Work Text:

🌳

“Are you sure you want to go out? We can just stay at home. I’m sure that everyone will understand. I can keep you safe here.” Seokjin mutters into Namjoon’s neck, his nose pressed up against Namjoon’s scent gland, greedily inhaling his scent.

Namjoon scoffs, “Yeobo, I’m pregnant, not sick. I can manage ‌dinner with our friends. It’s been so long since we’ve seen them. And you cannot expect me to remain home for the remainder of my pregnancy.” He rolls his eyes as he extracts himself from his mate’s arms. “Come on, we’re going to be late.”

Seokjin whines, “But Joon—”

“Don’t Joon me, quit your alpha posturing already!”

Namjoon watches his mate lovingly as he continues to grumble, moving about their apartment. His hand goes to his still flat stomach, marveling that they created a life there. It’s still new— too new. Like they only found out this week-new. They haven’t even been to see the doctor yet, that appointment is set for next week.

But the stick that he peed on confirmed the pregnancy. Plus, deep down inside, a part of him already knew. Call it ‘omega’ intuition or whatever. Soon his hands are joined by his mate’s, both pairs of hands splayed across his stomach.

“Are you ready, then?”

Namjoon takes one of Seokjin’s hands into his own, lacing their fingers together. Hand in hand, they walk out of their apartment and into the cool spring air. The weather is absolutely gorgeous for a walk to the barbecue place. Thankfully they live close, and it’s only a 20 minute or so journey.

Upon their arrival, they spot their friends already seated at a table in the back corner, surrounded by platters of food. Namjoon notices that Yoongi and Jungkook were already manning the grill. Jimin, like always, is trying to steal bites, Yoongi smacks his hand away every time.

“Oh, look— the lovebirds finally decided to arrive.” Hoseok teases, a large smile on his face.

“Hyungs! It took you long enough!” Taehyung springs up from where he is sitting, pulling out the empty chairs at the end, gesturing towards them to sit.

“Thanks Taehyung-ah,” Namjoon murmurs as he takes a seat. Seokjin makes sure to stick close to him, throwing his arm along the back of the chair and scooting in close. Namjoon has to smack him when Seokjin lets out a low growl when Taehyung leans in close, not liking the young alpha being so near.

Taehyung arches his eyebrows in surprise but scoots back. “Everything okay, Jin hyung?”

“Sorry, Taehyung-ah—” Namjoon glares at his mate, “I don’t know what is going on with him.”

Seokjin at least has the decency to look chastened, quickly apologizing before throwing out a terrible pun, causing the table to roar in laughter. It seems to set things back on the right track. Soon he is nagging Yoongi and Jungkook about their grilling ability before taking over the tongs himself.

At first, Namjoon was fine, smiling and carrying on with the rest of them, but then the smell of the sizzling meat hit his nose and suddenly he wasn’t as fine. His stomach started to roll and churn as the nausea crept in.

Logically, Namjoon knew what was happening, but he couldn’t quite understand why. In the last month and a half, he had been in other barbecue joints without any issues. Hell, Seokjin just grilled meat at home the other night. So why was today any different?

Then he saw it, the fish fillets and shrimp prawns that Jungkook had added to the grill, and his stomach turned even more. Namjoon tolerates seafood, it’s not something he will willingly eat, but his friends enjoy it. But now that he is pregnant, the smell of cooking seafood is absolutely repulsive to him.

“You good over there, Joon-ah?” Yoongi has his head tilted to the side as his cat-like eyes assess him.

Namjoon brings his hand to his nose, covering it, blocking out some of the food. “Just the seafood,” he mumbles.

Jimin quickly elbows Jungkook in the side, hissing, “You know that Joonie hyung doesn’t like seafood, why did you order it?”

“He’s never minded before,” Jungkook pouts, “It’s not that bad, is it, hyung?” He looks over at him, his large eyes wide and his lower lip puffed out.

Namjoon doesn’t want to hurt the younger omega’s feelings. He is sure that the nausea will pass soon. “It’s fine, Jungkook-ah, promise.” Namjoon is lying through his teeth because it is anything but fine. The entire time Jungkook has the seafood on the grill, Namjoon keeps his nose and mouth covered.

Thankfully once it's cooked, the smell doesn’t bother him as much. It’s still unpleasant, but he manages. Especially with Seokjin right beside him, the scent of his mate helps keep some of the nausea at bay, but it's still there, lingering.

It takes a little effort, but Namjoon is able to eat some. He tried a bite of the pork belly, but it made his stomach turn a little, so did the other cuts of meat. Finally, he just decides to stick with rice and banchan, his stomach seems able to handle those without issues.

But it also doesn’t help that Taehyung keeps putting pieces of meat on his plate, as do some of the others. It’s natural for them to share among each other, and it would be strange if Namjoon refused. However, his mate picks up on it quickly, stealthily stealing the pieces of meat away and putting them on his own plate.

