Work Text:

For the kids, it was all pretend~

Well, maybe for some.

But for the two Animutant/Animatronics who were playing the part, it was going to be the biggest moment of their lives.

A wedding!

And this time, a ‘real’ one, not the one Moony told the kids about before he and Sunrise became boyfriends!

Real and truly, as only Animutants could be, married!

In the eyes of their precious kiddos~

-

At one end of the theater, Moondrop was being dressed by a bunch of kids. He let them choose his outfit, let them choose if he needed a tie or bowtie!

It was the moment that Mattered to him, not how one looked, whether that be dressed up or down~

As long as his Sunrise had that cute smile on his face that wrinkled his nose just right, the smile that brought them together that day well, that's all that Moondrop cared about~

“He needs a different hat-”

“No, let him have that one, he's already dwessed up!”

“Ya, let him have his night hat~”

The kids moved around him like happy little ants and Moondrop allowed this. Allowed the kids to bicker amongst themselves with an adoring smile upon his face as he gazed upon them as they went.

One girl was making a pretend flower for his ‘suit’ out of paper mache whilst a little boy ran around as the designated ‘losing it’ person.

“We need cake!” He cried out and ran one way.

“We need rings!” He bellowed, running the other way.

Moondrop snorted despite himself and wondered if his Sunny was having this much fun with his ‘dress up’.

-

On the other side of the Superstar Theater however-

“You… You really think I'm ready?” Sunrise Whispered to a little one who sat beside him as two other kids worked a paper flower crown upon his head, careful of his rays.

“Aww, Mr. Moon loves you!”

“Ya! Very much~”

“More than my parents love each other anyway!”

Sunrise would normally console the child whose parents seemed to be having issues but for the first time ever, he wasn't sure what really to do for HIMSELF!

The kids worked on an outfit befitting The ‘bride’ and chose how to bring him out to the Daycare when the time came.

The kids helped HIM, consoled HIM, it was backwards and upside down for Sunrise!

All Sunrise had done was stare far away, unsure if this was really happening to him!

Was it all just a wonderful dream? Was he still back at the old location, unaware of Moon even being alive!? If Moon even remembered him!?

A tiny tap tap to his cheeks woke him up and the little child sitting with him piped up softly, looking him in the eyes, “Mr. Sun! That's your boyfwiend waiting for you! He luvs you! He wouldn't have lied befor if he didn't!”

Sunrise Blinked away some tears and he began to smile, making the broken tooth within his mouth noticeable.

“Thanks everyone~”

“Let's get you finished, I bet the others are waiting~” The little one who had brought Sunny back announced and with a jovial cheer from the other kids, they surrounded the sunny themed Animutant and indeed, began the finishing touches.

-

“My Daddy is a Pwiest, I'll say da words~” A young boy said proudly as he and another child pushed over soft Blocks to make into a podium.

Moondrop Stood there now suddenly unsure of things.

All he'd done flashed back to him.

Dealing with humans and Animutant flesh, his work as a ‘night guard’, El Chip!

“Focus!! Stay wit me!” A little girl spoke and clapped her hands towards Moon's face.

He shook his head slightly and found two rows of neatly standing kiddos, Watching him, waiting.

They formed a walkway.

Someone was peeking out from behind the big Daycare doors as if waiting for an answer.

“Are you back!?” A boy asked close by and Moon nodded, gulped, then called out with a small stammer, “Ready!”

Then with the kids from his side of the theater, watched as Sunrises group filed in, followed by-

-

“He looks sooo pretty!!!”

“Aww he's crying~”

“Rings!!! Where are the rin-”

“Bobby, in your hand!”

“Oh, ya!”

As the group that had been with Moondrop got settled after that little hiccup, the group following Sunrise giggled And walked proudly with Sunrise as the lead.

Paper confetti was thrown from both rows of kids forming the walkway towards Moondrop and gleeful cheers were called as the sun themed animatronic walked slowly past, “Here comes the bride!”

Before Sunrise could make it to Moondrop, two kids hurried and drew/took pictures of this moment then allowed the event to continue, stepping out of the way once they were finished drawing the scene.

Upon reaching the ‘altar’ where Moondrop and the ‘Priest’ were, Sunrise finally looked up and stared straight at his Moony and whispered a shaky, “Hi… Moony~”

-

Moondrop couldn't help the goofy happy love drunk smile that spilled all over his face, pulling the fangs along as his lips rose.

Just the sight of his Sunny walking towards him dressed in such a way, fake flowers adorning his rays and held in his hands~

But what brought it all together for him was when Sunrise stepped before him and finally looked up at him and smiled.

That smile that wrinkled his nose, the smile that made his heart sore, the smile that brought them together their first meeting at the Lab~

“You look so beautiful, Sunflower~” Moondrop whispered and took Sunrise's hands within his.

Lost for words, both just looked at each other. Lost in the moment neither thought would ever come!

Only in fairytales, only for humans, now happening to them~

“Are we all gavered!?” The ‘Priest’ asked and all the kids sat criss cross applesauce, attentive, listening quietly.

Just like during storytime with either of their beloved Animutants~

“We are gavered here today to marry dese two-” He stopped and blinked.

His parents said they weren't humans, the girls said Sun was a flower, and well Moon was the moon!

“To marry dese two best fwiends!” He came to a conclusion he liked and it seemed everyone did too!

Small claps were heard and Sunrise and Moondrop smiled warmly at him, still holding hands between them.

“Umm.. Gavered here today.. Marry dese two..” He puzzled through the long list of things his Daddy said during weddings, tapping his chin much as he did, leaving Sunny giggling sweetly from where he stood.

“No one has a say if dey marry!” The boy stated and Moon whispered helpfully, “If anyone has anything to say against this marriage, speak now or Forever hold your peace~”

“Hold your peas!” The Boy cried out, not giving anyone a chance to say anything.

“Sooo cute~” Sunrise whispered to Moondrop and the other gave a raspy chuckle in return.

“We are here to marry dese two and dat is what we are ganna do, so pwease, da rings!?” The ‘Priest’ called and the boy, Bobby, hurried over with the rings in hand.

“I did it!” He cried out proudly and Sunrise patted him gently yet proudly, upon the back.

“Bobby- Sit down!” A girl called when the boy stood there before the other kids. He yelped and hurried back to his seat once Moondrop had the rings.

Due to being a Daycare, these rings were actually play dough that was dried in the shape of rings. One for each Animutant respectively.

A sunny yellow and nighttime blue~

They were the finest Rings any fairytale book had shown~

“Wit dese rings, I announce dem married!” The ‘Priest’ announced, hands upwards.

“Now KISS!”

This wasn't how a real wedding went, but it was ‘pretend’ after all~

For the kids, it was all pretend~

Well, maybe for some.

But for the two Animutants, it was the best wedding they could have possibly dreamed of, if at all!

The most magical thing they'd ever read in storybooks!

As real and true, as only Animutants could be, wed!

In the eyes of their precious kiddos

-

“With this ring, Sunrise, I promise to love you forever and always! To protect you, to be yours and yours alone forever~” Moondrop whispered as he and Sunrise leaned in to touch noses as their ‘kiss’.

Sunrise, tears spilling from his golden eyes whimpered out lovingly, “With this ring, Moondrop, I prooomise to love you forever and always! To be there for you, To hold you forever~”

Teary golden eyes spilled into teary summer blues~

Noses touched in a ‘kiss’ sent the kids assembled cheering and clapping.

The embrace the two Animutants brought themselves into was nothing short of a happily ever after moment, leaving the kids as witness to this dream finally coming true~
