The Difference Between Thoughts and Ideals, Yours and Mine

Summary:

The Eden of Blessed Insight was a domain fitting for the Aeon of Remembrance. The land devoid of shape and color spare for two things; the memories, scattered throughout and shining like mirrors – and Fuli Themselves, proud emperor and guide to all Their followers, standing alone.

That is, until recently.

Nothing was same in the Eden after the Enigmata appeared, nor was Fuli, truthfully.

Fuli is tasked with creating a child that can become an Aeon THEMselves. Indifferent at first, They end up wanting to keep Mythus in the Eden forever.

Notes:

Uhh so. Yeah. I wrote this before we even got 3.7 pre-load so in terms of current lore... This aged badly? I don't even really get current Fuli lore nor status. What the hell, Hoyo. Anyways... This was based on HCs that I had prior to current ver regarding Fuli and Mythus, and, as you can already see from the tags, them having parent-child relationship.
I didn't know if I wanted to post this because the fact how quickly this fic aged (in span of like, few days), but thanks to my friends' support I decided I am going to post it :")
Yeah. My lesson learnt: Don't write about characters that will have significance right before next version drops because their lore will change drastically.
Hope u enjoy!

Work Text:

The Eden of Blessed Insight was a domain fitting for the Aeon of Remembrance. The land devoid of shape and color spare for two things; the memories, scattered throughout and shining like mirrors – and Fuli Themselves, proud emperor and guide to all Their followers, standing alone.

That is, until recently.

Nothing was same in the Eden after the Enigmata appeared, nor was Fuli, truthfully.

They still clearly recall the day HooH had called Them for a meeting regarding the Erudition.

The doors pushed open, HooH and – surprisingly, at least for Weatherglass – Terminus already sitting in their respective seats. Fuli bowed and then took Their seat, only sending a glare towards the Finality before HoOh's deep voice boomed across the chamber, “I do understand that you both might not be on the best conditions currently. However, Equilibrium must be upheld, so after discussing some matters with Terminus, we have come to make a request of you.”

And so, Fuli was tasked with creating a child– but not one like the Pure Children. A child of Remembrance who had to be an Aeon Themselves, one to oppose the Erudition on Their objective to gain ultimate knowledge on everything.

Thus, Mythus was born.

For the first time, the Eden of Blessed Insignt seemed more lively, splashes of colors and lights appearing where They went. It was a drastic change, but one that Fuli allowed – after all, it was Them who requested Mythus to do it, to test Their child’s possibilities and see what They could do. No one dared to criticize the Weatherglass.

They gave Mythus a separate corner, one with memories that were no longer needed, that in the end didn’t turn out to be useful. Mythus could do whatever They wanted; change minor details, major ones, add facts that were not there before – Fuli knew all the changes instantly.

But truth be told, the change was unbearable – ‘more lively’ soon changed into ‘chaotic’. Mythus was everywhere at once, and if not personally, then a mini jellyfish surrounded by staircase would follow Fuli when They least expected it; but Mythus either didn’t know or didn’t care that Fuli long realized that Their child did that. Weird game they played, but as long as it meant Fuli could kept Mythus in one place, it was… okay. They are just testing the grounds, Terminus told Fuli unprompted, give Them time.

Terminus was right, it took some time, but Mythus calmed down; or at least didn’t try to spread chaos across whole Eden. They still were much different from Their father, down to the colors – while Fuli resembled the Light Cones, matching memories they captured, Mythus was exactly the opposite of that. Yet. they were still connected. As Mythus calmed down, Fuli began to notice how… Endearing They were, in some sort of way; Their cold, frozen “heart” moved by the curiosity and eagerness of Mythus. Their child.

The problem? Fuli didn't want to let Mythus go. They would be better staying by Their father’s side until needed. At least that’s how Fuli argued. They knew HooH would urge Them to let Mythus go soon, to serve Their purpose as the Aeon of Enigmata. But Fuli got attached, probably a bit too much to Their liking.

And Mythus started to grow bored.