Namjoon is able to hold it together for the rest of the dinner, and he must do a good job because none of his friends seem to suspect anything is going on. Outside ‌the restaurant, they say their goodbyes. Joining hands with his mate once again, they take off back home.

“What was going on with you back there?” Seokjin inquires, concern on his face.

“I guess our little one has decided they don’t like the smell of meat. Jungkookie with the seafood really set it off, the nausea eased up some after it was off the grill, but then anytime I took a bite of other meats it would come back a little.”

“How are you feeling now?” Seokjin unlinks their hands, instead opting to throw his arm around Namjoon’s shoulders and pulling him in close, scenting him softly.

“Your scent really helped,” Namjoon rests his arm along Seokjin’s waist and they continue the rest of the way home pressed up close to one another.

Once they arrived, however, Namjoon insisted that they were both in need of a shower. The smoke from the barbecue place was lingering on their clothes too much for his liking. And well, what happened next— you can use your imagination.

The next morning finds Namjoon with his head in the toilet, emptying the contents of his stomach. Seokjin is crouched down at his side, running a soothing hand over his back, letting out some of his scent, which helps push some of the nausea away.

Namjoon groans as he sits back on his heels. He was really hoping to avoid this part— the dreaded morning sickness. It absolutely hates this feeling, but he keeps reminding himself that it will be worth it.

“I’ll go brew some ginger tea, it’s supposed to help with nausea. Do you think you can keep anything else down?”

He shakes his head before lurching forward as another bout hits him. Namjoon can feel Seokjin hesitating, but he waves his hand, signaling his mate to go.

After some time, he slowly makes his way to the kitchen where a cup of steaming ginger tea is awaiting him. He tentatively takes a sip before taking another as his stomach finally starts to settle. Seokjin sits down close beside him.

The text tone for their friend group chat goes off, his mate pulls his phone out of his pocket.

[Yoongi]
anyone else feeling ill today?
Jimin was up most the night sicker than a dog
And I remembered Namjoonie was looking queasy

[Seokjin]
Joonie has been ill as well

[Hoseok]
Pretty sure they were the only ones that ate that one thing

[Taehyung]
Oh!
I bet they have food poisoning!

“Yeobo— you know that I don’t have food poisoning!”

“Aish— but they don’t know that. Let them think what they want. We will tell them in due time. After we go to the doctor, and all that.”

Namjoon rolls his eyes fondly as he takes another drink of his tea.

[Yoongi]
that must be it…

[Jungkook]
Well I hope Jimin-ssi and Namjoonie hyung feel better soon!

[Taehyung]
same!

[Hoseok]
Fluids and rest!

“You feeling any better?”

Namjoon takes a moment to take inventory of himself. The queasiness and nausea finally seem to be gone. “I feel a lot better. The tea and maybe even your scent helped.

“Then I’ll just make sure to scent you and make you tea every day.”

Buddha— he really hit the jackpot when he mated Seokjin.

🌳🌳

They finally reached the 12-week mark and survived the first trimester! Namjoon is assessing himself in the mirror, his t-shirt pulled up as his hands poke and pinch at his soft but still flat belly. Soon, the familiar presence of his mate appears, as Seokjin hooks his head over Namjoon’s shoulder and splays his hands wide over Namjoon’s stomach.

“What are you doing, Jagi?”

“Checking on our pup’s progress. You know they are the size of a lime now! A lime, yeobo.”

Seokjin chuckles as he nuzzles in Namjoon’s neck, scenting him softly. Namjoon tilts back his head, taking it all in. His mate’s scent does wonders with his nausea and morning sickness, but luckily in the last week or so it finally went away. But this has become their little routine now, and Namjoon doesn’t want to change a thing.

“You are comparing our little darling to fruit now?”

“You are the one who had the dream of us surrounded by all kinds of different fruit trees. So don’t be getting on me about my fruit analogy.”

“Fruit trees— trees— Namu— we can call the pup that.” Seokjin’s hands give his stomach a little squeeze, “Our little Namu.”

Namjoon didn’t think he would like the little nickname as much as he did but it makes everything feel a little more real. “Oh—” His head looks down to his stomach where their hands are, “Hi Namu-yah, we cannot wait to meet you.”

They stand there together, taking everything in. Basking in the glow of ‘naming’ their pup and just being together.

“Are you almost ready, jagi? We need to leave soon if we want to make it in time.”

It’s that time of month again— another outing planned with their friends. This time they are keeping it simple and hanging out at Jimin and Yoongi’s place for some movies and game night.

“Can you scent the blue hoodie over there on the chair before we go?” He points over to the corner. “I want to wear it.”

Namjoon doesn’t need to explain any further, Seokjin is already well aware of the effect his scent has on Namjoon, as he walks over to thoroughly scent the hoodie. Plus all the pregnancy blogs and books they’ve been reading confirm that having the alpha’s scent near is essential for good healthy pup development.

