Chapter 1: The Flight

Chapter Text

Nordeland, Hulderlands

9:00 am Nordeland time (28 April 1997), Monday.

Hulderlands International Airport, Passenger Terminal, Remote Bay.

Cockpit of Trolberg Airlines ATR 72, Flight TR-01.

Captain Johanna together with her First Officers, Freya, and Erika are going through their preflight checklist in their cockpit. After they had completed the external preflight checks on their ATR 72 with the ground crew earlier.

After Captain Johanna and First Officer Freya checked their respective cockpit instruments, Captain Johanna confirmed with her loadmaster, First Officer Erika, that the cargo and luggage are already secured.

After completing everything on their checklist, Captain Johanna gave the orders for the Cabin Crew to arm the doors and do a cross check. Upon confirmation from both the Cabin Crew and her instrument panel. Captain Johanna started up the plane and made her usual pre-departure announcement.

Captain Johanna

Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain, Johanna Gran speaking, on behalf of my crew I would like to welcome you all on board our flight TR-01 bound for Jernhavn.

Permit me to introduce my crew members on this flight. With me on the flight deck are First Officer Freya Tigre, and First Officer Erika Blume. In the Cabin are Lead Air Steward Thomas, assisted by Air Steward Percy and Air Stewardess Emily.

I am certain our Cabin Crew will ensure that you all will enjoy the entire duration of the flight. The flight time this morning will be approximately 1 hour 30 mintues.

The weather forecast is expected to be clear. The Woff forecast is expected to be clear of Woffs within a 5 Km radius. Hopefully the weather spirts will behave today and the Woff forecast is accurate, so we can reach our destination safely and within the expected arrival time.

However, please ensure you have your seatbelts securely fastened when seated and when the seatbelt sign is switched on, please return to your seat as soon as possible.

As the doors have been closed and engines started, we should be looking at departure in around 5 minutes time.

We are honoured to have on our flight today a delegation from the Trolberg Safety Patrol, consisting of Captain Gerda Gustav together with Ranger Tony, Ranger Sam, and Ranger Paul.

Thank you for your attention and for choosing Trolberg Airlines.

After the flight deck received the clearance from the Air Traffic Control, both Captain Johanna and First Officer Freya taxied the plane to the runway to prepare for take-off while the Cabin Crew does the inflight safety demonstration for the passengers.

Which despite not having an inflight entertainment system like their alliance partners, as all their flights are below 3 hours, the inflight safety demonstration is all the entertainment the passengers could need for the short flight.

Which both gets the information across and help liven up an otherwise dull Monday morning for everyone onboard.

When the flight deck received the clearance from Air Traffic Control for take-off, Lead Air Steward Thomas announced for the Cabin Crew to their take off stations and for everyone to fasten their seatbelts. After everyone got to their take-off stations, Captain Johanna and First Officer Freya started the take-off procedures and got the plane successfully airborne.

After reaching cruising altitude, the flight deck turned on the Auto-Pilot and turned off the seat belt sign. For them to do some much-needed paperwork and to stretch their legs.

50 Minutes into the flight

After the flight reached the 50 Minutes mark, the Cabin Crew started the inflight service. As it is a short flight, the passengers would only be served a drink consisting of a bottle of either water or fruit juice, or a cup of either coffee or tea. Together with a light snack which are either a small packet of Jorts, a small packet of Bloops, a cucumber sandwich, a Tuna and Egg sandwich, or a Grilled cheese sandwich.

The food and drink are included in the flight ticket and special meals such as vegetarian and Halal must be prebooked at least 24 hours before the flight for both domestic and international flights.

The flight crew each brought their own meals for their inflight meal, mainly for safety reasons, so as to ensure that there will be someone able to fly the plane should either Captain Johanna or First Officer Freya be incapacitated by food poisoning.

Since the flight deck is separated from the passenger compartment, by a bulkhead, a cargo hold, and another bulkhead, it is difficult for the Cabin Crew to serve them food and drinks.

Lastly, due to the flight schedule of the mums. It is difficult to have a lunch break, therefore they will have small meals throughout the day.

However, all of them will always have a good breakfast and dinner at home daily, as their respective husbands only fly twice a day, three days weekly, back and forth between Hulderlands International Airport to Moorlands International Airport.

The good thing about their respective husband’s flights are that flights to Hulderlands International Airport are mostly full during the Summer, Spring, and Autumn months, while flights to Moorlands International Airport are mostly full during the Autumn and Winter months.

Making it one of Trolberg’s Airlines most profitable route, with plans to expand the fleet and the amount of Domestic, Regional, and International routes later in the future.

The parents know that being a Pilot has a lot of challenges, especially with irregular hours due to flying conditions in their route and also the safety checks that has to be done.

Which the dads know, as they missed their respective child’s Sparrow Scouts’ Graduation and Final badge ceremony.

However, they all know that they become Pilots as they want their respective child to have a bright future. Which Hilda, David, and Frida knows about it.

80 Minutes into their flight

After being given clearance by the Air Traffic control at Jernhavn International Airport, Trolberg Airlines Flight TR-01 started their descent.

Captain Johanna

Ladies and Gentleman this is your Captain speaking, we are beginning our descent into Jernhavn International Airport, the weather outside is sunny and clear with a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius

For those who are seated on the left window seats you can see the outskirts of Jernhavn and those seated on the right window seats, you all can see a herd of brown and beige Woffs together with the outskirts of Jernhavn.

Everyone please stow your tray tables, put your seat back upright, keep your window shades up, remain seated, and your seat belts securely fastened.

On behalf of Trolberg Airlines, I will like to thank you for flying Trolberg Airlines a member of Global League and where adventure awaits at every destination we fly to.

Cabin Crew please prepare for landing.

Nordeland, Jernhavn

10:40 am Nordeland time (28 April 1997) Monday,

Jernhavn International Airport, Passenger Terminal,Remote Bay.

After landing the plane safely, the plane is marshalled to a designated remote bay by the ground crew.

Various ground support equipment such as two small cargo lorries to pick up the cargo and luggage, and an Airport bus for the passengers together with a small lorry belonging to the Nordeland Army, are waiting for the passengers to disembark.

The lorry will be picking up Captain Gerda Gustav together with Ranger Tony, Ranger Sam, and Ranger Paul from the Airport to bring them to an army base located 10 Km from Jernhavn International Airport .

After Captain Gerda Gustav together with her Rangers boarded the lorry, the lorry together with them drove to an army base located 10 Km from Jernhavn International Airport after clearing the Security checkpoint at the Airport’s vehicle access gate.

The mothers after completing the necessary paperwork with the ground crew, got into a shuttle car to the terminal to file the paperwork in the Global League office spaces in the Terminal to which Trolberg Airlines has a small office space in the shared office spaces.

Captain Gerda Gustav together with her Rangers are currently on a mission in Jernhavn. Following an approval from both the Defence Ministry, and National Security Ministry to upgrade the Trolberg Safety Patrol and the Trolberg Police Force, despite them being under the National Security Ministry.
