The wind.
It was strong today, as if something… life-changing was going to happen. Now, what could that mean? ‘ Something horrible,’ you thought. You never liked the cold, you very much preferred the warm sunshine, a sip of hot cocoa and the heat in your belly you get from it. You also loved seeing the cheery smile of children, which made you feel happy. And that’s the reason why you volunteered at the daycare.
But right now? No child in sight was smiling. They all were playing happily, until someone… or some thing came in the park. Some ran towards you, shivering. All they could manage to say from their mouths was “Scary m-man,” with tears in their eyes. You haven’t seen this ‘scary man’ yet, but as the other volunteers were already busy trying to cheer up the kids, you figured you were supposed to do talk to the man every kid at the park was scared of.
Walking to where all the kids have pointed to, the cold breeze makes you shiver. To be clear, you weren’t scared, just confused. ‘ Why would there be a monster in the park anyway? A stupid prank?’ Well, you didn’t stop to think, as you were quick to jump to conclusions anyway, ‘but only sometimes, ’ you’d lie to yourself often.
And there. There he is, the man in violet, sitting down on a park bench, covering his face with a surgical mask. You smiled and thought, ‘ So this is the guy every little one’s been crying about, huh. ’ But the closer you got to him, the colder the air became. ‘ Ah, so that’s the problem. Dark aura, scary looks. That’s it, ’ you thought. Breathing out a sigh, you spoke up. “Excuse me sir, I’m sorry, but the kids at the daycare closeby have been scared by your presence. I think, you should leave?” Looking at him and observing him closely, you noticed he was holding a cat, a small one in white. Would a scary man be holding such a cute cat?
“O-oh,” he looked up slightly, removing his surgical mask, and so uncovering his mouth. And - you couldn’t help but notice - he stuttered? How, anti-climatic . But even so, he looked back down and gave a cold look.
“I didn’t mean to. Sorry,” he muttered, again, him turning from really surprised to really cold? Odd.
And hm, you realized how awkward the situation is. Or, really, you had nothing to say. So, some small talk, maybe?
You looked back towards him, hoping to strike conversation (and maybe to apologize to him for telling him to leave?) but he averted your gaze at the last second. May- wait. Was he… blushing…? ‘ Oh, I see, ’ you thought. You couldn’t even feel the cold air anymore, what you were seeing just made you laugh. Well - chuckle - really.
“Why,” he paused. “are you laughing?” You heard him speak in a slightly-angered tone. The way he spoke gave off a ‘please-shut-up’ vibe, which, of course, made you shut up. It stayed like this for a while until the man stood up. “I’m leaving,” he declared as he walked to the exit.
“Wait,” You… demanded, holding out your arm (to shake hands, I guess.) He turned to you as you open your mouth to speak again. That cat he carried was already asleep. “I’m (Y/N).” He scoffed, and sighed.
“Ichimatsu,” And he left, leaving you alone with your arm out at nothing. Well- that was weird. And even more, the cold air and dark aura was gone.
“(Y/N)! Come over here, we need some help!” Another volunteer at the other side of the park called out to you. (It wasn’t really big, but it’s kind-of big, mind you.)
“Oh,” you turned, “coming.”
You sighed, now longing for the dark and cold aura to come back. Or, actually, the man carrying that aura.
