"Ah, here goes another one."
Kim Dokja looked at the older man lying on the bed beside him. The older man's heart had stopped. Maybe his heart did too.
"It's such a shame, that you died too."
The faint scent of blood in the air made his throat ache. He looked away.
"But that's alright. I'll find myself another friend."
Kim Dokja left the hospital room without a single glance back.
He wandered around the dark streets, looking at the shining moon. The moonlight always felt kinder to him than the sun ever did.
He thought about the older man, he quickly disposed the thought. He didn't even deserve to remember him anymore. He was gone.
Just like everybody else.
It was his fault anyway. For not telling him the truth, maybe he could've lived a little longer.
He was too selfish.
Maybe he wanted to become one like him too? Maybe he wanted him to die with him? But Kim Dokja never accepted, and the man never asked.
Maybe it was because of fate, maybe because he was just cursed.
Kim Dokja didn’t ask for this. To live while everyone else rotted away. To watch hearts stop while his own refused to beat.
As Kim Dokja became friends with whoever he could find, he watched them grow, live, and die.
But he was always left behind.
He grew too, he lived too. But he never went with them at last. He watched, just like he always did.
Not like there was anything else he could do.
He didn't hate them, how could someone like him even hate someone? Someone low like him, hating on somebody who's much more higher than him..
That would be embarrassing for them.
You see, he actually didn't pity himself. He simply just pitied them.
They grew and pass away. They spent their whole years spending nothing.
But Kim Dokja here, he can't die. But he can't experience growing up again.
And that's the thing that bothers him.
He couldn't do anything.
He could just make new friends.
And he kept on trying and trying and trying and trying..
But, he just couldn't find someone that stays.
Even so, at the end of the day, he still tried to make new friends.
Why? Because there would be someone talking about him, remembering him..
You might think he wanted to became popular, but that's not it too.
Even if Kim Dokja thinks lowly of himself,
Kim Dokja just wants somebody to remember him as a good person.
Because he knows that he isn't a good person, he just wants people to think of him like that.
So he could let go of this pitiful past, that everybody pities.
And that's why he doesn't pity himself.
There's already the whole world pitying him.
Kim Dokja didn’t know what was worse.
The thirst, or the years it forced him to endure.
Being a vampire was never the curse.
Living was.
