Fujioka high school's 3-day field trip

Summary:

Tetro pink characters if they went on a 3-day field trip together as a class.

How well will it go?

Chapter 1: Preparations

Notes:

My first ever fic so ignore any mistakes and my (probably) bad writing.

This will probably have more than a few chapters since I want to give everyone POV's to show their own experiences in the trip (some will get more than a few *cough* Hasegawa *cough*)

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

At Fujioka high school, a field trip happens at least once a year.
and depending on the season it takes place in, the experience is wildly different.

Hasegawa Ken isn't much of a fan of those field trips, so naturally, he doesn't go to any of them.
That was until he overheard a conversation between Kazutoshi and Tamba in class.

This time of the year, in spring, around mid March, just before their graduation, was when this field trip was going to happen.
Perfect weather was forecasted, the activities weren't too physically straining, and they were meant to stay in a highly rated hotel.
So, somehow, Tamba had convinced Kazutoshi to go on said field trip.

He heard Kazutoshi rejecting the idea a few times before finally sighing in defeat and agreeing to go, but only after Tamba showed him the rooms of the hotel they'd be staying in.

And now, Ken was actually reconsidering the idea of attending it.
One of his main reasons for not going was mostly just the idea of traveling with his classmates, with whom he barely talks to.
But Kazutoshi and him were close, really close in fact.
Ken himself still can't believe he's dating the person he liked for two— almost three years.

To say that the idea of spending time with his boyfriend on a field trip wasn't tempting...? would be a lie.

Ken watched as Kazutoshi made his way back over to a seat next to him.
slumping down on the chair with a huff.
“You're going on the field trip, then?” Ken hesitantly asked.

“Yeah, Rui wouldn't leave me alone about this.” Kazutoshi clicked his tongue, glaring towards Tamba.
“The rooms look clean enough, though, but I'm still bringing my own bedsheets.” Kazutoshi shifted just enough for his upper body to face Ken as he leaned on the desk with his right hand supporting his head.

“I'm thinking of maybe going, too…?” it sounded more like a question rather than a statement coming out of Ken's mouth. which was not intentional.

Kazutoshi's eyebrows raised slightly, looking at Ken like he was spouting nonsense, “Really? I thought you hated the idea of field trips.”

“W-well, if you're going…” Ken trailed off, looking towards the whiteboard to avoid looking at Kazutoshi as he said this.

“Ken, just because I'm going on the field trip doesn't mean you have to force yourself to go too.” Kazutoshi retorted. “If you don't actually want to go, then don't. Besides, I can handle myself just fine if that's what you're worrying about.”

Ken wouldn't lie and say this wasn't part of the reason why he's actually reconsidering whether or not to attend the field trip. But he wasn't going to admit that, too.
And besides, it wasn't the full reason!
Before, if he went on these field trips, he was most likely going to spend it all alone, the others in their class already have their own groups and duos.
it's not like he doesn't get along with them at all, in fact, he gets along well with Isono, sometimes Tsuno as well, but their focus is usually spent on Wada.
The only person Ken actually hangs out with doesn't go on the field trips either, due to some very justified concerns and issues.

So Ken will much rather spend his time with Kazutoshi at school (which they're made to still go to while the class is away) than be alone and miserable on a field trip with their loud mouthed classmates.
Maybe ‘miserable’ is too much of an exaggeration, but it's what Ken believed it'd be like.
And there's no point in going if he wasn't going to enjoy it.

“I just think it'll be nice spending time with you on the field trip.” the words left his mouth before he could even register them in his mind.

Ken glanced back at Kazutoshi after the silence that stretched for longer than he'd like after what he just said.
Kazutoshi's eyes seem to be opened a bit more widely, a ghost of a smile on his lips as pink hues tinted his cheeks.
But when Kazutoshi noticed Ken looking back at him, he himself quickly looked away and shifted on his seat, “Whatever.”

And before either of them could say anything beyond that. From the front of the class, their homeroom teacher, Higashigaki, cleared her throat and asked for everyone's attention.
“Okay, as you all know, next week we'll be going on a field trip. I have a few more details to share with you all so please quiet down while I explain.”

She went on to say how the trip will be spent.
Firstly, it was a three days and two nights trip.
Secondly, it will take place in Yokohama.

