Sparks of lightning fill the room, as well as screaming. The screams of one dead soul brought back to life.
Lucifer stood by as he anxiously watched the man he called father man the controls to help finish his bride.
His bride.
For too long, he had longed for someone. Someone to spend his days with, to care for and protect, to hold and cherish, someone for him. He had seen couples as they loved each other. How it made him green with him. Now he no longer would wonder what that sort of love would be like.
His heart fluttered at the thought as he clenched the bouquet in his hand. He waited in anticipation for what seemed to be eternity. Then, finally, it all stopped. The lightning. The screaming.
It stopped.
And suddenly there was an indistinct sound he couldn’t make out. His gaze turned to his bride, who was convulsing and seizing on the table he was strapped to. He tilted his head and chuckled. His bride was funny.
He attempted to take a step forward but stopped when he saw his father’s hand was raised. "Hold just a moment, Lucifer."
"But Father-
Gerald Morgenstern, the "father" of Lucifer, explained to his son, "We need to allow him to breathe. To come acquainted with the world around him before pouncing on him like a panther."
Lucifer wanted more than anything to disobey his father’s order, but knew better. His father knew best after all. So, they waited for a few minutes, and finally the movement stopped. All he could hear was ragged breathing, and he saw his chest heaving. His poor bride, being born, really takes a lot out of a person. He turned to his father with pleading eyes, and with a small nod of approval, he made his way over.
As he got closer, he couldn’t help but truly admire the true beauty that his bride. His skin was mainly grey with a few pale patches sewn on. His hair was brown but with a hint of green in it. But the most striking feature he had was his eyes. One was an emerald green, while the other was a molten gold. Even as they were wide with terror, they still looked beautiful to him.
Lucifer was not, in fact, the first person to interact with his bride. It was his father who had that honor. His bride was whimpering, and he tried to console him. "There now, it’s alright, you’re alright. There’s no need to be frightened."
His bride turned his gaze towards his father. "Hello, young one, I am your creator, and technically your father-in-law. " He chuckled warmly as he gently placed his hand on top of his own. Which made the bride calm for a moment. "Your name shall be Adam."
For a split second, the bride, Adam, attempted to smile. However, it fell apart the moment he laid eyes on the creature on his other side.
Its skin was pale, as white as a ghost, actually. Its face was the stuff of nightmares with two beady, red eyes that stared into his soul. Worst of all was its smile, its jagged, sharp fangs on clear display.
And then it spoke,
"Hello, I’m Lucifer, your husband!" He shoved red roses into his bride’s face. "I picked these just for you!"
Adam couldn’t take it anymore and screamed. Lucifer’s face dropped as he stepped back and watched his bride begin to thrash around the table. "AHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Lucifer jumped in horror as he was frightened by this development. "Darling? Darling, what’s wrong?"
But Adam didn't answer him; he just kept screaming. "AHHHHHH!!!!"
"I don’t understand. Do you not like roses?"
"AHHHHH!!!"
"I can pick something else from the garden if you’d like?"
"AHHHH!!!"
"What’s wrong? Just tell me what’s wrong!?"
Adam didn’t hear him, instead shutting his eyes and continuing to scream and cry. Unable to control his emotions. Suddenly, he felt a prick in his shoulder. He turned and saw that his creator had shoved a needle into him. He pushed down on the needle, and something went into him. He suddenly felt incredibly weak and felt his eyelids shut.
Soon, Adam was fast asleep, leaving the creation and creator with just themselves. The doctor sighed heavily, knowing there would be a chance his second creation would reject his first. He turned his gaze over to Lucifer, who had a confused, crestfallen look.
His creator placed his hand on Lucifer's shoulder. "Don't be sad, son." Lucifer sniffled and looked down at the flowers in his hands, his eyes watering. "It's hard not to be sad....... He doesn't like me, does he?"
"...... He's probably just overwhelmed; meeting new people can be a lot."
Yeah, Lucifer knew that. He only had his father when he woke up..... But when others from the town saw him, even at a distance, they ran away from him.
