Work Text:
Sunny's eyelids were closed, but he was conscious and unable to move.
He felt an oppressive force was holding him to the mattress.
Suddenly, a visual distortion appeared in the corner of his eye, and his skin froze...
A familiar shape materialized in the room and slowly approached without making a sound.
The presence observed him with its narrowed white eyes and pale cheeks.
He trembled. He wanted to scream, but no sound would come out.
The shadow released a quiet, sorrow-tinged chuckle — Sunny always had that expression when looking at him…and, over time, he had somehow resigned himself to it.
But even so, Sunny seemed just as heartbreakingly endearing, even in this state.
-“Sunny~”- it whispered his name, barely audible, yet it still echoed in his ears.
Water began gathering in Sunny’s eyes, making Stranger shiver slightly, a sharp sadness pricked at his heart.
He slowly reached out his hand and caressed his cheek, wiping away the tears that welled up in his eyes — eyes that stared at him, petrified.
Why did he look at him that way now?
Why couldn’t he remember who he had been, and what they once were?
He remembered everything!
Sunny used to care for him so deeply—
running his fingers through his yellow hair adorned with a flower crown, Sunny seemed to adore seeing him wearing it
looking at him with a dazzling beautiful smile
holding his hand and calling him his best friend, his and his alone, pressing soft kisses to his cheek…his heart being squeezed by his affection.
but… all that somehow no longer existed.
He couldn't even be sure if his cherished memories ever belonged to the real world or the dream world…He wasn't even sure who he was anymore.
But Either way, they had happened, and he would treasure them forever.
-“...Sunny, you may not remember anymore, but at least understand this”-He gazed at Sunny’s with the ominous white gleam of his eyes-“My heart still longs for you.”
His hand traced its way gently to his chin, guiding Sunny to turn his head as he shivered under the cold touch, making him look at him for a brief moment before leaning in and pressing a soft kiss on his lips.
It was a gentle, feather-light kiss — the kind that made Sunny feel ticklish at the worst possible moment.
fleeting kissing sounds echoed ,barely audible, yet enough to make a slight blush creep over Sunny cheeks, while Stranger savored the sensation.
His lips was so warm… so faintly salted…
His heart wouldn’t stop racing, tempted to lean in for another kiss as he closed his eyes, lost in a sea of pleasant sensations he hadn’t felt in a long time. Sunny couldn’t help but let out a trembling sigh, squeezing his eyes shut — yet somehow, that only terrified him more. He opened them again suddenly—
and he was gone.
Had he really left?
Sunny trembled as he kept trying to move, but now every motion hurt — he couldn’t…
“...a—” he gasped, a strangled sound escaping him as he felt two cold arms wrap around him from behind.
Stranger was holding him, taking delight in his warmth, as he rested his head on Sunny’s shoulder.
Sunny was soft too~
“I’m not as frightening as you think,” Stranger whispered, a trace of sadness in his voice as he noticed Sunny couldn’t stop trembling. Wrapping his arms tighter around his waist, pressing closer to his back, he murmured-“I just wanted to be near you...again”
In that moment, he thought he didn’t need anything else — he felt at peace here. He wished time would stop and leave them like this forever. A faint, melancholy giggle escaped him and his face pale instead of flushed.
“I love you, Sunny~” he whispered into his ear, settling once more against his shoulder.
He knew he didn’t have much time left.
For some reason, only when Sunny heard those words did his trembling seem to stop — just for a second — as a strong heartbeat pulsed in his chest.
But when he tried to reach for the hands around his waist… there was nothing.
Sunny jolted upright in bed.
There was no one there
only the faint dampness on the shoulder of his shirt…
Had he been crying?
Sunny shook his head frantically from side to side.
No, no, no—
They were just his hallucinations again, right?
Then why did he feel so sad when this one, in particular, disappeared?
He felt lonely
And maybe… he was just stupid.