Soon after they leave the apartment, and of course, they are one of the last ones to arrive. Which they get teased about once again.

“Jeez, Jin hyung— You’ve all but soaked Namjoon in your scent, I can barely smell him. And I love Joonie’s scent,” Hoseok whines. “I don’t want your stinky alpha scent.” The beta sticks out his tongue for good measure.

“I’ll show you stinky alpha!” And then the chase is on. Namjoon shakes his head as he fondly watches his mate chase their friend around Jimin and Yoongi’s apartment. Some things never ‌change.

“You really do smell like Jinnie hyung.” Jungkook appears at his side, leaning in to sniff.

“What were you two up to before you came over here?” Jimin waggles his eyebrows for good measure.

“Eww— I don’t want to hear about that!” Jungkook cries, covering his ears and going “La, la, la,” to block out Jimin’s teasing.

While the two are teasing each other and the attention is off of him, Namjoon thankfully slips away. Entering the living room, he finds that Taehyung has joined the fray as Seokjin and Tae aggressively scent Hoseok, the beta crying on the floor in laughter.

Namjoon loves that their friend group functions as a small pack‌. Casually scenting each other and helping out when needed. Seokjin and he have been together since the beginning of college, as well as Yoongi. The three of them, fast friends. Then Yoongi met Jimin which brought Taehyung and Jungkook into their fray. And when Seokjin reunited with his childhood friend Hoseok, well, the rest is history.

“Will you guys cut it out already,” Yoongi mumbles from the doorway, “You are stinking up my living room with all your alphaness. And don’t you even think about coming near me!” He warns when he notices Taehyung advancing his way. “Keep your scents to yourself!”

“Food is here!” Jungkook and Jimin yell out together, distracting the alphas from their ‘attack’.

All of them make their way to the kitchen, filling their plates with fried chicken and their beverages of choice before returning to the living room. The lot of them scattered about, finding seats while Yoongi queued up the tv. The plan for the night is to watch a movie while eating then play a game afterwards.

“Huntrix! Huntrix! Huntrix!” Can be heard chanting from the tv as the movie starts.

Namjoon watches with rapt attention. His eyes welling up with tears more times than he can count. It’s just so sad and beautiful all at the same time. His feelings are all over the place. And by the end of the movie he is full blown sobbing.

“You okay, Namjoon hyung?” Jungkook asks warily, his eyes wide as he holds out a tissue.

The pregnant omega grabs it and noisily blows his nose. “It’s just so sad,” he cries. “They sealed the Honmoon, but at what cost? Jinu and Rumi should be together!”

While he is crying into his hand, he misses the confused looks that pass between his friends. Namjoon isn’t normally one to get emotional like this.

“Is he okay?” Hoseok whispers.

“Is Namjoonie hyung sick or something?” Jimin questions.

Seokjin is soon at his side, pulling Namjoon to a stand, “Namu making you all sad?” Namjoon nods. “We’ll be right back guys, come on, jagi.”

The pair leave the living room and as soon as they are out of sight the whispers start.

“Namu?” The five friends mouth at each other as they look on in confusion.

“When did hyung start calling Namjoon that?”

“Well Namjoon is kinda built like a tree…” Hoseok says with a shrug of his shoulders, “So I guess it works.”

“But Namu?” Jimin asks in confusion, “That’s not a cute nickname to call your mate. Who wants to be called a tree?”

“Hey— every mateship is different,” Yoongi replies, “We don’t judge.”

“Let’s just act like we didn’t hear anything,” Taehyung reasons, “Maybe it’s something just for them.”

When Namjoon and Seokjin return to the living room, everything is different. They cleared away all the plates and trash, and the tv now shows Mario Kart.

“Sorry about that,” Namjoon supplies, his hand going to his stomach, “My emotions got the better of me.”

“Well, I for one am ready to kick Jungkookie’s ass in Mario Kart— once again.” Seokjin makes a beeline to the table, grabbing a controller.

“Oh, it’s on, hyung!”

Namjoon really thought he was recovered, but when Princess Peach went over the edge of the track, the sadness found him once again. The tears welling up in his eyes. Ugh— Why is he feeling this way! Trying not to bring attention to himself, he wipes at his eyes.

“Are you sure you’re okay, hyung? You’re crying again.”

Of course, Jimin would be the one to notice him.

“I’m fine, Jimin-ah. Promise.” Which just makes him tear up even more.

Seokjin looks over at him in concern, causing Prince Peach to drive off the road again. Namjoon promptly bursts into tears.

“I think we better be going.” Seokjin sets down the controller on the table. “Come on, jagi. Let’s get you home.”

They say their goodbyes to their friends before heading out, Namjoon sniffling the entire time. When they are in the elevator, Seokjin turns to him.

