Chapter Text
The author’s note about being on indefinite hiatus stared back at Ricky as he frantically refreshed the page, hoping that a new chapter would appear. He had been mainlining a romance web-comic, the type which keeps you hooked and stay up all night reading. The comic was right at the good part, the moment when the two love interests were finally going to confess to each other after weeks of miscommunication when Ricky saw the author’s note about going on hiatus. Desperation and curiosity got the best of him and Ricky messaged the author to give the readers another few chapters.
rinini520: mangolover123 please come back the kids miss you
rinini520: PLEASE we NEED to know what happens next COME BACKK
It was the middle of the night and Ricky wasn’t expecting an answer from the author at all but, surprisingly, the author replied back as soon as Ricky messaged them.
mangolover123: so sorry rinini520 but i dont think i can carry on with this. this comic is inspired about my partner who i love dearly but they have been so cold to me and have been talking constantly about another person recently. im so scared that they are going to leave me. i feel like dying. i have no motivation to draw anymore. sorry again.
Ricky absolutely had to do something to save his favourite fictional couple from ceasing to exist. So, he lied. Conjuring up all his confidence, Ricky typed back.
rinini520: wait marriage issues. you’re in luck, im a marriage counsellor. the best one in the area. give me your number and i’ll help you strengthen your relationship with your partner, i promise.
Obviously, Ricky was the furthest person away from being a marriage counsellor but it worked. The author seemed so grateful and immediately sent their number to him.He typed the number into his phone and, when he was about to message the author, Ricky saw their contact photo. A small Italian greyhound. The same Italian greyhound of Ricky’s arrogant and distant husband. The same man who made a contract with him after their wedding. Him and Ricky would be happily married on paper only but, the reality was completely different. They would live separate lives under the same roof. They would not interfere with each other and live with total distance, only interacting if necessary.
The realisation dawned upon Ricky. His husband and his favourite comic’s author were the same person. And, to make things worse, Ricky was the cold and heartless partner who is preventing him from continuing the comic because his husband is scared that he will leave him.
