed, Scar back. His Scar, his charismatic Scar. His silly Scar. The one who would brighten his life with his goofy smile. He never reached the flowers.
