Work Text:
Wu Suowei is pregnant.
And as much as he was elated to learn about it, he is also terrified. It is a hysterical thought but what if the CEO of Ccuwei Corporation wouldn't want the child he is now (un)fortunately bearing?
Chi Cheng, a wealthy Alpha of a renowned company where Wu Suowei had been lucky enough to land the job as his personal secretary.
Wu Suowei is totally okay with the whole fubu thing going on between them, grateful even, that the famous businessman seems to particularly favor him but never did he specifically mention the status of their relationship. Nor they definitely didn’t plan or talk about anything about having a child and it is not like he considered him as his mate even more so.
For all Wu Suowei knew, he could have been just a hobby for the rich Alpha. That he knew it was never meant to be serious. After all, Chi Cheng was his boss.
Wu Suowei arrived at the office earlier than he ought to be, anxious and uneasy. Usually, such a discovery would make a person happy and Wu Suowei already pictured the joy of finding out that he’s with a child. He was still young when his mother died, and ever since then he grew up alone. He had always dreamed of having a big and complete family but…
Would Chi Cheng even want the baby? Would he even want him now if he found out about it? Will he blame him for not being careful enough with his suppressants? Will he fire him?
More conjuring thoughts flooded his mind and he couldn’t stop thinking about the worst terrifying scenario after another as he absentmindedly sat on his designated chair outside the CEO’s office.
The most sought bachelor Chi Cheng impregnating his secretary would be a story that every magazine and newspaper would fight over.
What if he asks him to get rid of the baby?
Chi Cheng can be mad at him, Suowei can understand. He can fire him and that’s acceptable. It’s even okay if he doesn’t want him anymore. Surely, the rejection would break him. But, Wu Suowei won’t let him take away the only thing that would have left of him. There is in no way he would let that happen.
“Goodmorning, Weiwei.” The Alpha greeted him rather enthusiastically, using the pet name he used to call him that made Wu Suowei’s heart skip a beat every damn time. Suowei stood up from his swivel chair a little too baffled by the Alpha’s unprecedented appearance and Chi Cheng can immediately tell that something is not right.
“G-Goodmorning, Sir.” Wu Suowei greeted back, ducking his head down while fumbling with his fingers.
“Chi Cheng.”
Suowei doesn't have much of a choice but to look at the man when he utters his own name. “S-Sir?”
“I’m sure I have made it clear to you multiple times that you can call me by my name or whatever it is you like when we’re alone, Weiwei.” Chi Cheng says authoritatively. The usual tone he uses every time he closes business deals.
Suowei ducks his head again and forces a smile, “I-I’m sorry, Sir–I mean, Chi Cheng.”
The Alpha took a big step towards him. Suowei winces and gasps when the Alpha is only mere centimeters away because Suowei immediately smells the familiar scent of wood, dark chocolate and a hint of cigarette smoke that sneaks out of his scent blockers. He suddenly felt weak in the knees and his heart almost jumped out of his rib cage.
“Do you have time after work?” The Alpha asks.
Wu Suowei blinks because it can only mean one thing which makes him a little more fragile and nervous. “I-I think I do. Y-Yeah, I have time. Your place or mine?”
Chi Cheng seems a bit taken aback by his question and he secondly shakes his head. “N-No, no.” His words are a little breathy, shaky even. His hand sneakily fumbles at the pocket of his suit jacket. “I-I just want us to have dinner… together.”
If it’s another day Suowei would be genuinely happy by the overwhelming invitation but his mind goes back to the more serious matter at hand. “S-Sure. Sure.”
Chi Cheng’s eyebrows are knitted together. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?” The CEO asks, his voice soft and warm and his eyes visibly showing concern and worry. He lifts a hand to graze Suowei’s cheek then feels his forehead with the back of it. “Weiwei, you seem warmer than usual. Are you not feeling well? Come here and I’ll give you medicine.” The Alpha consecutively asks as he grabs him by his hand and gently dragged him inside his office.
Wu Suowei was instantly alarmed by the CEO’s offer and he pulled his hand away just as the Alpha sat down on his swivel chair and rummaged through his drawers in search of medication.
“No. I-I don't think I can.” Suowei mumbles.
The CEO looked up at him. “Why? You should take it before it gets worse.”
The Omega has never been good at keeping secrets. He has to tell the man sooner or later because as time passes and the baby grows, he will inevitably start to notice. He has to gain his courage to tell him now no matter how scary his reaction would be.
He will plead with him–he will understand if he doesn’t want to own and acknowledge the baby and he doesn’t even need to worry, he won’t ask for any child support–just please let him keep it…but all those words suddenly get stuck in his throat, and Suowei only manages to say is a quiet, “I-I’m with a child, Mr. Chi.”
