Videl x Great Saiyaman oneshots - 2023

Summary:

A collection of (extremely old and poorly written) oneshots all the way back from the big 2023

Notes:

I happened to be going through my notes app, simply cringing at my old phases and being appalled at what I wrote, and then I stumbled upon a small collection of (mostly unfinished) stories way far back from January of 2023.

Safe to say I was either flabbergasted that a middle schooler to write something like that during my lunch period, or, contradictorily, very embarrassed that I, of all people, happened to write something like that.

So, buckle in my little dragons, brace yourself for the horrors of what a middle schooler wrote during their unfortunate time of being quite enamored by The Great Saiyaman (and of course the anguish of having no fics on Ao3 to read and kick my feet above my head about).

Enjoy, or cry, either way, you have been gracefully warned and I hope you forgive me for the disgrace I bring upon my name as an author.

(Also, I may edit these ever so slightly, but only for a spelling error or because one of these is in a big paragraph and that quite irritates me.)

(Another edit to this prehand warning, I sent all of these to my school email in order to post this. Have mercy on my soul, Lord please.)

{ Slightly edited, only a handful of instances in which I added wording, deleted wording. and changed wording to help this make more sense. }

A Forgetful Dance

Gohan x Videl/Great Saiyaman x Videl

It had been a normal day for Videl, no crimes, no annoying calls from reporters or even her father. At least... that was until her father had asked her to attend a very famous and secluded ball.

Now here she was, reluctantly at 11:43 PM, standing nervously at the food table as it seemed dancing was about to begin. She knew she’d have to dance, and Videl hated it. She hated every second of even imagining herself dancing with someone.

The professional band on the stage began to play a song, a very simple song that she didn’t recognize. Luckily, no one asked her to dance, to which Videl had to sigh in relief when they finished the song.

But her relief was short lived when she heard the announcement that everyone had to dance now. Her heart sank.

She was convinced by some rich looking dude to go dance, and she honestly could say she hated. Every. Fucking. Second. of that dance. The song was bad, at least she thought so, and the guy’s dancing? Even worse than hers.

The band gave everyone a 30 second break to find a new dancing partner, the rustling of music sheets loud in the bustling room as people found new dance partners. Videl felt a small buzz on her wrist.

“Yes?”

“Videl, act like you’re enjoying this.”

“Sorry sir, hard to do.”

“Find someone to dance with and make it look real!”

The transmission ended in a short crackle and Videl sighed. Great.

Just. Her. Luck.

Now, not only did she actually have to dance, she had to enjoy it? Bullshit. No one here was even worth dancing wi-

Her thoughts were cut off mid spiral as she saw exactly who she’d been dreading to see. It was none other than the rich bastard her father wanted her to dance with. He didn’t seem to see her as Videl tried to turn to walk away. She was mid step when she hit something, and hard.

She stumbled back with a hiss of pain, it was like she’d run into a damn wall. Videl was about to fall when she felt a hand steady her. Great.

“Are you alright?”

His voice was almost drowned out by the chattering but Videl half recognized it. Just her luck. Just her luck.

{Author's Note: I'm adding this right now to inform you the music playing is Sway by Michael Bublé, just in case you were curious}

Before he could muster an apology, the music started. He gave her a small apologetic look as she took his hand.

“Just dance already.” Videl muttered as she opened her eyes to see him, his helmet distracting her greatly from his surprisingly good dancing.

And she would be damned by who she was dancing with.

The Great Saiyaman.

Of all people.

It just had to be him, didn’t it?

Videl sort of-not recognized the song, but it seemed her dance mate was the opposite. She could hear him very lightly humming the song perfectly as he danced with her in almost perfect unison.

Videl had to say, she was surprised at how easily he could dance, how carefreely he simply pulled her along with him. She gasped a little as he dipped her in a bold but fluid movement, seemingly not noticing the looks they were getting. Videl grinned a little, finding herself enjoying this little dance more than she cared to admit.

Videl slid a hand to his shoulder, finding it in herself to move along with him in a surprisingly fluid manner. He gave her a half smile, still humming the tune of the song lightly. She could hear him just barely over the music, and she wondered if he was as good a singer as he was a dancer.

A few hushed whispers broke out over the violins as he twirled her in a circle, catching her against him in a fluid yet careful movement. Videl found herself leaning into his touch, grinning as she moved along with him, and even though she didn’t know this dance very well, he seemed to guide her movements flawlessly.

A few people stepped aside to let them dance, a space cleared around the pair as they danced to the music without a care. Videl found herself actually enjoying this little dance, not giving the idea this would cause rumors a singular thought as she let him dip her again.

His hold was gentle yet still strong and Videl found herself becoming genuinely curious. How did he make her enjoy this? She hated dancing, and she’d never even danced to this song before.

The Great Saiyaman hummed the last bit of the song as she spun her in two circles and stopped her with a small bow.

“Apologies, thank you for the dance my dear.”

Videl couldn’t muster any words so she just nodded as he kissed her hand lightly before he disappeared into the crowd.

She stood there for a moment before she turned and walked back to the food table, her heart beating in her chest.

Whether it was from the adrenaline rush of dancing, or that bold little act he’d just pulled in front of so many people, Videl couldn’t decide.