“What was all that in there?”

“Peach kept on dying,” Namjoon blubbers as he starts crying again. “Namu didn’t like it.”

Seokjin pulls Namjoon into his arms, soothing him. “Oh— my poor dear. Once we get home, I think a nice bath is in order.”  Between sniffles and tears, Namjoon nods his head with a small smile. Seokjin just seems to always know what he needs.

🌳🌳🌳

Summer has arrived, and of course the city is going through a heat wave at the same time Namu finally decided to pop. It’s not a very big ‘pop,’ but Namjoon can tell there is a slight swell to his stomach now plus his cheeks are looking a little puffier. He twists his body side to side as he looks himself over in the mirror, playing his shirt taunt against his stomach before releasing it.

“What size is Namu now?” Seokjin asks as he comes up behind him, their eyes locking together in the mirror.

“Sweet potato or a grapefruit.” Namjoon’s eyes light up, “Yeobo! Can we get some sweet potatoes and grapefruit! That sounds so delicious right now.” He licks his lips in anticipation, “Oh— and whipped cream!”

Seokjin takes the requests in stride, “Well, I don’t think we have any of that here, Jagi.” Namjoon pouts. “But I can run to the store and get some. Do you want to come with me?”

“Please.”

Even though it’s a heat wave, Namjoon is always freezing. Wearing a pair of sweatpants with an oversized sweater, making sure the sleeves cover his hands. While Seokjin is dressed in a pair of shorts with a light t-shirt. They are really quite a contrasting pair.

As soon as they leave their apartment building, Seokjin is already sweating, while Namjoon pulls the sweater tighter around him. It’s a quick walk to the small store near their house. At first, Seokjin grabs a basket, but Namjoon keeps finding more and more things that he wants, so he goes back to get a cart.

“Hyung?” Namjoon turns around from where he had been debating on what kind of pickles to get to see Taehyung standing there, Hoseok and Jungkook behind him.

“Hi guys.” At the same time Seokjin returns with a cart and, tired of debating, Namjoon puts both jars of pickles in.

“Wow,” Jungkook murmurs, his eyes wide as he takes in everything in the cart. Sweet potatoes, grapefruit, whipped cream, almonds, honey, kimchi, shrimp chips, crackers and more. “That’s… quite a spread.”

“Well, Namu has some cravings,” Seokjin murmurs. “So what are you guys up to?”

Namjoon misses the looks his friends exchange at the mention of ‘Namu,’ because he wanders off before he can hear them answer. He has detected a delectable scent as he lets his nose guide him to find it. There he finds an ahjumma handing out samples of ramen. His stomach lets out a growl as he gets near. Namjoon holds out his hands expectedly, excitedly bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet. He slurps at the small amount of noodles happily. Oh— he definitely needs some of this as well.

“There you are.” He feels Seokjin come up beside him. “I take it you want some of these noodles too?” Namjoon nods his head. Seokjin lets out a sigh but adds two packages to the cart. “Jagi— I don’t think we can take anything more. Remember, we didn’t bring the car, and we’ll have to carry all this home.”

“Oh— okay,” Namjoon cannot help the tears that appear in his eyes.

“Ahh— Jagi, don’t cry. We can come back anytime and restock.” Seokjin pulls him into a hug, “Let’s take what we got now and go feed Namu, okay? Come on.”

He lets his mate lead him to the checkout. Seokjin insists on carrying all the bags out, his arms full. Namjoon tries to take one but the alpha won’t hear it. As they are leaving the store, they run into their friends again.

“Aren’t you hot in that, Namjoon,” Hoseok asks, already fanning himself.

“I feel fine— I’m actually quite cold.” Namjoon is sure if this were a cartoon, his friends' eyes would be bulging out of their heads right about now. But all Namjoon can focus on at the moment is getting back home and eating. “Namu is hungry, we gotta go. See ya guys next week.”

“Yeah...”

“Okay…”

“Bye guys…”

Namjoon and Seokjin take off back to their apartment, leaving their friends standing there staring at them, eyes wide.

“Why is it so hot?” Seokjin groans as he sets the bags down on the counter. Taking his arm to wipe the sweat off his brow. “And how is it that you are not even sweating?”

The omega shrugs, “It’s not that hot,” he reasons. “Now give me my food.” Namjoon makes ‘give me’ hands towards the bags on the counter.

Seokjin sighs as he shakes his head, pulling out the sweet potatoes, grapefruit and whipped cream, pushing them over to Namjoon. The sweet potato is still warm from the oven at the market when he pulls it out of the bag. He carefully splits it apart before adding a dollop of whipped cream, but then he glares at the grapefruit.

“Yeobo— I need you to cut it for me,” he whines. “I need to put it on top of the whipped cream. Please. Can you do it? Like right now?”

“You want to eat all of it together? I thought you were going to eat them separately.”

