Destroyer

Work Text:

Tsukasa Kadoya was known across worlds as the Destroyer of Worlds.
A name that clung to him like a curse something whispered in fear and hatred, something he never asked for but could never escape.
Every time he stepped into a new world, the same pattern repeated: suspicion, fear, and rejection. People only saw the title, not the person behind it.

But not everyone believed the stories.
The first person to stand beside him was Yuusuke Onodera, a Kamen Rider from another world who never once looked at him with fear.

Yuusuke was awkward, far too earnest at times, and had a heart so big it made Tsukasa uncomfortable. But maybe that was why Tsukasa trusted him. No matter how many times Narutaki appeared, warning Yuusuke that Tsukasa would destroy everything he held dear, Yuusuke only laughed and said, “Then I’ll stop him before that happens.”

Simple. Naive. Sincere. It was the kind of thing only Yuusuke could say with absolute conviction.

Before Yuusuke, there was Natsumi. She and her grandfather had taken Tsukasa in when he was lost not just between worlds, but within himself. He couldn’t remember where he’d come from, couldn’t even recall if he had a home.

Yet Natsumi had smiled at him that first day and told him, “Then we’ll find it together.”
She was kind, but firm; compassionate, but unafraid to scold him when he was being stubborn. And she had this ridiculous “secret move” a playful pinch whenever he got too full of himself.

The first time she did it, Tsukasa had been too startled to react. The second time, he laughed. Somehow, that simple gesture grounded him more than any lecture could.
Together, the three of them traveled across countless worlds each with its own heroes, tragedies, and broken dreams.

Tsukasa had seen versions of Riders who had lost everything, and others who still fought desperately to protect what little they had left. He learned from all of them.
But the more he learned, the heavier his burden grew.

Every step he took toward saving others seemed to push him further from understanding himself.

Even so, Natsumi and Yuusuke stayed. They never turned away. They never stopped believing there was more to him than the “Destroyer.”

And maybe… that was enough to keep him moving forward.

When they reached the World of Blade, something was different.

Kendate Kazuma looked at him not with fear, not with hatred, but with recognition. He understood what it meant to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, to fight because no one else could. For the first time, Tsukasa felt seen by another Rider, not as a threat, but as someone trying — just trying to do the right thing.

When their fight was over and the world began to heal, Tsukasa prepared to leave, the familiar feeling of departure already settling in his chest. But before he could step away, Kazuma turned to him and said quietly,

“You know… you’re not a destroyer. You saved this world.”

For a moment, Tsukasa didn’t know how to respond.
The words caught him off guard simple, direct, and honest. He wasn’t used to that kind of faith from strangers.

He gave a small, almost imperceptible smile. “Heh. You’re the first one to say that.”
Kazuma didn’t answer, just smiled back in that quiet, knowing way of his.

As Tsukasa turned toward his bike , he caught sight of Natsumi adjusting her camera because she was taking photos with Tsukasa’s camera sometimes, and Yuusuke waving impatiently.

“Come on, Tsukasa! The next world’s waiting!”
He chuckled softly under his breath. “Always rushing ahead…”

For the first time in a long while, the word destroyer didn’t sting as much. Maybe it didn’t define him after all. Maybe, as long as Natsumi and Yuusuke were with him, he could keep moving forward not to destroy, but to connect the worlds.

With one last glance back at Kazuma, Tsukasa stepped into the light.

Another world, another story.
And maybe, one day, he’d finally find his own.
