Work Text:

The wind howled through the narrow alleyways of the slum-town, carrying a biting cold that seeped into bones and hearts.

You pulled your thin jacket tighter, shivering as the night deepened and stray snowflakes began to fall. The bare streetlamps flickered in the darkness, and everything felt brittle, fragile.

Then you spotted Stone leaning against the crumbling brick wall, lanky silhouette outlined against the faint glow. His dark fluffy hair was tousled, and his pale face looked even colder than usual. His green-yellow eyes flicked toward you as you approached, and he offered you a small, wry smile.

“Didn’t expect you around here,” he said quietly.

You shrugged, pulling your scarf up around your neck. “Needed some air.”

Stone nodded, glancing at the sky. “Cold’s getting worse.”

You looked at him, noticing the way his shoulders hunched slightly, as if trying to contain the chill. You felt a surge of warmth. Not from the air, but from caring.

Without thinking too much, you stepped closer and held out your hand. “Come on. Let’s go somewhere warmer, or at least try to stay warm together.”

He shrugged again, the faintest hint of reluctance. “Alright.”

You led him a little way, to a spot behind some crates where the wind was blocked just enough. You sat down, motioning for him to join you. Stone hesitated, then sank down beside you, his jacket brushing yours.

For a long moment, the world was just the two of you and the hush of falling snow.

Your breath fogged in the air. You wrapped your arm around his thin frame, pulling him into you. His head tilted toward yours, though he stayed quiet. The warmth of your body seeped into him, and for once, the guarded look in his eyes softened.

He let out a small breath, like the tension in his chest unlocked a little. “Thanks,” he said, voice low.

You leaned your head on his shoulder. “Anytime.”

The snow continued to fall, gentle and steady, blanketing the world in white. You felt Stone’s arm go around you loosely—tentative, but real. And you didn’t pull away. You stayed like that for a while.

Silent, comfortable, connected. The cold was still there, but softened. With Stone by your side, the night didn’t feel threatening. It felt… shared.

Vulnerable, maybe, but in a good way.

Eventually, Stone shifted and tucked his legs up, curling slightly into your side. You responded by draping your legs over his, and he huffed out a small chuckle. “You’re taking over all the space,” he teased.

“Someone’s gotta warm you up,” you replied softly.

He pressed a gentle kiss to the top of your head. It was quiet. It was simple. It was enough.

As the snow piled quietly around you, you realized that here, in this bleak little corner of the world, you were safe. With Stone.

And that made all the difference.