Namjoon can feel the tears starting to form again at the judgement.

“Aish— none of that. No tears. Give it here and I’ll get it sliced up for you.”

Namjoon dances in place happily, placing the first slice of grapefruit on his sweet potato–whipped cream concoction. Moaning slightly when the first taste hits his mouth.

“Oh— this is so good.” He takes another bite and then another until it is all gone, rubbing his full stomach in happiness. He looks over to see Seokjin staring at him in stunned awe.

“Do you want more?”

He shakes his head, “I think I’m good for now. But what I could go for is a foot rub?” Namjoon asks sweetly.

“You’re spoiled, you know that,” Seokjin says, throwing up his hands and heading to the living room. Namjoon follows close behind and plops his feet onto Seokjin’s lap once they reach the couch.

“You’re the one who spoils me. So whose fault is it, really?” Namjoon reclines back and finds himself slowly nodding off as his alpha rubs his feet.

🌳🌳🌳🌳

Namjoon is putting together the final touches of his outfit. A pair of cargo pants with an oversized black sweater. The outfit is non-constricting and extremely comfortable. The thought of wearing tight clothing makes him cringe. Don’t get him wrong, he loves being pregnant and showing off his now present bump when he can, but he likes being comfortable more.

As the months changed, the weather‌ cooled down significantly. A hint of autumn in the air, signaling the start of the birthday celebrations. It’s been a tradition in their friend group to celebrate every single birthday, and over the years it has just been easier to celebrate Jungkook’s and Namjoon’s together. Choosing a weekend in between the two.

“It’s time to go, are you ready?” Namjoon hears Seokjin yell from the living room.

“Coming!” He takes one final look at himself in the mirror. Satisfied with what he sees, he gives himself a nod before heading out, making sure to grab his trusty beanie on the way.

“Ah— there’s the birthday boy.” Seokjin exclaims with a grin, pulling Namjoon in for a kiss.

“It’s not my birthday yet,” Namjoon mumbles against his lips.

“Doesn’t matter, we are celebrating it today.” Seokjin places his hands on Namjoon’s stomach at the same time Namu suddenly decides to make their presence known. “What?!” Seokjin backs away in shock, “What the hell was that?”

Namjoon giggles. He, of course, has been feeling Namu’s little flutters, kicks, for weeks now. However, they haven’t been strong enough for Seokjin to feel yet. Well— until now.

“I guess Namu decided they wanted to say hi to their Appa today.” Namjoon reaches for Seokjin’s hand, placing it back on his stomach, where Namu gives it another kick. Seokjin’s eyes widen in wonder as he moves his hand around chasing Namu’s kicks until they tire out. Namjoon laughs the entire time.

“Come on, yeobo— now we’re definitely running late.”

“They were kicking, Namjoon-ah! And I could feel it! Like hell I was going to let that opportunity pass.” Seokjin drops to his knees, pressing kisses to Namjoon’s stomach and thoroughly scenting it. “Alright, now we can go.”

When they finally make it to Hoseok, Taehyung and Jungkook’s apartment, the party already looks to be in full force. Drinks are flowing, while a myriad of people socialize throughout the apartment. With the influx of new people, Namjoon can tell that Seokjin’s alpha is on edge. When Seokjin insists on pressing in close to him and keeping a hand on his low back at all times, Namjoon doesn’t utter any complaints. His omega actually preens at having such a thoughtful alpha.

“Hyung! You’re here!” The next thing he knows, his arms are full of Jungkook, as the omega smothers him in a hug. “It’s our birthday! Here, put this on!” Seemingly out of nowhere, Jungkook produces a crown, placing it atop of Namjoon’s head. “Now to get you a drink! I’ll be right back.”

After Jungkook ran off, their other friends appeared. Each throwing their arms around them in various states of inebriation, shouting their ‘Hellos’ and ‘Happy Birthdays.’ When Jungkook reappears, he places a whisky highball in Namjoon’s hand. Which only serves to confuse Namjoon.

“Ah— Jungkook-ah you know that Joonie can’t have that right now?” Seokjin takes the glass out of Namjoon’s hand, pressing back into Jungkook’s.

“Namjoon isn’t drinking?” Jimin asks incredulously, “But it’s his birthday!”

“He’s abstaining from alcohol right now, you know, because of Namu.” Namjoon misses the way that Hoseok and Yoongi look at each other, mouthing ‘Namu,’ in confusion. “When everything’s all said and done, I’m sure he’ll be ready to have a drink.”

“Oh— okay,” Jungkook still looks confused but doesn’t try to argue, meekly accepting back the drink, “Sorry.”

Namjoon doesn’t want the younger omega to be sad, “It’s alright, Jungkook-ah, could you get me a bottle of water?”

“Yeah— sure thing, hyung.” Jungkook hurries off, Taehyung and Jimin following close behind.

