Work Text:

Player took a shaky breath as they looked at themselves in the bathroom mirror, other people would see a "Hero" or "A Brave Person", but what Player saw? They saw a murderer, a heartless and ruthless person, a person who has caused trouble many times, if it weren't for them, everything would be fine, but nope, they just had to swoop right in and ruin everything, Calypso was doing well with Captain Trotter, but Player made her push Captain Trotter to his death, and for Griefer, sure, Player did cure him, but for some reason, Player doesn't believe in themselves. Not after what they had did to everyone they met.

Ever since Player touched the Ghostwalker, Player has been more expressionless considering they had to defeat all their negative emotions, deep down, Player hates what they are doing, they hate Shedletsky for setting them into God-awful missions and all for what? All for some stupid Swords and a missing person.

Player shudders and leaned against the wall before sliding down to the floor, bringing their knees to their chest before quietly sobbing.

What a disappointment.

You're just here, crying.

It's all your fault.

You killed them.

You're gullible.

After whatever felt like eternity, Player's sobbing died down into soft sniffles. Player tried to steady their breathing, sighing and getting up to their feet, turning the light off and leaving the bathroom, they sat down to the side of the bed, still trying to steady their breathing, they clutch their chest, why are they like this? Why can't they open up to people? It's painful, they keep asking themselves that, Player didn't even realize that the Ice Dagger was in their hand until the cold tip of the blade was pressed onto their wrist, but without hesitation, Player slid the dagger to the side, a clean cut, fresh blood spills out of their wrist, but Player didn't wince, not a flinch, they just continued to their other hand, before dropping the dagger to the ground, clattering could be heard, fresh blood spills to the ground. They didn't even think of cleaning it up, they didn't think of treating their new wound which they had made, instead, Player turned off the light and laid down on their bed.

How vulnerable you are.

So pathetic.

Player woke up from the golden light of the sun coming from their curtains, they groaned softly and sat up in their bed, they then looked at their wrist, dry blood. That's what they saw.

Just by looking at it, they start remembering all the times they were being a ruthless, heartless, so-called 'Hero'. Player flinched, bringing their knees to their chest, bringing their hands to their ears, sobbing quietly, trying to block out the background noise, their hands still to their ears, pressing them.

Player's head then turned to their sword on the wall, they reached out to grab it, pointing the blade to their chest, breathing heavily and face still wet with tears.

Their hand was shaky, they wanted to stop the madness, stop everything, stop living.

That was until a knock on the door was heard, the Sword clattered to the floor.

Player steadied their breathing before getting up and hesitantly opened the door.

Oh.

It's you.

- " K- Kyoko...? " The poor, gullible hero said, voice shaky.

- " Player! There you are! I haven't seen you in like, days! Are you okay...? " The concerned adventurer said, her gaze falls onto the cuts on Player's wrist, her eyes widening slightly.

- " I'm fi- " They get cut off.

" Player, don't say 'I'm fine', because I'm pretty sure you're not... You know you can talk to me... Right...? I see those cuts... " She said, concern etched on her face.

- " . . . "

Silence, they didn't know what to say, they can feel their eyes well up with tears, but they held back.

- " Hey... Is there something you're not telling me...? You've been more... Expressionless than ever... "

Shit.

She noticed.

- " I- uh... Kyoko... Can I talk to you about something...? "

Kyoko freezes, she knew this was going to be bad, but yet, she nodded. Player gestured her to come in.

Kyoko went inside their hotel room, sitting down on the side of the bed and patted the space beside her, gesturing Player to sit down beside her.

- " So... What were you gonna talk about...? " She looked at Player, who was walking to sit down beside her.

- " Uh... It's just that... I had to kill my own negative emotions, my Hatred manipulated me just for me to purify my soul, ever since, I started to realize how... heartless I am, the King is gone, Mayor Thaniyel was devastated about his son, Captain Trotter is gone, all because of me, it was my doings, I caused all of those, if it weren't for me, none of those would have happened, it's all my fault. " they opened up to Kyoko, admitting how they felt like trash.

Kyoko sighed and wrapped her arms around Player, keeping them close, she let their head rest on her shoulder, she rubbed their back in soothing circles, an attempt to comfort Player.

Player could feel streaks of tears running down their cheek, they hugged her back, for some reason, Kyoko's presence makes them feel... Relaxed.

- " Player, it's okay, it's not your fault, I'm here for you, okay? Even in the toughest times, sometimes, people can feel like they're ruthless or heartless like what you said, but it's not them who's the problem, so, if you ever feel like you're horrible, just forgive yourself, over and over again. I'm here for you. "

Player let out a shaky breath, the silence was comforting, they wished they were like this forever.

Finally, Player felt... Relaxed...
