Sakuya hates his life.
Ever since he overheard some of the wish staff talk about how affectionate his hyungs were with each other, he couldn’t stop noticing everytime Yushi melts into Jaehee, how Riku cannot stop saying that he likes Sion, and how Jaehee casts a spell on Sion, Riku and Yushi, making them giggle incessantly just by existing. It’s not like it’s wrong, Sakuya rationalises, it is just noticeable.
“Have we spent too much time away from boys our age?” He asks Ryo, who shrugs indifferently.
“Is it not normal for kpop idols to be affectionate with each other? It is part of fanservice after all.”
Sakuya doesn’t know what to say, and turns away to arrange his plushies. Whatever was going on with the four of them was definitely not normal.
When he falls asleep that night, he dreams of his group heading to the sauna for filming. His mind conjures images of sizzling pork belly, steaming hot white rice, and the saccharine smiles plastered on Yushi’s face as he watches Jaehee grill the pork belly.
Sakuya can’t help but space out once he is back in the dorm. A dream that he had ages ago had just unfolded in front of his eyes. Alarm bells should have gone off when they were told about the filming location, but realisation only began to dawn on Sakuya when they were sitting around the table eating copious amounts of korean barbeque and ramyeon. The feeling of deja vu coursed through his spine as he witnessed Sion rubbing his face into Yushi’s neck like a stray cat. He had tried to give Ryo a pointed look, like are you seeing what I’m seeing? But, Ryo kept chugging along, stuffing his dumplings into his face, seemingly ignoring him.
The worst part of that day was when they were in the hot tub holding toes. Holding toes! HOLDING TOES! WHAT ON EARTH POSSESSED JAEHEE TO INTERTWINE HIS TOES WITH YUSHI ? AND WHY DID YUSHI GO ALONG WITH IT! Ryo began to initiate one with Sakuya, of course Sakuya didn't mind the act of doing it with Ryo, it was the concept of it all that made Sakuya weigh how much he actually loved performing as an idol. Like clockwork, Sion threw a bucket of hot water onto him as he was just carrying the one over on that problem.
Surely Ryo can’t find this normal too, but when Ryo came out of the shower and noticed him spacing out, he reminded Sakuya to keep his conspiracy theory face in check while the cameras were rolling.
“THEY WERE TOUCHING TOES!” He whisper-shouts in Japanese, just in case Sion was eavesdropping.
Ryo looks back at him incredulously, “ We were touching toes.” Sakuya stops himself from saying that it’s different, because he knows Ryo would interrogate him and he seriously did not have the bandwidth to dissect all that right now. He pouts in angst and games until he falls asleep, dreaming of being in the practice room with all the wish members.
