Change of Fate

Work Text:

Kaori noticed Ojiro run off and decided to follow him. She had joined Trash Tribe while they were dealing with the game in Minato. She followed Ojiro as he ran all the way to the floating platforms high above the city to confront the giant robot that could wipe out the entire city in an instant.

Kaori attempted to get closer but was stopped by Zero. “This is his own fight. When it is over only then will I allow you to interfere. I took the liberty of bringing someone here as his skills will be needed if you want any chance of saving Ojiro.” Zero said stepping aside. Behind him stood a young man with black hair intently watching the fight begin.

“Cub is that you?” Kaori asked the man. He was a great healer that could handle most kinds of injuries.

“So, this is where you disappeared to. I am starting to understand why I was summoned here, not sure how he is fighting with those wounds.” Cub responded. A couple months earlier Kaori had left the server in the search to record more stories from other realms, though Cub knew her by a different name, Cosmic. The fight raged on with the giant robot firing unavoidable lasers at Ojiro. Despite all odds Ojiro refused to go down as his desire to protect everyone gave him the strength to stand his ground.

When the fight was over Ojiro stood gasping for air. “You do know this is the end, right? I am surprised you lasted this long with that nasty stab wound you got earlier.” Zero mocked as he slowly approached him. For a moment Ojiro had forgotten all about it until his clothes started turning red as he registered the injury.

Unable to support himself Ojiro collapsed to the ground. “I do not want to leave him again.” Ojiro muttered to himself as he thought about Kazuki and everything they had gone through. Zero stayed silent as Kaori and Cub rushed over to Ojiro’s side.

Placing her hands over the wound Kaori spoke in a strange language as a blue light emanated from the wound. As she worked Cub monitored the healing progress. The longer she continued the harder it was to keep the spell going. “Let me finish up here. If you continue, I can guarantee you will hurt yourself.” Cub said as he moved her hands out of the way. Luckily the only thing left was to repair the remaining blood vessels and close up the wound, a process he had done many times before. It took about a minute before it was all over. Ojiro groaned in pain, surprised that he was still alive considering Zero enjoyed tormenting the group too much. “It will take a while before he gets back in condition, but he will be alright. I must get back to Hermitcraft as I fear someone is doing something stupid.” Cub said as he teleported away.

Zero sighed as his original plan had been prevented, though he had expected something to happen. “I can get you to the café fast before Kazuki completely loses it. Once we have dropped him off, I will bring you somewhere else to rest.” Zero said as he created a portal in front of him. Kaori and Ojiro were too tired to argue. Holding each of them with one arm Zero walked through the portal, appearing outside the room to the main café. “You should bring him inside, I will look too suspicious and they will think I did something.” Zero whispered to Kaori.

Kaori nodded and supported Ojiro with her shoulder. She slowly shuffled to the door, careful to not let him fall behind. Eventually they made it to the doorway as Kazuki prepared to head out on another search mission. “Ojiro, you made it back. I thought I lost you, please never do something like this again.” Kazuki whispered after running up to take Ojiro.

“Sorry for making you worry. I just needed to protect you and the city. Thought it would help make up for everything I did back then. Now I can rest for a while.” Ojiro said passing out in Kazuki’s arms. For a few moments Kazuki’s heart stopped until Ojiro groaned and shifted slightly.

Seeing that everything was alright Kaori turned around and made her way to the door. She wanted nothing more than to get out of the same room as Yo Kuronaka due to his recent actions. After only a few steps she passed out before being caught by Zero. “I did not do anything. She just over exerted herself and wanted to make sure Q got back safely. Now I will be taking her so she can get some rest.” Zero said before anyone could say anything. He teleported away with Kaori resting in his arms.

There was only one place that would be suitable given the circumstances. Within seconds Zero appeared in Gotanda’s office at G&O. “Did something happen?” Gotanda asked looking up from the ball he took from Yo after the Minato XB game.

“More than I want to explain. Kaori needs some rest and I was not about to leave her anywhere near Yo. After an incident she got scared of him.” Zero responded, leaving before Gotanda could get anymore information. Gotanda silently moved Kaori to one of the couches. Though he had many questions they would have to wait until she woke up.

After a few hours Kaori woke up, slowly sitting up. “How did I even get here? I was in Chiyoda earlier.” She asked trying to process her surroundings.

Seeing her awake Gotanda got up from his desk and approached her. “Zero brought you here without much of an explanation. Yo is still in Chiyoda and is not likely to return here for a while. Even if by chance he showed up, I would make sure the best team is keeping him away.” Gotanda responded hoping to get more information with a bit of prompting. It seemed to be enough to ease her concerns.

“He betrayed us and refused to listen when we tried to make him understand. Yo was too blinded by the chance of bringing Sui back that Q revealed his true identity in order to stop him. I managed to help Ojiro after he got himself into trouble.” Kaori explained unsure if it was a good enough explanation.

“Alright then. Rest for as long as you need. Once you are done, I could use some assistance with some things.” Gotanda said returning to his investigation. He whispered something to Oi as he passed by. She left, returning a couple of minutes later with a cold glass of water and set it on the table. Kaori grabbed the glass feeling lucky to have met Trash Tribe.
