Chapter Text
I stretched out my hand, reaching to grab hold of the bar. I became momentarily weightless, before gravity had hold of me and I plummeted down. Wind whipped around me and ruffled my ponytail before the net caught me, bouncing like a trampoline until eventually being still. I felt a throb on my forehead and lightly with my left hand, pressed down. A short, sharp, pain shot thought my head. That’s going to leave a bruise tomorrow.
Kiko Malcum, acrobat, triplet, and now bearer of a dark purple bruise on her forehead, was sitting in a train carriage looking out the window. Her knees were drawn up against her chest, her arms wrapped around them. Her forehead hurt, causing her to think of her fall and how she planned to practice until her arms ached. Kiko could see her face in the reflection of the window. In her reflection, her white hair seemed to glow in the warm, midday sun, like a blanket of light that reached just pass her shoulders. Her eyes looked a shade darker, one light blue and one light brown.
“How’s your forehead?” Autumn Malcum, Kiko’s triplet sister, sat down on the other side of the table, resting her elbows on the edge and folded her hands in front of herself. Kiko turned to look at her. Like her sister, Autumn had pure white hair and multi-coloured eyes. Though instead of light blue and brown, she had light hazel and blue. Her hair fell to the middle of her back when it was out, now it was in a low ponytail
“I can still feel the bruise, though I hope it will be gone by the time we preform next. And you can bet that I’m going to practice more and perfect the grab.”
“I know you will Ki” Autumn smiled at her sister.
“Pro tip Ki, don’t hit your head into an oncoming pole, just saying.” Kai Malcum, Kiko’s triplet brother, slipped into the seat next to Autumn. Just as his sisters have, he had white hair and multi-coloured eyes, one light brown and one light hazel.
“I know that Kai,” Kiko said as though she had previously been forced to rehearse the line, though she said it with a gentle smile.
“Do either of you know when we’re stopping for our next show?” Kiko asked.
“In 3 days I think” Autumn thought aloud.
“Ok, there is still time for me to practice,” Kiko paused as Kai eyed her.
“For us to practice,” Kiko corrected herself as Kai with a satisfied look on his face leaned back and closed his eyes.