They… understood how boring the Eden must’ve been to them after a while, but They also pushed away the idea of Mythus being able to do all They wanted. And interacting with other Aeons, even if the Enigmata’s path was linear from the start. Maybe if they asked HooH, They could surely find a better solution and maybe even a place for Mythus in the–

“Father!”

Fuli was donning way more human appearance at the moment, intending to meet with the Garden of Recollection – They didn’t have to change their vessel, the Memokeepers were very well used to Their most common one. And yet, that day, Fuli felt the urge to don a different one. The Weatherglass inspected Their reflection in the mirror, fixing any folds in their mangfu and adjusting the jewelry.

“Fatherrr!!!”

Something– or rather someone– tugged at Their sleeve. When Fuli looked down, Their gaze was met with Mythus’, the appearance of Their child not too different from Theirs, trying to mimic Fuli’s human vessel. Mythus pouted, shifting their weight from one leg to the other.

“Bàba, I want to go outtt! It’s boring here and I can only do as much! You can leave, why can’t I?” They complained, still tugging at Fuli’s sleeve. As much as Fuli didn’t want to admit, Mythus was right – but admitting that was out of the question, it would mean that Fuli had to admit that They still kept Mythus by Their side for selfish reasons.

With an indifferent expression, Fuli sighed, debating on whatever they should do in this situation. They never were the one for affection or empathy, that was not Their purpose. First thought, just tell Mythus it’s for Their own good and They’ll meet the other Aeons soon, without giving a detailed answer. Second…

“Very well then, if you want it as much, you will accompany me to meeting with the Garden of Recolletion. You’ve already met some members,” They finally said, Mythus’ face brightening up at the thought of interacting with people – maybe even using their own abilities, if Fuli had to guess, “But first, we need to adjust your clothes.”

They were not… Bad, per se. But definitely were too big on Mythus and They needed something personal, something finer – if Fuli was to let Mythus free, meet other Aeons, everyone else needed to see that the Weatherglass was keeping care of the Enigmata.

So Fuli took Mythus by arm, a bit forcefully, and crouched next to Their child. They began to fix the clothes, Their movements precise, as gentle as when Fuli was inspecting memories.

“Mythus, don't move,” Fuli reprimanded Mythus as They kept fidgeting, always finding something to do while Their father worked on adjusting the hanfu. Finally, Fuli decided it was enough and straightened up, announcing, “We are ready to go.”

Every conversation or movement in the Garden came to a halt when Fuli finally arrived. They were late, they knew – but the reason was important, after all Mythus had to be presentable if They wanted to accompany Their father. Mythus, who was now hiding behind Fuli, Their hands gripping at the mangfu. Did Their courage leave Them? Fuli shot Them a glance and then turned to two Memokeepers who hurriedly appeared in front of the Weatherglass, bowing.

“L-Luminflux, we thought…,” one of them mumbled.

Fuli waved, dismissing it, “no matter. There was an… Urgent matter that had came up last minute. Can we proceed now?”

The urgent matter in question was still behind Them, fidgeting with the ornaments of the belt. Their head slowly peeked from behind Fuli’s back, Their gaze curiously scanning everything around.

One of Memokeepers blinked, once, twice, surprised to see Mythus there– after all, Fuli did not notify them that the Enigmata will be coming too, “Of course… and uh..”

Fuli’s hand first laid on Mythus’ shoulder and then slowly pushed Them upfront, not allowing Them to hide anymore. The Luminflux shot a glance between Their child and the Memokeeper, “Mythus? They decided They’ll be accompanying me today. I do not think it’s a problem for you, as long as They stay close to me.”

“Of course not, Luminflux! If there’s a need, one of us can watch over the young Aeon,” the other Memokeeper bowed, still a bit stiff.

They all moved to the other part of the Garden, with Fuli keeping Mythus an arm length away at most. They seemed more bold once again, not hiding behind Their father all the time; They wanted to explore. Fuli made a dissatisfied face.

