Work Text:
You lay upon the cold snowy grass in the middle of the forest with blood gushing out of your right abdomen — It's funny how you could be arguing with your lover and the next second; die in the middle of a forest. Just the thought of it makes you giggle like a child once more.
Everything around you feels so warm and fuzzy, you have an urge to close your eyelids but the pain is excruciating. You can't move your limbs or even yell for help, Well— you could but you prefer not to since it'd just be a waste of resources trying to save someone like you.
‘ Can’t you just leave me alone for once!? Ever since I've taken you in, All you do is stray me from my task to save my Eva! I hate you, I hate you so much..! You are such a miserable, insufferable, mortal woman who no longer shows any physical means to me! ‘
‘ I should've left you to rot when I had the chance. ‘
Her words continue to ring in your ears, her puffed up wings and her scowled look— the scene keeps replaying over and over, You slowly begin dozing off but then; a silhouette comes over you, snapping you out of your thoughts with their screech of despair.
You quickly learned who is wailing beside you, It's her— Mother Miranda. You smiled softly with your blurry vision as she mourns over you.
“No– NO! I can't lose you too..!!” She cries.
“Please— stay awake! I can fix this.. I will fix this..I swear! Just don't go– Don't leave me–!”
You watched as her tears dripped down her cheek, yet all you could do was smile softly at her– With a bit of strength and ache, you managed to cup her face and speak a few simple words.
“ Don't cry, Pretty Bird..” you reassured gently.
“How can I not when you lay in front of me having a hemorrhage..–!”
“ Pretty Birds.. don't- cry, remember?” you giggled faintly.
“Even in such state you still joke about things–”
“Shh.. Pretty Bird, Everything will be alright.” Your hand falls limp back to your side, you coughed roughly ill.
“Just— stay with me..for a while, please?” you plead quietly as you watch her nod with a clenched jaw; She was clearly holding herself back from showing too much emotion.
“Hm.. I love you..”
“You know that right..?” you glanced at her once last time.
“Yes, I love you too— I love you a lot, actually.. more than words could ever describe.. please, Dove There's still— .”
“Don't forget to eat and sleep from time to time, I love you with all my heart—” you gasped loudly, taking deep breaths.
Take..— care..pretty– ‘ird..”
She wails as you slowly slip away in her arms, you hear a gut wrenching scream after you nuzzle yourself in deep sleep.
You didn't want to leave like this.
You didn't want her to be anguished.
Your heart aches to see her in such state.
You died filled with guilt.
You died full of regrets.
You died knowing you caused her sorrow.