On their first day, they're meant to just roam around the city, with a few limitations, of course.
They had to stay in groups of four, these groups will be decided alongside the room arrangements, which they were going to be discussing among themselves later in class.
and after a six hour period, they'd regroup and go check into the hotel.

Higashigaki also announced that a small and fun task will be presented on the same day while they're exploring the city.
And lastly a small group activity will be held at the hotel.

On their second day, they'll be visiting Sankeien Garden, they'll spend most of their time there as a class, do some group activities, and then have dinner in a restaurant nearby.
All expenses would be handled by the school.
At the end of the day, they'll make their way back to the hotel, spending their time there as they'd like.

On their third and last day, they'll be visiting the place Ken was personally more interested in, Hakkeijima Sea Paradise.
It was an amusement park.
One that he heard of before, and thought that the concept of it was really interesting.
Of course it had some amusement rides, but that wasn't the part Ken was looking forward to.

If there was one thing Ken liked learning about the most, it'd be marine life.
And this amusement park had aquariums, and no matter how many times Ken had already been to them, he'll never get tired of it.

Maybe, just maybe, this field trip won't be all that bad.

Kazutoshi stayed slumped over his chair as their homeroom teacher explained how the trip would go, until finally letting them talk among themselves about the rooming.
Great, more socializing…!

Rui had been begging him to go on this trip ever since it was announced, she said things like, “it's our last field trip together!” and “you can't possibly miss it!” and blah blah blah…

It'd be annoying sleeping in a room with three other people.
but at least he knew one of them would be Ken, so that's one less possibly annoying person in the hotel room.
Their options were limited, though.
Hiroaki is a definite no.
Ojima was fine, he's mostly quiet and usually in his own world, but Hiroaki was probably going to room with him so, again, a definite no.

Hama and Harada were definitely going to room together.
they weren't an awful option in all honesty, probably the best one they had.
better than being in the same room as the play-pretend prince shit Yanagi had going on.
And Wada wasn't all too bad either, just… it's Wada.

Ultimately, Kazutoshi had decided that Hama and Harada would be their safest option.

But, before they could even go and ask them, Tsuno spoke up.
“Come on, Masa! I'll go ask them for you!” She quickly rose up from her chair and made her way across the class before stopping in front of Hama, Harada, and Chiba.
“Wa-wait, Manami…!” Wada's pleas fell on deaf ears as he rushed to her side, fidgeting with his hoodie.

“You guys! Would you two mind sharing a room with Masa?” she asked cheerfully.
It took a second before they both nodded, “I don't mind, it'd be pretty badass.” Hama answered.
and with a welcoming smile on Harada's face, he agreed with the taller man, “Yeah, I don't see that being a problem.”

Kazutoshi couldn't stop the grumbling in his voice when he turned to Ken.
“Fuck this, now we're probably gonna be stuck with Hiroaki and Ojima in our room.”
and it seemed that he was indeed right, because he could hear in the background how Yanagi was already requesting to join them as well, most likely for the same reason Kazutoshi wanted to room with Hama and Harada.
They didn't want to room with Hiroaki.

“It can't be too bad, Kazutoshi. At least Takeshi is nice, I'm sure he'll try to keep Hiroaki in check at the very least.” Ken tried reassuring him.
Not that it worked all that much, because Ojima always tries to keep Hiroaki in check, it hasn't really had much of an effect these past three years.
But there is nothing he can do about it now.

He won't hear the end of it from Rui if he suddenly decides not to go again.

“Hayashi!!” Nishino called out, her voice blending with Ruiko's as she did.
“You HAVE to room with us!” Nishino emphasized her words like her life depended on whether or not she'll room with Hayashi.
“Yeah! we just need one more person in our room and it has to be you!” Ruiko's voice boomed over the class, Nishino could see Kamimura staring daggers at her from the corner of her eye.

“Alright, alright, you two don't need to be shouting. I was already planning on staying with ya'll anyway.” Hayashi spoke with a sigh following right after.

“You are not going to regret it! Hanano and I-” Nishino looked to her side, realizing Hanano wasn't anywhere near her.
Nishino looked back to see Hanano still at the desk they sat in earlier before she headed towards Hayashi with Ruiko.
“Hanano! what are you still doing over there? come here!” she called out.