Fuli carefully gazed over the memories, their hand resting mid-air; at least that’s what it would’ve been to anyone else than Remembrance and those blessed by THEM. They could feel them, see them, hear them.

Mythus tried to gaze over their shoulder, interested in what exactly Their father was doing. After all, Fuli stayed mostly… idle in the Eden, meditating. So when Mythus got too close, almost touching the memories, They were dragged away by a Memokeeper– not one of the two who had greeted them earlier. Fuli didn’t pay too much attention; They were focused on Their task, yet they could hear her shushed, calm voice, talking to Mythus, trying to drag away Their attention from what Fuli was doing. She seemed to almost entertain Them, like one would entertain a human child.

Finally, with a long exhale, Fuli have decided– these memories were what They needed. The Memokeepers bowed as They announced both Mythus and Them will take their leave, then, to not disturb the Garden’s work and to preserve the memories correctly.

Mythus seemed.. happier, more lively (if They could get more lively) as They were left all alone, once again. Fuli wondered what was the case– did they get happier as They were left one on one with Fuli? Would this mean that Their meeting with other Aeons should be postponed? If Mythus was unstable, HooH should be the first to know.

“Bàba, look at what one of the Memokeepers handed me,” Mythus spoke finally, still observing Their father.

Mythus pulled out what looked like–

A tarot card?

Yes, there was one Memokeeper that always surrounded herself with these. So it was her.

They handed Fuli the card, observing Their father’s face attentively.

Magician, Fuli noticed, and turned to face Mythus. They shouldn’t be the one to believe such superstitions, and yet…

“Mythus, do you want to leave the Eden soon?”

The moment Fuli saw Terminus, They realized even more that talking to Them one on one was a bad idea – but since Terminus knew the outcome already, it wouldn't have been so bad, surely, for they both… walked different paths now.

While Fuli was the one to invite Terminus for a talk, the place – and time – was of Finality’s choosing. So now Fuli found Themselves making a way to the alienated corner in a rowdy, yet classy bar. No one seemed to notice the presence of two Aeons, who blended perfectly with mortals – there was no need to alarm them.

“Pray tell, Fuli’er, how’s been Mythus stay at the Eden?” The Finality swirled the wine in Their glass, not meeting Fuli’s eyes. Fuli did not make a comment about the way Terminus spoke to Them.

“You know very well, don’t you? Finality, I do not wish to make thi–”

“May I remind you, Remembrance, that you were the one to invite me? Getting rid of your guest is not polite. What else did you want to talk about? Weather in Adlivun? But other than that– I know the facts. And I am asking you for your… feelings,” Fuli made a face, “It was more of a task than anything to… create Mythus.”

Fuli debated if They wanted to tell Terminus the truth. It has been some time since they were close.

“Unless you want me to say that you gave birth to Them. Technically, correct. But too… humane and feminine?” They wished that Terminus really did not say that. For someone who was as strict as Fuli, Their humor unsurprisingly even worse. If it could even be called that.

Fuli found themselves at a loss of words, not able to correctly describe it all, “I did not think I would get as attached to Mythus as I did. It’s… almost a shame They cannot stay by my side.”

Terminus raised an eyebrow, but said nothing. Instead They poured a glass for Fuli.

“The Destrution is inevitable, and we both know that very well. All I can do until the end of time is meditate and preserve what’s the most useful. And Mythus… It was definitely a change.”

“You needed company,” Terminus murmured, putting a hand against Their cheek, Their distant gaze clear and fixed on Fuli, “Shall They stayed there, They wouldn’t serve what They were created for.”

Fuli didn’t say anything, instead bringing the wine glass to Their mouth and tasting it. It was… sour. Fuli felt like– knew– that this has happened already. Terminus and Them, sharing a wine like this, sitting together, yet more sweet at the time.

“They won't stay away from you, Fuli. Your paths will cross a lot.”

The Enigmata challenges the certainty, and how much of a role memories and past hold in it? If people stop seeking the ultimate knowledge, how many memories can be corrupted before nothing is real anymore?

“I know.”