“So, are you not drinking too?” Yoongi asks Seokjin.

“Yep,” he says with a sharp nod of his head. “I’m not drinking either.”

“Because of Namu?” Hoseok asks.

“That’s right,” Seokjin places his hand on Namjoon’s stomach.

Yoongi and Hoseok look at each other in confusion but don’t say another word. Namjoon thinks nothing of it— those two have been drinking after all.

Seeing a familiar face he hasn’t seen in a while, Namjoon excuses himself and Seokjin. “Ah— Namjoon! I was hoping to see you! It’s been too long!” Strong arms surround him in a tight hug.

“Jackson—” Seokjin growls.

The alpha lets go of Namjoon with a roll of his eyes, facing Seokjin, “I’m not making the moves on your pregnant mate.” Jackson turns his attention to Namjoon. “Congratulations by the way,” before turning back to Seokjin, “so calm down, old man.”

Namjoon elbows his mate, “Thanks Jackson, how could you tell?”

“Easy, you have a glow about you and your mate is acting like a territorial jackass,” he holds up his hands, “No offense.”

“None taken.” However, Seokjin does not stop glaring at Jackson.

“So when is the little one arriving?” Jackson asks Namjoon, ignoring Seokjin.

“December.”

“Do you know what you’re having yet?”

“No,” Namjoon says with a smile, his hand going to his stomach, “We want it to be a surprise. As long as they are healthy, we are happy.”

“I’m so excited for you guys. Close your eyes again, old man, I’m gonna give your mate a hug again, whether you like it or not.”

“Just be careful, not too hard or anything,” Seokjin grumbles before pointedly turning away with his eyes closed.

Jackson pulls Namjoon into a not so tight hug, “Congratulations again, Namjoon. And happy birthday,” he whispers into his ear before stepping back. “The coast is clear, old man.” Seokjin turns back around. “It was good seeing you two, but I got to run. We’ll have to do lunch sometime soon! Bye!”

“Why was Jackson hugging you so much?” Jimin asks, appearing out of nowhere, startling Namjoon, his hand going to his heart.

“Jimin-ah! Be careful,” Seokjin admonishes.

“Jackson was just happy to hear about Namu, that’s all.”

Jimin’s brows furrow, but Namjoon thinks nothing of it because at the same moment he is being called into the dining room to blow out the candles on his cake with Jungkook.

The rest of the night passes with little fanfare. Namjoon eats his fill and gets enough people-watching time in to last him a lifetime, or so it feels like. But as the night progresses, he can feel his social battery depleting, his eyes growing heavy.

“I think it’s time to get you home, jagi,” Seokjin murmurs in his ear. “Let’s say goodbye to our friends and get going.”

They find their friends scattered throughout the apartment, telling them each goodbye and Namjoon thanking them for the joint party.

Arriving back to their apartment, Seokjin ushers Namjoon into the shower, joining him shortly after. Namjoon knows that his mate wants to get all the strange scents from the party washed off of them. Then, Seokjin helps him into his pajamas and gets him all tucked into bed. Cuddling up behind him, he slides one arm over Namjoon’s waist, hand resting on Namjoon’s belly as his nose presses up against the back of Namjoon’s neck, softly letting out his scent.

🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳

They are officially in the home stretch! Less than a month and their little Namu will finally be here! Namjoon for one, cannot wait. It feels like he has ‘blown up’ overnight, his ankles constantly swollen and an ache in his low back that just won’t go away. Even though they are near the end, there are still a lot of things they need to get done in preparation for the arrival of Namu.

The most important thing— getting the nursery ready. The last couple of weeks, they spent the time clearing out one of their spare rooms, getting rid of all the things they didn’t need. Now it just needs to be painted before all the nursery furniture arrives next week.

Somehow, Seokjin was able to persuade their friends to come over and help. It might have something to do with the promise of some homemade naengmyeon. But it really doesn’t matter how he got them to agree, the point is that he got them to agree, and that is what matters.

Soon all of their friends arrive and Seokjin puts them to work. His mate is going to make sure that they earn that homemade naengmyeon. Namjoon attempts to peer in at the progress when he can, but as soon as Seokjin lays eyes on him, he gives Namjoon a stern look. Earlier, he explicitly told Namjoon he doesn’t want him around the paint fumes, it's not good for the pup.

Namjoon does get a glimpse of the sage green on the walls before he is told to get out. As he is leaving, he hears Jungkook ask.

“Why can’t Namjoonie hyung help?”

“Namu can’t be around the fumes,” Seokjin says like it is common sense and that he’s not quite sure why Jungkook is even asking that question.

Feeling a little useless, Namjoon tries to be helpful where he can. He sets out cups and bowls for the food. Even going as far to put a small snack tray together. Once the walls are painted, the group takes a slight break. Each of them thanking Namjoon for the snacks and cider as they sit around the kitchen.

