The sand felt fresh on the sole of your feet. You couldn't stop yourself from putting them under it, so they wouldn't feel like burning anymore.
By your side, Zayne laughed softly.
You looked up at him and you smiled seeing how happy he was.
"What?"
"I forgot how much you love to come to the beach" his mirth plagued his voice.
What he didn’t mention, maybe because you had never told him, was that you enjoyed it not only for the season itself. Seeing your boyfriend in summery shirts, hair dripping water after getting out of the ocean...
"Is the hot weather getting to you?"
His question got you out of the memories that came up to the front of your mind.
"I guess so..."
Blushing even more, you left your sandals on the shore before stepping on the water. Your dress danced around with the summer breeze. The temperature wasn’t that high in the early morning, so you were grateful of Zayne’s suggestion to come at this hour.
When your legs where half way deep in the water, you turned around, seeing him looking at you from the same spot you left him in.
"Come here!" You shouted, making grabby hands.
It was funny, seeing him trying to suppress his emotions. You felt so giddy because Zayne had been slowly getting comfortable with you. He could put on a facade of coldness, but his smile was still there, curling up his lips.
"I'm coming" he mouthed, taking off his lounge shoes.
Your eyes followed his every movement, slow steps dragging the moment you could meet in the middle of the ocean.
"My boyfriend is finally here"
Your hands intertwined between you. The reflection of the sunlight drew beautiful patterns over his skin. Zayne was always mesmerizing, but summer took his beauty into a whole new level.
"I am"
Finally reaching your waist, he made you jump so your legs crossed behind his back and over his hips.
The water slouched around you both, leaving your clothes drenched. It was refreshing, his smile so bright it really rivaled the sun. Eyes lightening up, Zayne kissed you softly.
"I love you"
Embracing him with your whole body, you felt him dancing along to an imaginary song. His laugh was loud in your ears, the most beautiful sound you had ever heard in your entire life.
"I love you too"
With happy tears, you continued enjoying the early morning sun, kissing and sharing funny stories about past vacations you had have with him by your side.
Hopefully, there would be even more in the future.