Hanano slowly got up from her seat, expression hidden behind the mask she refused to take off.
“What is it, Nishi?” her calm and sweet voice instantly brought Nishino's smile to be wider.
“I'm telling them about what we planned!”

“Oh, that.” Hanano nodded.

“You two already planned something?” Ruiko's voice quieted down a bit, curiosity filled her tone.

“Yeahhh! Hanano and I are planning to invite all the girls to our room in the hotel and have a small party. we even bought snacks and stuff!” Nishino couldn't hide her excitement as she told her friends about the party.

This trip was her chance to relax and have some fun she deeply believed she deserved.
and what's better than spending it with her friends!

“Can I invite Toshi? He said he'll come to the trip this time, and last time he missed the party we did in mount fuji!” Ruiko asked.

“Ruiko, I don't think Kamimura will be thrilled to go to a party filled with girls.” Nishino answered, not that she didn't want Kamimura to be there. she was pretty sure he was the one who wouldn't wanna be there.

“I don’t think Kamimura will be thrilled to go to a party. period.” Hayashi added.
That earned a laugh from Ruiko who in the end nodded and agreed with them.

While still thinking of the party, Nishino wondered if she'll manage to get her fire sticks with her, maybe show off a few moves to light up the party a little.

The teachers might not be in favor of her using fire inside the hotel…
… But! she knew this was going to be the best field trip in her entire high school years!

After Manami had left Masa to chat with Hama and Harada— mainly with Hama about mangas they should bring with them to the trip— Manami had decided to return to Miki’s side and look for two more of their classmates to room with.

But with one look around, Manami realized that there wasn't much of a pick and choose to this.
Watari, Tamba, Okazaki, and Hayashi seemed like they already formed a group of their own.

Manami quickly stopped in her tracks and looked behind her again.
“Chiba! why don't you room with me and Miki?” she called out to the shorter girl.

Chiba quickly lifted herself up to her feet, standing on her chair, making her appear taller than she actually is.
“Yeah! that will be lots of fun!” she cheered.
with a jump down, that created a louder thud than Manami expected, Chiba ran towards her.

They made their way to Miki who was already on her feet as if ready to head out somewhere.
Miki seems fairly excited, it was her first field trip since middle school, after all.

Manami looked to where Miki was staring at.
There, Sasaki sat alone, writing in her notebook.

Manami quickly put her brightest smile on as she approached the student council president.
“Hi there, Sasaki! it seems like you'd be rooming with Miki, Chiba, and me!” Mamami chirped.

Sasaki took her attention off her notebook to stare at the superhero in front of her.
it took a few seconds before she nodded, taking a look at her surroundings.
“It does seem this way, I must say that I'm looking forward to it.” she hummed.

Manami looked down at Sasaki’s notebook.
seeing as she wasn't trying to hide or cover it, she took a small peek.
“Oh! are you listing all the things you'll be taking to the trip?” Manami asked enthusiastically, inching a little closer to the side of the desk to take a closer look.

“Yes. I'm also writing down a few places I want to check out around the city.” Sasaki gave a warm, confident smile.

“I see, that’s going to help us stay a little bit more organized! what did you have in mind?” Manami looked up at Sasaki. expecting an answer from her rather than just reading it from the notebook.

“Just a few spots where some of my friends in the student council had recommended to me. I'm planning to ask Harada as well considering he's from Yokohama.” Sasaki gladly answered.

“Hmm… you're right, I bet Harada knows some good places! we'll have to ask him together!” Manami suggested.
Sasaki's response was a simple nod and a smile.

After a moment or so, Manami decided to head back to Miki and Chiba, both seemed to be invested in their own trip planning.
and even talking about some party Manami has yet to hear about, but she was sure the two will tell her all about it.

Notes:

This fic is actually very fun to write and i already have a few ideas for how their days will go...
so stay tuned!

also i really hope you enjoyed it as much as I'm enjoying writing this.
i just really wanted to write them all happy.

you might notice favoritism in the ships (hasemura to be more specific), but i will give at least one scene (probably more) for each romantic ship that was tagged.
