Chapter Text
Pleasant as the surprise had been, Y/N didn’t think much more of it. At least nothing more than it being a kind man who had seen her boredom and decided to play along.
As the flight went on she didn’t dwell on it further, instead continuing to work on her poetry, tucked away in the back corner of the plane. She felt like a true tortured poet, high above the clouds that hid the secrets of all men.
In the midst of her thoughts, a voice interrupted.
“Would you like anything?” asked the flight attendant.
"Oh, yes please, i would like a Coke Zero and some chips, please"
"Coming right up"
"Thank you"
As she waited for her coke and chips, she let her eyes scan the cabin to gain an oversight of the place and people there. Pure curiosity. She glanced behind the flight attendant slowly gazing upon all the people around her, almost sketching their outlines in her mind as she studied them.
Suddenly, her gaze was disturbed.
Someone was looking back at her. Begging for her attention, and getting it.
It was the same gentleman as before. He smiled at her again, and she felt her cheeks begin to redden, as she allowed a smile to crawl across her lips.
"Cash or card?"
"What?"
"Cash or card for the Coke and chips?"
"Oh right of course sorry. Card please"
"That will be three euros and twenty-five cents, please"
"Thanks"
Surprised by the strangers smile and the sudden end of their silent exchange, she glanced back over at him, only to see the man now locking lips with a beautiful brunette woman whom she could only assume to be his wife.
Damn. No airport romance this time.
Oh well. She thought, continuing with her poetry:
Whether anything is ever truly there
Is ultimately decided
By whether we are there
To watch it as intended
She hurriedly scratched out what she had just written.
Shit. Her focus was completely gone after flirting with a married man. How could she possibly write something worth reading right now.
Or… perhaps this was exactly the kind of scenario that motivated the seasoned and tortured writers, she pondered, gazing out the tiny bit of window that the back seat allowed her to see out of.
Shaking off the disappointment she looked back into the cabin and decided that now would be a good time to go to the bathroom. She'd finished her coke, and the people who had been sitting next to her had moved to join their friends elsewhere. Oh well... at least she had great legspace now with them being gone.
As she stood up to make her way to the lavatory she caught the eyes of the stranger once again. This time she didn't blush only serving a polite smile, breaking the eye contact by walking behind the curtain into the crew area, then into the lavatory.
What had she been thinking? To even consider that there might have been the tiniest flirt going on.
Even though she felt disappointed, she pulled herself together.
"Oh well, whatever. I wouldn't even have wanted to act on it if it had been a flirt" she said to herself while washing her hands.
She opened the door, shaking the water from her hands and looking down to avoid tripping over the small metal bar lining the entrance to the bathroom, when suddenly she hit a wall.
A strangely soft wall.
Wearing a blue and white pinstriped shirt on?
She realized that it wasn't a wall at all, but in fact the stranger from earlier, recognizing him by the shirt she had just rubbed her face against, and of course, the striking blue eyes that met hers once again as she looked up from his chest.
He smiled, his gaze steady on her surprisefilled eyes.
Holding her by the shoulders he teased "Whoa, where are you going so quickly stalker"
Stalker? Why would he call me that? she thought, not managing to say a word before his lips met hers, carefully pushing her against the lavatory door.
Instinctively she stepped back, her heart racing. Maybe it was shock. Maybe it was the quiet reminder that he was supposed to belong to someone else.
Either way she was instantly bewitched by the touch of his velvety soft lips.
Eyeing him up and down basically begging for him to kiss her again, which he promptly did, bending down over her, holding her arching back with one arm and gently cupping her face with the other. Her hand gliding in under the striped shirt to feel his body heat, up close and trace the muscles of his back. The other hand cupping his face in return, but slowly making its way to his hair, as his hand around her waist moved down her hips and thighs slightly lifting her leg, guiding her to wrap it around him intertwining them even more.
ding
A call for the flight attendant snapped them out of the trance and back to reality.
"Thanks" she said, not quite knowing what to do with herself.
"No worries. See you back here in forty five minutes" he replied, halfway demanding, halfway knowing.
And just like that he left, tousling his hair as he slipped through the curtain a mere second before the flight attendant walked in to fetch whatever she was called to get.
Y/N stood there for a moment, her mind spinning with what had just happened, before quickly composing herself and walking back to her seat. Shamefully turned on, she didn’t even dare to look up, afraid of meeting the stranger’s eyes again. Just the mere thought of it made her blush.
It got even worse when she sensed him looking her way, practically staring her down, before turning to kiss his wife deeply again.
Confusion filled her head once again. But this time with a burning feeling of both desire and jealousy. She tried to act as if she wasn’t wildly turned on, trapped so high up in the air, stuck on a plane with this man and his wife. My god could it get any worse? Or even more cliche? She thought to herself, waiting. Waiting those dreadfully long fortyfive minutes. God, had she ever been this turned on before?
The waiting was agony. She sat there, squirming almost grinding on her seat, her eyes locked on the silhouette of this strange man she’d just met. She only looked away when someone passed by, or to avoid others’ suspicious glances. About five minutes before they were supposed to meet, he said something to his wife, got up and disappeared behind the curtain to speak with the stewardess. After a minute or two, the toilet sign turned red. My god… he wouldn't be hooking up with her too, would he?
The blood drained from Y/N’s face, as she swallowed a lump, imagining what was happening behind the curtain. As she heard muffled laughter from behind the curtain, the worst thoughts started to cross her mind, when suddenly he walked out from behind the curtain with a can of seltzer in his hand and the stewardess following close behind him.
The toilet sign was still red. Had she just misinterpreted the entire situation?
The stranger walked back down the aisle, handed his wife the seltzer, and kissed her gently on the forehead. He said something to her with soft gestures, and she smiled faintly before slumping back into her seat. Then, as if nothing had happened, he started walking toward Y/N again. Shyness crept over her face, heat rising to her cheeks. She felt both embarrassed at how she’d misread the situation, and painfully aware of how impossibly drawn she still was to him.
