Mecha flood

Summary:

A fan fiction about Water Boy and Robert. It is a slow burn that I will post more to when I am progressively able to 😋

Chapter Text

My name is Robert Robertson, or also known as Mecha Man.

Robert grabbed the left overs he left in the break room. He just finished a successful dispatch if you ignore all the phoenix team’s shinanagins. Once Robert sat down he heard a soft squeak from the doorway. It was his newest member, Waterboy.

“Hey, Water boy,” Robert smiled and walked towards him.

“Hey— hello, Rob— Robert! How ar— whatcha— what are you— eating.” Water Boy finally spit out after stuttering for an eternity.

“I’m good, I’m just eating left overs from last night.” Robert replied as he reached out a piece of cold pizza.

“For me? Oh uhm, tha— tha— thank you, Robert.” Water Boy looked down at Robert and picked up the slice of pizza. His hands were so slippery that the pizza almost slipped onto the floor. He took a bite then looked at Robert giving him a thumbs up.

“Yeah I like it too, I’ll see you during dispatch.” Robert walked back to Water Boy placing a hand on his shoulder before leaving.

“Yeah, yeah. See you! Later!” Water Boy waved slowly and lankily.

Robert walked over to his desk and bent over to pet his chubby dog Beef. Chase peaked over the cubical wall.

“Hey, kid.” Chase looked down at Beef and grinned.

“Hi, unc,” Robert snickered softly. He put on his headphones. His finger gently pressed on the buttons.

He tapped on a key and it left a slight drippy residue. It was probably from when he touched Water Boy. Robert wiped on his pants

“Can you guys hear me alright?” Robert

“Yes, Bobbie Boberton." Sonar replied in a snarky voice. Flambae started dying laughing not because it was funny but because it was made about Robert.

“Haha so funny, Stellaluna.” Robert snapped back and everyone was quiet. Water Boy laughed fakily to try and make Robert feel a little better.

“Nobody knows what you're talking about. Just assign us to our jobs already.” Prism groaned annoyingly.

Robert sighed until he saw a distress signal pop up on his screen. He clicked onto it, it was just someone stuck in a manhole. He chose Flambae and sent him onto the mission alone.

After an hour Blonde Blazer chimed into the call. “Hi, so there is a kid stuck at the water park. I’d recommend sending Water Boy. You know, to let him shine in his element.” Everyone groaned in response at her suggestion.

“He’ll find a way to mess up at such a simple task.” one joked “What is he gonna throw up water on the kid.” Another chimed in.

“Really? Thank you, Blazer Blonde!” He shouted gleefully. Robert couldn’t help but smile at how happy he sounded.

Robert deployed the mission and decided to watch over Water Boy’s work. Water Boy arrived at the water park as expected. He went over to the water slide where a little boy was stuck. The little boy was crying so much it was surprising that his tears weren’t enough to keep him sliding.

Water Boy walked up the flight of stairs leading to the slide. He had to slip and squirm through the bundles of people already wet from swimming. “Sorry, excuse me… sorry!” He’d plead as he inched closer to the top.

Once he arrived he slid inside the water slide. He shimmied around until he could hear the kid wailing. He tapped the kid before placing him on his lap. “Hold on tight.” He comforted before spitting a bunch of water and sliding down.

Water Boy lifted the kid onto the pavement and pulled himself up. The little boy clung onto Water Boy’s leg still crying. Water Boy awkwardly patted the boy’s head as the people around him cheered and praised him.

Robert clicked onto the private call button. “Great job, Water Boy.” He commented as he watched Water Boy from the security cameras. Water Boy’s cheeks flushed slightly; it wasn't super noticeable since his cheeks were always rosy.

Water Boy was caught in the moment till something caught his eye. He saw two men carrying a box into a supply room. It seemed like they had something to hide. “He- hey, Robert. Can you hack a camera into that room?” Water Boy asked, pointing to the supply closet.

“Yeah sure? Robert replied skeptically. He clicked onto the camera system system. “Shit, there’s a fire wall. Guess they really don’t want us seeing.” He commented as he continued hacking.

“There we go.” Robert cheered to himself. He moved the camera side. He saw a group of 5 men with a large box in the middle and little boxes all around. They were wearing clothes and holding plastic baggies.

Robert looked around to find an opening for Water Boy to sneak inside. He saw a little window that peered over them. It was hard to notice unless you stared directly at it. “Hey, Water Boy. There is an opening on the side of the storage room. It’s a tight fit but I believe you can slip in.”

“Yes, s- sir!” Water Boy replied gleefully. He slipped through the crowd of people comforting the little boy. He skinned up a cluster of inflatables to the window. Water peered inside and slipped on.

He fell on his butt and winced slightly. When he looked up he saw all of the men staring at him. Water Boy awkwardly waved and they immediately grabbed their weapons. They all had knives since if they shot a bullet people would hear them.

“So, uhm. I’m the new janitor here!” Water Boy lied with hands up nervously. Robert sighed on the other line. One of the men lunged towards Water Boy but slipped on the water trail instead and hit the wall.

Everyone paused before lunging at him. Water Boy sprayed a wave of water below their feet. He then slid in between their feet. Water Boy slipped a bit before standing back up and grabbing a water gun. He threw it at the first guy’s head knocking him back down.

He scrambled around to find some way to trap them. He turned his back and shuffled around in the cabinets for something.

“Water Boy, look out!” Robert shouted into the mic. Water Boy quickly turned around to see one of the men trying to stab it. The man went to slash Water boy’s face but Water Boy pushed him to the ground and pinned him down by the hands. The man cut a shallow slice on Water Boy’s face.

Water Boy frantically spit a flood of water in the man’s face to practically drown him. The man let go of the knife and passed out of the ground. Water Boy panted before sitting up and staring at the struggling men. He slowly stood up and found a pile of rope.

He politely pushed the men into a circle formation and walked the rope in a circle. When it came to tying it, Water Boy had a lot of trouble. He remembered when Robert helped him tie his tie during his interview. He took a deep breath before tying it.

Once Water Boy arrived back at SDN Robert waited in the lobby. He held a band aid in his hand.

“Oh— hi, sir!” Water Boy greeted fiddling with his fingers. He was a little embarrassed since he thought Robert would be upset since he performed pretty poorly at the water park.

“Bend over a bit.” Robert asked, “not like that.” He interrupted himself with a slight blush. “Just lean in for a second.” He asked as he got closer to Water Boy’s face. He placed a water proof band aid on his cut and patted his shoulder.

“You did really well. I’m proud of you Water Boy. What if I take you somewhere to celebrate. I’ll pay and the Z-Team won’t be there since they can be kinda mean.” Robert offered as he smiled up at Water Boy.

Water Boy began to sweat and flush slightly. “Like— a date— just— just us? It’s not like I mind it!” Water Boy sighed. “I’d like that.”
