Chapter Text
New Holland groaned as the sun's unwelcome rays met his face. The alarm hadn't gone off yet so New Holland was free to stay in bed-
"Fuck you!" New Holland at that point in time was just too tired to process who the fuck it was yelling. His dingo ears flattened as New Holland curled up more trying to ignore it an sleep; but New Holland was in a losing game due to having dingo ears.
"Let go- you- you brat!" Ah, so it was probably USA fighting with their mother, Great Britain. New Holland definitely wasn't going to get any more sleep no matter what he did.
"I'm just telling you to leave him alone, you bitch!" New Holland let the noise slip into the background as he crawled out of bed.
New Holland rubbed his eyes before checking the lampstand where his alarm usually was. The alarm clock was broken. New Holland completely forgot about that. It had been broken for a while, but New Holland just didn't have the guts to ask for a new one.
He went to the window sill and found what he was looking for. A snowflake. Antarctica would leave him one every morning to show divine favour to her friend. No matter how many mornings, it made him feel euphoric for a good moment.
New Holland looked onto the top of the bunkbed he and his brothers slept on, New Zealand and North Island. Well, "North" Island wasn't actually the north island of New Zealand, he was the South Island, but since their Mother hadn't bothered naming him, they had to guess and evidently guessed wrong, however it's not that easy to change a name so that was North's problem.
The New Zealanders were sleeping restfully on the top bunk. So like any good triplet, New Holland threw the alarm clock at New Zealand, a perfect headshot.
"Agh!?" New Zealand jumped at the violent awakening, which in turn startled and woke up North.
"That's for breaking my alarm clock!" New Holland did not waste his head start and quickly started running to the bathroom so he could lock New Zealand out until he calmed down.
"Wha..? What- bitch that was a week ago!" North yelled, New Holland heard New Zealand hop out of bed, definitely to throw hands, but New Holland was already out the room.
New Holland managed to run into the bathroom, yell taunts at New Zealand and lock the door before New Zealand started angrily banging on it. Eventually North came and dragged Z either for breakfast or something. Meanwhile New Holland took a shower. It was a beautiful morning so far.
When New Holland got out and changed he went downstairs to the kitchen to grab something for breakfast. While New Holland rounded the corner and ran directly into someone's chest.
"Eep-" New Holland almost fell backwards but was quickly caught by the wrist.
"Ah, sorry Hollo!" Canada quickly apologised as he pulled the smaller to his feet.
"It- it's okay."
"Um, breakfast is on the counter." Canada said as he went down the hall, presumably to shower.
UK and USA were already chowing down their breakfast. UK sat on the counter, while USA sat on a chair like a normal person would. UK was presumably looking through class notes for something while USA checked her homework for her. USA however looked like he was about to go face first into his waffles with how tired and annoyed he looked. New Holland happened to notice a black eye, probably from fighting with their mother, Great Britain, this morning.
New Holland silently grabbed a single waffle and a lot of syrup before slipping back out of the kitchen.
"And you wonder why I've already outgrown you." UK 'greeted' from where she was on the counter. UK was 12, a year younger than New Holland, but she had recently outgrown him, and New Holland at this point thinks she'd drop dead if she spent a day without rubbing it in.
"I'm not that hungry." New Holland said sitting on the floor to eat his waffle.
"My point still stands you know." UK gave New Holland a smug look that New Holland responded with a certain finger.
UK giggled, her golden loin's tail wagging and ears slightly pinning back as went back to revising her homework; happy as he was to see her enjoying herself, New Holland dubbed her an asshole and ate his waffle in peace.
It was a peaceful morning, well, except when New Zealand decked New Holland in the face at the bus stop, but other than that the siblings got to school okay. New Holland sat next to Canada on the bus because neither of their friends went on the bus and New Holland got sorta anxious when sitting with strangers. Well, actually, he gets really anxious and last time he puked, but that's totally irrelevant.
When they finally got to school New Holland bolted from the bus to where he usually would meet his friends before school. New Holland thinks he heard Canada call out for him or something, but New Holland didn't think it was important.
New Holland reached the tree his friends usually met at, but they weren't at school yet so he stood awkwardly in front of the tree. He felt like everyone was watching him, and he just hated that feeling.
As New Holland stood, he noticed a.... a.... he couldn't actually tell what it was. It just looked black and... slimy?
Curiosity piqued, he went towards it. The thing slipped into a storage room that had it's door slightly opened. New Holland followed and opened the door further to at least look in the room.
The room was... um... on it's shelves it had stuff like chainsaws, axes, guns and other weaponry. To which New Holland just quickly closed the door. He was curious, but he was not a cat.
New Holland sped-walked back to the tree where he saw the faces he was waiting for coming over. Aboriginal, Lutruwita and Torres Strait Islands walked over with their mum, Cooinda, she said her name was. Abby had told New Holland that it meant Happy place. Which New Holland thought was cool. She could also be addressed as First Nations.
The family approached and Abby spotted New Holland first.
"Hey! Hey, Hollo!" Abby ran up to New Holland and hugged him, koala ears slightly perked up and picking the(sadly) smaller up while doing so.
"U- uh... hi?" New Holland stammered as his ears pinned and tail lowered. Just because New Holland thought Cooinda was pretty, did not mean he new how to act around her.
"Hello, dear." She said getting Aboriginal to let go of New Holland, probably noticing that he was getting nauseous and that being squeezed was not helping him at all.
"Sorry." Abby apologised, rubbing his neck and flattening his ears as he let go, "What you up to?"
"Um... nothing- nothing much?" The bastard smirked at New Holland's suffering. Obviously he could tell how nervous Cooinda made New Holland feel and decided to play on it.
"You should tell my ngamayi about the snake we found the other day!" That son of a devil-
Abby pushed New Holland towards Cooinda. She just smiled, her light brown wings slightly relaxing. She evidently found his shyness slightly amusing.
"Be good, I'll be back to pick you up this evening." Although Cooinda, most certainly heard Aboriginal, she decided to spare New Holland and play dumb, which New Holland was more than happy to accept.
"You're a true nervous wreck." Lutruwita said from up in the branches of the tree above New Holland and Abby. Torres sat next to her, eating a quandong.
"Like you were any help." Holland pouted at the ghost.
"Touché." She said as the bell rang.
As they went to class New Holland looked back at the storage room, but quickly banished it from his mind. His 13 year old self had no business there, nor did he plan to.
