'Where Does One Go When They Die?'
A Riddle in Verse, by late Kustoff Evanovich (from "49s ways Before '49: The Complete Works of Kustoff", 1957)

Where does one go when they die?
To stars above or flames below?
To fields of gold or endless snow?
Is it judgment, rest, or rebirth—
Or just the silence of the earth?

Some say the soul is weighed and tried,
By gods with scales and eyes wide.
    A feather, a heart, a name recalled—
Or jaws that snap if truth is stalled.

Others dream of halls with mead,
Where warriors feast on valor’s deed.
Or western shores where kings await,
And death is but another gate.

Three faiths speak of One who sees,
Who writes your fate in cosmic keys.
He sends you up or casts you low,
To gardens bright or fires aglow.

Some say you’re born again and again,
A wheel of lives, a karmic pen.
    Others claim you simply cease—
No soul, no light, no pain, no peace.

So where does one go when they die?
The answer lies, through this one's eyes...