Silence reigns in Chi Cheng’s office.
The Omega looked down as his eyes started to water. He can already imagine the shock, and perhaps anger in the Alpha’s face. After all, it is his fault for failing to take his pills but he just wishes that if the CEO would send him away, he would at least let him keep the baby because he couldn’t stand being alone.
It felt like hours before the Alpha finally spoke. “Is it true? You're…?”
Suowei nodded. A warm tear slipped from the cradle of his eyelid and started trailing down his cheek.
“Oh my god!” Chi Cheng exclaimed. In an instant he stood up from his desk and was already by his side. “Oh my god. Is it really true? Baby, please look at me!”
And finally Wu Suowei lifted his gaze. But what he saw in the Alpha’s face wasn’t anger as he expected and feared, but rather the CEO was smiling. Widely. The first time Suowei saw him this happy. He was gripping the Omega’s arms as if he could not believe they were real.
“Baby, that's wonderful!”
Wu Suowei was caught off guard, “Y-You’re… You’re not going to fire me?”
The smile on Chi Cheng’s face disappeared, replaced by a frown. Then his expression grew solemn.
“You’re right. You can’t be my secretary anymore.”
Suowei’s heart sank. His gaze fell into the floor once again.
“Oh… Yes, of course, I understand…”
But the Alpha interrupted him. “Because I am now promoting you into the highest position I could offer. To be my lifetime partner.”
That was all it took for the small tears to turn into a deluge. “W-What?”
“M-Marry me, Weiwei.” The Alpha suddenly says, fishing out a small dark blue velvet box inside his suit jacket. As he opened it, there was a shimmering silver band sitting inside. “Wu Suowei,” Chi Cheng breathed. “I know for a fact that maybe you are thinking that I am asking you this because of what you just have told me, that you are bearing my seed inside of you but you are absolutely wrong. Consider that I only found more reasons to do this…”
Chi Cheng huffed a shaky breath, bent down on one knee and looked up before continuing, “Y-You literally mean the world to me. I-I have been loving you ever since I first laid my eyes on you and I love you beyond belief because you make me happy every day. I’m sorry baby if it took me this long to say this to you and I apologize for making you feel that you deserve any less when you only deserve the best and everything. You are the sweetest, most adorable, caring and hilarious person I have ever met.” Chi Cheng paused and cleared his throat. “As you know I am not really good with words but I would do anything just to be with you. S-So baby, my Weiwei, are you willing to spend your lifetime with me?”
Wu Suowei is now a crying mess upon hearing the long confession of the man which he undeniably fell in love with as well. That was the longest sentence he had ever said ever since he started working for him more than a year ago. “O-Oh my god, what?” The Omega asks again because his brain is playing catch up and he couldn’t register nor believe half of what he had just said.
The Alpha licks his lips. For the first time, Suowei can see the nervous tension behind the CEO’s eyes. “Marry me, baby. Marry me and make me the happiest bastard in the universe. Marry me. Hmn?”
And before Wu Suowei could even think twice he nodded his head frantically, tears still flowing freely from his eyes. “O-Okay.”
The Alpha took the ring out of the box and slid it on the omega’s ring finger and it fit perfectly like it was made exclusively for him. And Suowei knew that it was.
Chi Cheng stood up and wiped away his tears then he leaned in to press their lips together. Wu Suowei sighs when their lips finally touch, expelling all the tension from his body. It’s a kiss full of possibilities, of desire, of belonging. It was soft and slow and perfect. So perfect. It’s a kind of kiss that promises to stretch in the future. Their future.
When they finally break apart, like he can’t stop himself, Chi Cheng leans down to give Suowei another peck on the lips, then another one, and it only goes uphill from there, until the laughter bubbles up in Suowei’s gut.
“Thank you for agreeing to be my mate. I promise I’ll make you and our little Chengcheng happy.” The Alpha says.
He doesn’t even bother to hide his giddiness as he circles his arms around his Omega’s waist, pulling him closer. Suowei shivers under his touch.
“You should.” Suowei warns, chuckling. But his voice grows soft. His hands settle at the back of his Alpha’s neck. He is perfectly wrapped around Chi Cheng’s embrace—the one place where the soon-to-be-mother felt the safest in the world.
But the Alpha couldn’t help but let his hand wander on Suowei’s belly. It wasn’t as visibly rounded as it was going to be but the CEO couldn’t help but think that it was his seed taking root. His little baby is growing inside his precious Omega’s belly. He buried his face into Wu Suowei’s hair, planting soft kisses.
‘I have a home now.’