The only "normal" part of him was his hair, which was as blonde as the bleached sun with white through it. His father explained once that he didn't know why Lucifer's skin and eyes were that way; apparently, the eyes were blue when he found them.
But to have his own bride not even like him......
"Can you excuse me, father?"
Gerald nodded and let his son go; his boy was so sweet and meant well.
Lucifer couldn't help but feel like sometimes it felt like his father was the only one in the world who loved him.
Lucifer went and sat in the little secret area in his father's garden, where he would sit when he was sad.
He hugged his knees to his chest as tears fell.
Moans echoed across the room as the creature finally stirred from his rest. Eyes blinked open as they adjusted to the world around them. It was all fuzzy at first until finally at long last he could see everything clearly.
He had no idea where he was. In fact he had no idea exactly what he was in. He had no idea on anything really.
He hadn’t a clue on what he was himself.
His thoughts were nothing more than a train going down a dark narrow track with nothing in sight and no passengers on board. The creature blinked as he heard footsteps fast approaching. He tussled around in his restrains, scared out of his own skin at what was to come.
"It’s alright now, you're alright." A voice called out as something soft touched his cheek.
The creature stopped stirring as it enjoyed the warmth that came from the touch.
"There we are, feeling much better Adam?"
The creature, Adam, had no idea on how to respond. Instead, soft moans escaped from his mouth in lieu of words. The doctor hummed, "Looks like your speech is a little delayed. That's okay, but you understand me yes? Just nod if so."
Adam nodded, he could understand the words leaving his creators mouth and he wanted to use them to answer back...... But he couldn't for some reason.
"Good, good........ Do you remember anything from when you woke before?"
Adam thought for a moment and then it came back to him. That white face, red eyes, and sharp teeth. He whimpered in response.
"There, there, no need to fret, Lucifer is very kind. He will be very good to you I promise. He might not be much to look at but his heart is good. Up you get." Gerald would never say Lucifer was ugly, he was handsome...... In a haunting way.
He helped Adam to stand, and he was a little wobbly but that was to be expected. Adam wore a white gown over his body. "Mm?" Adam moaned in confusion. "Let's try walking." The doctor suggested.
Adam made no sound of approval nor opposition as he was supported by his creator to take his first steps. It was slow at first and felt as though he were stepping on eggshells and ice. But eventually after putting one foot in front of the other they were soon walking across the room.
"That’s it! Very good Adam! You’re going spendidly!" Gerald praised him.
Adam made another noise, this time from what can be perceived as happiness. He enjoyed the praise from his creator deeply. It made him feel good, important.
They had just made it to the other side of the room with the scientist continuing his praise when a new presence had made entry. "Father I-
The other creature stopped the second his gaze landed onto his bride. Who whimpered as he tried to hide away from him.
Lucifer felt the familiar cold sensation within his heart when he did that.
Gerald patted his back. "There, there now it’s alright Adam, this is your husband. Not someone you need to fear." Adam whimpered again, this other being, his.... Husband, was just scary to look at.
But even still, he looked so sad when Adam would cower away from him. ".... It's okay Father..... He doesn't have to like me...."
Gerald softened. "Lucifer, don't say that. You guys just need to spend a little time together, get to know each other." Lucifer shuffled in his spot, his right thigh bone was a little longer than the other so it made it uncomfortable and hard to walk at times.
He doesn't blame his bride, Lucifer remembered when he looked in a mirror the first time.
He smashed it.
Lucifer's lip trembled as he looked down, he just had to accept that even some made literally just for him didn't even want to be around him. "it's okay......" His voice was barely above a whisper.
"It’s going to be fine Lucifer, all you two need is some privacy." Helping Adam down onto the nearest surface Lucifer watched in slight fear as his father made his way out. "Father-
But he was out the door just as he spat out the word.
Nervously shuffling on his feet, he turned towards the being who was shaking in terror. "H, Hi……"
Adam made a sound at the back of his throat like a whimper and shied away from him.