“Thanks, jagi,” Seokjin presses a kiss to his temple, his hand brushing Namjoon’s stomach briefly. “The walls just need a second coat then once that dries, we can add the decal and shelves later tonight.”

“It’s best to let the paint settle,” Yoongi chimes in, “If you are going to be hanging anything, I would wait a day or two.”

Seokjin groans.

“A day or two won’t make that much of a difference, yeobo. Namu won’t mind if we wait.” Namjoon reassures his mate, knowing that he wants to get everything done as soon as possible. “We have time.”

“I just want everything to be perfect.”

As the mated pair are staring into each other’s eyes, they miss the silent conversation going on among their friends at the mention of ‘Namu.’ Their eyes growing wide as they gesture at one another.

“Well, I think the walls should be dried by now.” Seokjin says before pressing a final kiss on Namjoon’s temple. “Let’s get this second coat done, then we can eat the naengmyeon.”

Working like a well oiled machine, they get the second coat on the walls in no time. Trying to be stealthy, Namjoon sneaks another peek and loves how deep the green on the walls appears. He cannot believe that is going to be the room that his pup grows up in. In his mind’s eye, he can already imagine how the room will look when it is fully furnished.

They plan to hang up a white tree decal along the long wall. At the end of its branches will be several white shelves. He plans to fill those with a couple photo frames, stuffed animals and some books. The crib will be along the same wall as the tree. A rocking chair will be over in the corner with a white bookshelf near it. Namjoon cannot wait to rock his pup to sleep and read them bedtime stories.

Feeling a little overwhelmed, he places his hand to his belly where Namu is kicking him, “Soon you will be here, little one. I cannot wait to meet you.”

“Who are you talking to, hyung?” Namjoon spins around to see Jimin looking at him with a tilt of his head.

“Oh— just Namu,” he replies with a smile. “How is everything going in there? Almost done?”

“Yep, Yoongi hyung and Jinnie Hyung are putting the finishing touches on the trim. While Hobi hyung finishes painting the shelves white.”

“Thank you so much, Jimin-ah, you don’t know how much we appreciate everything.” At that moment, Namu kicks him in the bladder, causing him to wince. “If you’ll excuse me.” Namjoon quickly hurries off to the bathroom. Unaware of the strange look ‌Jimin gives him as he leaves.

Once everything is painted, and everyone has eaten their fill. It’s time to call it a day. Namjoon tries to be helpful and gather the dishes, but Seokjin waves him off, saying that he will handle it later. He was already a little irate that Namjoon had gotten them out earlier. Namjoon isn’t the most graceful after all and has been known to break a dish or two.

As their friends leave, Namjoon makes sure to ‌thank each of them personally. Who knows how long it would’ve taken to get everything painted if they were not here. He is so grateful to them.

Taehyung is the last to leave, and as Namjoon is closing the door, he hears the alpha ask, “Do you think Namjoonie hyung has put on weight? His cheeks have gotten a lot rounder.”

Namjoon shakes his head in amusement at the question. What a silly thing to ask, it would be strange if he didn’t put on any weight, he is a pregnant omega after all.

“What has you smiling like that?” Seokjin asks, noticing the grin on Namjoon’s face.

“I just heard something funny, that's all. Can I see the room now? I’m tired of sneaking peeks from the hallway.”

Seokjin checks his watch, “Well, it should be dry by now. And I’ve had fans running, so the fumes shouldn’t be too bad.” His mate holds out his hand, and Namjoon takes it.

He can feel tears welling up in his eyes when he gets a closer look at the room. It’s everything and more.

“Oh, yeobo— it’s perfect. Absolutely perfect.” Namjoon leans into Seokjin’s side. “Namu is going to love it, I just know it.”

🎄🍼👶

Ten little fingers.

Ten little toes.

One cute little button nose.

Namjoon cannot help but stare at the pup in his arms, he cannot believe that Hansol is finally here, their perfect little ‘tree.’

Hansol arrived a little bit earlier than planned but he was healthy and thriving. Thankfully they had just got done putting the finishing touches on the nursery when Namjoon’s water broke. And best of all, he had arrived before their annual Christmas Bash.

Last minute, Seokjin was able to change the invite, making the tagline, “We’re expecting something new at the Christmas party this year!”

The omega thought it was a clever play on words, especially since he wasn’t due until after Christmas. It would be a nice little surprise for their friends that Hansol was early.

“How are the two best things to ever happen to me doing?”

Namjoon looks up to see Seokjin in the doorway to the nursery. A fond smile on his face.

“Well I just need to feed this little tree and get him changed and we’ll be good to go. Is everything ready out there?”

“Yep— I have all the food trays and drinks out. The living room and kitchen are decorated.” Seokjin looks down at this watch. “They should be arriving anytime now.” They both freeze when they hear the doorbell sound. “And there they are. I’ll go let them in while you finish up in here.”

