Work Text:

You walk down the beach, taking in the salty air. You forgot how nice it is to walk along the beach or just get out of the house in general.
You find a nice spot, not too close to the lifeguard thankfully.
You shake your head, the last time you were close to one of the lifeguard towers... never again.
-
Bob throws the ball for Harmonious to bring it back. He smiles and pets him, “good boy.”
Harmonious licks his dad’s face in glee.
“Come on,” Bob pulls away and stands back up. “Ready, boy?”
He throws the ball, not realizing how far he threw it.
-
You flinch at something touching your side out of nowhere.
You set your book down and look, finding a ball beside you.
You furrow your brows, wondering whose ball it is- until a splash of gold fills your vision.
The dog curls itself into your lap, panting a bit.
You giggle, “well hello there.”
-
Bob’s eyes widened as soon as the ball had landed.
-
You pet the tired dog, softly talking to him (after checking his collar). “Who’s a good tired boy?”
“Oh- oh my god. I’m so sorry.”
You glance up at the nervous male and smile. “It’s okay. He just claims me as his mother is all,” you joke.
He blushes, “so, you're my wife?"
You hum, petting the golden panting pup in your lap. "Essentially yes. Unless you want to be a single father and lonely again."
"We're married, cool,” he jokes.
You laugh along with him, “I never knew it was this easy to pick up a guy.”
“Neither did I.” His chuckle disappears as he thinks about what he said. “I mean-”
“Oh, oh,” you double over, covering your face. “You- you,” you place a hand on his shoulder. “You are buying me a drink and we are going to keep talking. You just got a hell of a lot more interesting.”
