Work Text:

“Hello?” Joobin shouted, no answer.

“I know you can hear me! Why aren’t you answering? You went this way, I saw it from the balcony!!” She carried on.

Her vision blurred, the sides blackening. She looked down in a haze and saw her white socks stained with blood and glass.

‘Who could have done this?’

She awoke back in the home, sitting at the dining table eating her breakfast. The others were chatting and laughing, as enthusiastic as ever.

“Hey… Did you guys ever check that forest out?” Joobin asked, confused.

“Obviously not! We’re told to strictly never leave the gardens dummy!” Hayeon quickly shut her down.

Shion had a bit of concern in her eyes, “Have you had a nightmare last night? Because I doubt ever entering even the garden.”

Lynn just stayed silent.

Later, they were sitting in the living room. Joobin could not stop thinking about the dream she had earlier. ‘Am I just going crazy? They would never!’.

She was playing with her pen, somehow fascinated by its range of colours, and the fact it was ballpointed. In the corner of her eye, she saw someone run away. Was that Hayeon? She shrugged, going back to staring at the pen.

Hayeon was at a gate, slowly prying it open, not fully, but enough so that if she simply pushed it with a bit of force it would open. She suddenly heard footsteps, and swiftly made her way back to the seat.

She started whispering to the others, first Lynn and then Shion.

“Huh???” Shion responded, “Why would we do that?”

“Just trust me”

Hayeon led Shion and Lynn around, pulling them room to room, whispering in their ears, asking them to pry open locked windows, all to ‘escape’. Joobin was oblivious to everything, but sensed something bad was happening.

Throughout the days, they structured out their plan. They would go through the gate hallway right to the back door and escape through there. If that didn’t work they would just jump out of the window.

“Why won’t we tell Joobin?” Lynn asked, growing a bit of suspicion.

Hayeon sighed, pinching her nose.

“Did I not tell you multiple times? She’s a snitch and will just tell the mistress.”

They purposefully excluded her from their hangouts, plotting without Joobin knowing in the slightest. Whenever she would walk in the room whilst they were talking, they would immediately shut up.

The day arrived. Hayeon led Lynn and Shion to the hallway gate and slowly opened it, making sure to make as little noise as possible as to not alert the mistress nor Joobin. They managed to make their way out through the back and started pacing for it.

Joobin stood on the balcony, watching the view before she suddenly saw the others running. She didn’t do anything about it, just sat and watched the show.

“So I was right, they would go…” She muttered to herself.

After their shadows were long gone, she followed them through a slightly open window.

She ran into the forest, chasing them. Her heart was beating maniacally and legs aching. She stopped for a brief moment, panting. She looked down and saw it. Her white socks, stained red.