“Thanks, Yeobo.”

Namjoon settles into the rocking chair, getting comfortable before lifting up his shirt. Hansol is already a pro and latches on without any difficulty. Namjoon gently rocks them back and forth as Hansol feeds, marveling that he is really here— after carrying him for nine months, his pup is finally here.

Once Hansol has eaten his fill, Namjoon places him on his shoulder, patting him on his back until he lets out a loud burp. Next, it’s time to change Hansol before placing him in his outfit for the party. It may be a little corny, but Namjoon loves the red and white pinstripe leggings they got him, with the green top making their pup look like a little elf.

Holding Hansol in his arms, Namjoon finally makes his way out to the living room where he can hear his friends talking loudly and carrying on. At first no one notices him as he enters, but then Jimin lets out a loud yell as the glass from his hand crashes to the ground.

“Geez, Jimin-ah, you haven’t even had a full drink yet what the hell?” Yoongi turns to his mate to ask.

Jimin just holds out his hand, pointing towards Namjoon. “Pup— Namjoon is holding a pup.”

“Say what?” Jungkook exclaims as everyone turns their attention to Namjoon.

Seokjin stands from the couch, walking over to join Namjoon and Hansol.

“Guys, we want to officially introduce you to Kim Hansol.” Namjoon presents the pup in his arms, holding him up so everyone can see.

“What?”

“How?”

“Huh?”

All of their friends look at the couple in confusion which just makes Namjoon confused.

“Hyung— where did you get the pup?” Taehyung finally asks.

“What do you mean where? Do you think Santa left him?” Namjoon asks incredulously. Are his friends on some type of hallucinogens right now?

“Hansol arrived a couple weeks early, it’s not that crazy guys,” Seokjin supplies.

“We get that the pup is Hansol, but how?” Hoseok asks, slowly standing from his seat to step closer. Side stepping the broken glass on the floor. They really should get that cleaned up before someone hurts themselves.

“How?” What do you mean how? Do I really need to explain to you how a pup is created?” Seokjin is shaking his head as he provides the answer.

“Just wait a minute,” Yoongi holds up his hand, silencing the room. “Are you telling us that you and Namjoon had a pup?” Yoongi points to them in turn as he speaks, they both nod their head yes. “Like had a pup… not adopt a pup?”

“Adopt? Why would you say that…?Namjoon exclaims but then the realization hits him. Did his friends really not know that he was pregnant? He looks at every single one of them, confusion in all of their faces. “Guys— you do realize I was pregnant the last nine months right?”

“WHAT?!?” Everyone exclaims at once.

“Seriously??” Seokjin asks, “You were all over here a couple weeks ago and helped paint the nursery.”

“That was the nursery!” Jungkook exclaims, “We thought you were just redoing the room. Hold on,” Jungkook holds out his hand, “Is that why you weren’t drinking at our birthday party?”

“Duh—” Namjoon retorts. “You’re not supposed to drink while pregnant. And since I couldn’t drink, Seokjin decided to stay sober with me in solidarity”

“Wait— you said it was because of Namu,” Jimin mutters, finally coming out of his shock, “What is Namu then?”

Namjoon holds up the pup in his arms. “Hansol is Namu.”

“Yeah— I had a dream when Joon was first pregnant. We were surrounded by all these different fruit trees, so we took to calling the pup Namu.” Seokjin looks around the room. “Did you guys seriously not know?” He turns to Namjoon next, “Did we not ever tell them?”

“Is that why Namjoonie hyung was GETTING FAT!” Taehyung exclaims, interrupting them before Namjoon could answer.

“I wouldn’t call it fat,” Namjoon replies, “but yes, I gained some weight because I was pregnant.” That would explain what happened a couple weeks ago, the comment about Namjoon’s weight that he overheard. Thinking back Namjoon can’t recall if they ever explicitly told their friends that they were expecting. “Yeobo— I don’t think we told them.”

Seokjin’s mouth forms a silent ‘o’ before turning to look back out at their friends. “Suprise!?” He says weakly.

The room erupts after that, everyone talking, exclaiming and throwing up their hands at once. It was quite a chaotic scene until Hansol begins to get fussy. The room immediately quiets down. Namjoon took charge after that— he would not have his pup upset.

“Yeobo, go get the broom and pan, clean up the broken glass before someone steps in it. Guys I’m sorry we didn’t tell you, we really just assumed that you knew. And now if you all can take your seats, I would love for Hansol to officially meet all his uncles,” Namjoon gives them a stern look, “but you must behave. Got it?”

Besides the initial surprise of the evening, the rest of it passes without much fanfare, well besides the excitement of meeting Hansol. The pup gets passed around to every one of his uncles, each taking great care when holding him. Declaring him the best pup in the world and that they couldn’t wait to spoil him rotten.

Namjoon’s heart has never felt fuller than in this moment.
