“It’s getting kind of windy up here,” Pepper commented, pulling her wrap closer. After taking her out to dinner. Tony said he had something special to show her back at the Tower. They then proceeded to take the service elevator all the way to the top of the building. Not the party deck, not their penthouse but the actual roof, nearly 900 feet above street level.
“Yeah, it is a bit nippy,” Tony admitted, whipping his suit jacket off and tossing it over her shoulders. “Guess I should have checked the weather forecast. Hope the plants are going to be okay.”
“Plants?” Pepper followed Tony around the corner of a massive HVAC unit to see a small gazebo, surrounded by pots of flowers.
Tony held his hands up and waved them in a celebratory gesture. “Surprise! I know you’ve been super-stressed out lately, so I thought creating a secret garden that only you and I know about might help. You can sneak up here between meetings, or even do some work. The wi-fi signal is great and I installed a waterproof outlet under the bench.”
“Tony, this is so sweet!” Pepper was touched by this unexpected show of thoughtfulness. “But there’s frost in the forecast tonight.”
“Oh.” Tony looked crestfallen.
“I think if we cover them with some sheets, they’ll be okay.” She took Tony’s hand. “Let’s go raid our linen closet.”