Slowly, Lucifer reached out a hand, he's always wanted to hold someone's hand, but when he moved Adam flinched like he had burned him.
It reminded him of when he had made it to the town one time and he wanted to befriend this woman...... She screamed in his face and ran from him.
What was the use.......
Lucifer pulled his hand back, hurt written across his face. He should be used to all the rejection by now, but it still hurts. "S-sorry...... I'll leave you alone...."
He moved away from Adam, who was watching him. Lucifer went over to a seat near the corner where he picked up a rubber duck that he had found in the town.
His only friend.
It was one of the few things that didn’t judge him based on his being alone.
Alone…..
He was all alone in this world.
He had thought that a creature like him would love him as they were the same.
But he was wrong.
He was simply an unlovable beast, took hideous to be looked upon. He hugged the duck close to his chest as he felt the familiar sting of tears welling up in his eyes. From where he sat the bride of Lucifer watched in a mixture of fascination and fear as the beast that scared him appeared to be scared himself.
It didn’t make sense to him, how could he be scared? He was the scariest thing in this room, or maybe that was what scared him?
Be it curiosity or something else Adam cautiously stood up and because of his still shaking legs crawled over to where Lucifer sat.
Slowly, Adam peaked around to look at Lucifer, whose eyes were closed. He looked so sad....... There was water leaking from his eyes and running down his ghostly pale cheeks. In this lighting his skin, though still very white had a faint gray undertone.
Adam tilted his head and looked down to the little yellow thing he was holding.
What was that? Why was his face wet? Adam didn't know the answers.
He reached a handout to touch the yellow thing, his hand brushed Lucifer's arm making him jump.
Which made Adam jump and pull his hand away when Lucifer opened his eyes. But he soon looked down away from Adam.
Lucifer sniffled and wiped his face of tears. "Please, just leave me be."
Adam didn’t understand what that meant, he barely understood what most words were but he felt as though the creature was trying to push him away. Somehow Adam felt that he shouldn’t do as he was told. Instead he got closer to the strange being, and closer, and closer until he was mere inches away from his face.
Lucifer squeaked when he saw just how close his bride was. "O, Oh, um……." He gulped trying not to appear frightened but feeling his heart race up. "W, What are you doing?" He asked, fear evident in his tone.
Adam tilted his head as he lowered it down to Lucifer’s chest. If it were possible the other creature would be blushing mad. But since the blood didn’t flow in all the right places he was stuck feeling warmth bloom like a flower within.
Meanwhile Adam was enjoying the rhythmic beating coming from inside his groom. It even seemed to go faster and then slowly it got into a nice pace that he enjoyed.
Adam didn't know what it was, but he really liked it. He wondered if he had one too. Gently, he placed his hand on his own chest and smiled the best he could when he felt a similar thrum under his skin.
They shared a melody under their flesh, even though Adam didn't understand he knew it made them similar.
Lucifer was finally relaxing, his mood better now that his bride was okay being near him. He didn’t know how it happened but in the blink of an eye Adam was laying on him.
His warm plush body feeling good against his own. His father paid no expense when creating his bride. He had the curves that would make even a succubus green with envy, while also making sure that there was masculinity sewn with the rest.
As to please his son's preference for what he wished in a bride. Adam was truly as pretty as a rose. He wished he could be as handsome as a stallion for Adam though.
"Mmm...." Lucifer blinked at Adam's moan. "Mmm?" His bride let out another weak moan. "Mm..."
"Are you trying to speak Adam?" The groom asked his bride curiously. Adam nodded, he didn't understand why he couldn't make the sounds that Lucifer and his creator made.
He wanted to.
"Hmmm....... Maybe we can start with just your name? Can you say "Adam"?
"Mmmm..... Aaaaa...... Aaaaaa....." Adam groaned when nothing like Lucifer's speech came from his own.
It was frustrating, he just wanted to speak.
"Almost, keep trying." The creature urged supportively. Adam gritted his teeth as he forced the words right out his mouth. "A…..A…..dam."
"That’s it! Keep going!"
"A, A, A……dam."
"I know you can do it just one more time my bride."
"A….dam…….Adam."
Lucifer grinned. "That's it!" Adam blinked and smiled. "A.... Adam. Adam!"
"Yes!" Lucifer cheered as he felt his smile split in half from joy.
It would probably take a while before he learned to talk like Lucifer and their creator, but Adam knew that he could do it.
With his grooms help he knew he could do anything.
"A……pple…….A…pple……Apple!"
Lucifer smiled. "Good." He put down the fruit and picked up the next item.
The two of them were going through words helping to extend Adam’s vocabulary. So far things were progressing quite nicely.
"Now how about……this?" He held up a beautiful, feathered hat, the ones that ladies wore on their outings. "What is this?"
"…..Cap!"
"Close Adam, hat!"
Adam smiled and corrected himself. "Hat!"
"Very good! Let's try a small sentence." He placed the apple on the hat. Adam hummed with squinted eyes as he tried to figure it out. "Apple..... Hat?" Lucifer smiled. "Close! Apple on hat."\
"A-Apple on haaat."
Lucifer grinned. "You're getting it!" He praised him as he clapped his hands softly. He felt so proud of his bride, he’s learning at a tremendously fast rate. Soon enough he would be speaking in fluent sentences and they would be able to have full on conversations.
But for now, they will take it slow and Lucifer will help Adam get the hang of speaking in general.
He was even helping him walk more by showing him around their home.
"You are doing absolutely marvelous my dear." He said to Adam as he held him by the arm, supporting him as they made their usual rounds around the manor. "M, M, Marvelous." Lucifer beamed. "As smart as a whip too!"
"Whip! Whip! Whip!"
Lucifer chuckled as he gently ruffled the soft brown hair of his bride. He had such gorgeous locks, it honestly reminded the un dead of the feeling of rose petals. His hair was the color of soil so it did make sense that it would feel this way.
Adam smiled as he felt the nimble fingers of his groom run through his locks and lightly scratch his scalp.
It felt oh so lovely when he did that.
Sighing contentedly, he allowed himself to be fully immersed with the touch of Lucifer. Not caring for the world around him.
Even though there was a whole world outside of their creators castle on the hill.
But they could never be a part of the regular world, people were cruel and wouldn't understand them.
Lucifer remembered when he first got out and went to the town. People were less than kind.
So, he stayed home.
Now he had his bride to keep him company and he vowed to keep Adam safe. Because isn't that what regular spouses do? Make vows of love.
And then one day Adam made his vow to Lucifer.
The two of them were out in the garden, the very first time Adam had ever stepped foot out there. He was deeply enamored by every sound, scent, and beauty that this holy place had to offer. Lucifer sat his bride down on a bench after giving him a little tour of this piece of paradise.
But then he did something unexpected. He gave Adam a gift of sorts.
A ring
"For you my dear, if you let me?"
"….Yes." Adam replied as he nodded his head up and down. Lucifer smiled before placing the ring on a nimble finger. "With this golden band, you hold my entire heart in your hands."
"I…..do?" The bride tilted his head cutely at him.
"More than you realize."
Adam smiled, a genuine one that Lucifer could tell he was about to receive words from his bride. "You….do…too." His voice raspy but gentle.
Lucifer blinked in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"You…..hold my…..heart….in your hands." Lucifer felt his heart skip a beat. "Do you truly mean that my love?"
"….With all my soul." The creature cried as he his heart was overfilling with love. "You have no idea how badly I love you."
"I love you too."
Lucifer nearly stumbled back how smoothly it came out of Adam’s mouth. But he regained his composure when he realized on the true extend of his bride’s words. "Oh my sweet bride." Adam smiled. "My beloved groom." Lucifer cupped Adam’s cheek before pulling him in for a kiss.
In the garden they embraced as husbands being given sanctuary in their own little Eden.
